My slipper actually split apart enough I couldn’t get my bearing off. Have metal slipper, clutch and ordered for my big rock. Love the videos brother. Keep um coming. 👍🏻👍🏻
I had the same problem with the cracked slipper I contacted Arrma and they sent me a slipper gear and motor mount no problem. Mine came apart and bent the motor mount. Great video as always man!😮
@@rcguygarage I had only had mine less than a year when the slipper cracked on me to much power for that thin metal you had a premo fix though. My esc tabs broke so I used double sided mounting tape but it's not strong enough to hold it in place. Arrma told me I could mail on my esc and they would repair it WHAT like 8 months later
Coincidental I installed the input gear on mine last night and the mesh was so tight with no give … put 4 layers of foil on bearings to input gear and helped relieve mesh 👍👍👍 maybe one day I’ll upgrade to metal but like the quietness of the plastics… and don’t mind the bench time 😂🤣😂
Thank you for finding that boost box. I have a arrma senton 2x4 that I've already got the 4x4 boost box in, then had to pull the diff back out and put it in my big rock. Jenny's sales the diff for like 13 or 12 bucks but the plastic ones are just junk man, I've even got washer between the two pieces so that it gave it a little slack or something to tighten the screws down on instead of just the plastic piece against the other one. It was helped but I got a 1900kv and 130 amp ESC and it loves to break the teeth off. Anyways even on Jenny's you don't get the complete diff setup for that cheap. Appreciate you showing your find, And can't wait for the stuff you mentioned coming up, have a good day Guy
That Boost box seems like a great way to go!! When I changed mine to the cnc metal crown and pinion gears I had to get the new diff case that the crown gear mounts to. It works great! But not nearly as convenient as this boost box option now! 👍🤙💯
I did the metal pinion gear and ring gear up grade to my big rock. I think they are perfect for the big rock because its a little bit lighter than the outcast 4s and kraton 4s. A little costly but woth it.
I like your repair on that HD slipper set up that isn’t a cheap part I’ve grenaded a few times. Thank you for that shout out I appreciate it. Your bigRock has taken a licken and kept ticking!!
I got the metal diff upgrade on my senton and big rock. It's worth it cause I'll never need to replace them again. Also they take 4s power, and 4s is a lot of fun. Lots of dudes just put the metal gears in the rear.
After having the same exact problem with my big rock it seems to me that the root of this issue is the weak motor mount. It pretty much caused a chain reaction of destruction when it bent. It sounded kind of funny but I drove it anyway. Oh well. Now I know the ins and outs of this truck.
Just replaced my rear diff to the metal as well, good ol plastic one stripped, seemed the the pinion went first then the ring, making the weird noise yours was doing in your last vid. I feel the metal should hold up hopefully seeing as how it's good for 4s as well. Great vid and great idea on the race👍
@rcguygarage yeah i like their stuff, cheap enough not to worry about, but way better than the plastics. I watched a video of a guy who was stripping his diffs often, he had a hunch it was the plastic yokes allowing too much give in the diff gears, so fitted aluminium yokes. He hasnt stripped a diff since, and same for me! Aluminium yokes are definitely a top upgrade for the 3s line!
The full diff comes woth the internal gears and outdrives thats why its expensive. You could just buy the metal pinion and ring gear and diff cup and recycle the internals. Going to cost less
Yeah, the metal diff is $50, with a yoke $65, and Boost 2 set w/yokes $100. Plastic is $60 (but only $13 @ Jenny’s) Or, if your stock diff guts are good, you can upgrade to metal ring and pinion by buying the upgraded diff housing for $8, metal ring gear $18, and metal pinion for $13 and do the swap for about $40 + fluid. Short story long, when it comes to name brand vehicles, you’ve got options.
I finally got sick of replacing stripped diifs in my Senton & Big Rock every few months that I decided to give those Chinese knock off 4S metal diff case, input & spur gears that you see on Ebay & Amazon for around £15 to £20.. They're a bit noisy but they've really lasted so far, my Senton has been running 3S & 4S through them for almost a year & they've still got a ton of life left in them, only slight wear & no chips.! The Big Rock's had them in for about 8 months with the same results.! I'd absolutely recommend fitting them, they're a cheaper option & they've already lasted 3 times longer than the Arrma ones. In the UK a diff input is £10 & £10 for the diff gear/case. The Arrma metal 4S gears cost about £50. FIFTY.!!!! Stay safe out there mate & the very best wishes from Scotland 🏴 🙏 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚗 🚖 🚕 🚔 🚚 🚙 🚘 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚎 🚤 🚁 🛩️ 👍 👍
Don't ever just replace a plastic ring gear or pinion. I did that before i upgraded to metal. I thought my pinion was fine and just bought a plastic ring gear. The plastic gear wears considerably and ended up stripping out the only gear i didnt replace 2 runs in. Thank god you got a new diff yeah buddy!
Man. U really should look into the slipper eliminator. Using the traxxas gear with the hot racing adapter. Instead of ur slipper. Made all the difference on my big rock.
Watch the video tomorrow and you can determine for yourself. I know it's easier just to say yes or no. They do work My initial reaction to them was they were too short for the actual sliding portion. As long as the truck is not too heavy I think they seem to be working fine.
I can only imagine your talking about a front or a rear differential and in reality if that's what you are talking about it is a ring gear and pinion 😂🤣 But I have no idea where you are commenting on the video and this video is I think a few years old
ARRMA - ARA311156 $64.99 thats the metal gear diff assembled with yokes and all. Crazy that it's priced the same as the plastic. I assume they just never updated costs after redesigns. That boost box is the way to go.
*_I cant wait to see the grand reveal on your channel of what you have ordered! 🤣🤣_*

Since I put aluminium yokes (from rcawd) ive never smashed a diff. Amazing upgrade ❤❤❤
They make some good stuff

I got the metal diffs for my big rock and kept the plastic spur as my breaking point. It’s a really cheap part.
Nice cheap break point👍💯

I'd buy the boost box
So I just noticed that you have your esc mounted in a different spot I'm guessing the tabs broke what did you mount your esc down with?
No I mounted low to keep CG lower in the truck. It's not really a big deal but seems good.
Hey bro have you had good luck with your cvd sliders on your BRCC? Im on the fence about buying them.

Boost diff kit is a permanent fix. My vote is just get the metal inputs ($22 from jenny) and that will be a permanent fix for 95 % of us.
👍
I know, everybody knows it..... Is that Funny Sound in the background a R2D2 or a Bird? 😅😅
I get the whole diff for 45.98 on ebay easy!
