This thing is a beast. I feel sorry for any grips that have to work with this thing since no one is going to use a proper tripod. I got legit scared when I saw it mounted on a monopod. Great preview!
Lol I am mounting it on my monopod when I have it. 11KG it is only 5KG more than Titan ...
Really nice to see (and rare) a manufacturer produce a CURRENT BEST feature set of options. All too often when a new technology is available, devices released are 1-2 steps behind.
Yes very unfortunately
12K 360° video isn't the same as 12K standard video, though. When you watch a "normal" chunk of the panorama, you're only seeing a small part of the picture (and resolution). Thus, if you want something like a 4K presentation of the field of view you desire, you need 12K and beyond for the entire giant panorama space. Thus, 12K isn't overkill at all... in fact, it's still probably not enough.
I mean VR headset which can handle it lol.

It feels kinda nice to have a product called pro that is actually for professionals. Not that I will be able to afford it.
Looks astonishing. If only prosumer cameras were a bit closer to that. Seems like its the first Pro Camera that actually competes with other pro cameras. Finally the distance won't be blurry in VR.

Hugh, we have talked about this before but for real estate. What would you do? Titan or Obsidian Pro?
I have 0 tech knowledge so thats why I ask.
Both are overkilled for real estate - What is the margin you have on real estate? The cost of these camera and post is pretty high - usually for feature film or commercial production.
We are trying to replace real life house tours with virtual 3D ones, that is why we are looking at these cameras. We CAN afford these but I wanted to ask to see which one would be closer to replacing real life in house tours.

We need higher frame rate VR cams Imo if it cud reach 96fps there wud be a lot more potential for immersion
Oculus Quest 2 in TV only does 60fps - so 96fps no one will see it so it is consider waste resource for now. This is cinematic not game engine (CGI). Game Engine 96fps will be nice but in cinematic - that frame rate is not achievable in hardware site.
@@hughhou I mean it depends if that's the headset that you gravitate towards for VR some vary. Though i believe quest 2 has 72hz native, and through software updates does 90 & 120hz now as an option.

I cant even play this sample file on my pc lol anyone know what player supports this file or if a specific codec should be installed? Usually i use deovr and it doesnt have any issue playing 7k and 8k footage just fine, i have also tested some titan 10k footage and even though it was a little choppy i could still see the footage. This thing wont even load lol
Did you download the ProRes 4444 mov file or H265 file for Oculus Quest 2 - use the H265 6K version on VLC. The ProRES 4444 is for your NLE - Nuke, Premiere, Resolve or FCPX

@@keeleyturner sorry Keeley, i didn't mean it too seriously, and i don't mean it badly. its just that the videos are usually so packed full of insight and technical knowledge, really educational, and i'm sure you could contribute plenty to that too. thats what i find really valuable, and i wasn't disappointed. i just didn't feel that segment really fit, it was an entirely separate reactionary comedy video that would have been entertaining if i wasn't really excited to learn about the camera. more tiktok, not youtube. :P or, just different and unconnected.
