I will never forget seeing that race live at the Spa. I lost my voice screaming during the stretch run. Amazing race I will never forget. That week at Saratoga was the best vacation I ever had.
What a brilliant champion. The gang up on by Lukas could not break and beat Holy Bull. This is historic this is a movie this is a love affair between this glorious horse and those who loved him and miss him still. Holy Bull unforgettable you were (are) Greatness.
Holy Bull is the grandfather of my OTTB I feel like its a huge honor to know some of the famous race horses that are in her blood and to able to ride her and do the hunter/jumpers with her
The list of accomplished G1 winners that Holy Bull beat in his career, is as good or better than ANY. One of best ever. Very capable of running races that would beat Secretariat, Affirmed, Ghostzapper, Zenyatta, Spectacular Bid, etc. He was a good as any.
Wow, what a gutsy effort by Holy Bull! He showed the heart of a champion in holding Concern off. Ironically, it was Tabasco Cat who won two Triple Crown races, Concern who won the Classic, and Unaccounted For who was the best of the bunch in '95. A very strong field with a worthy champion!
Shows you who should have and would have won the Derby. Holy Bull was clipped just past the first turn in the Derby, if he wouldn't have been the big, stout horse that he was, he would have gone down. Also one of the greatest rides I've ever seen, Mike Smith knew exactly how fast and how far Bull could run, and win this 1 1/4 race. Especially when you consider that he wasn't really a mile and a quarter horse. HOLY BULL was a great horse, who seldom gets mentioned with the greats.
Wow! Wow! First thanks for uploading this! Your hard work is always appreciated by me! I never miss a post of yours! I am newish (4years) to racing and these races are amazing to see! I hate to be greedy but if you have the televised broadcast of this race pre and post I would love to see and watch it to get a fell for what people felt in the moment this race happened. It is surely a classic moment in racing history!!!!! Thank you again for posting it!
My mother was a great fan of Concern, also and this race brought these two great horses together, we knew that Holy Bull was the speed, but Concern was a true distance horse, coming down the stretch I was yelling, "RUN BULL, RUN!" What a show of pure guts, that's where a lot of people underestimated Holy Bull. And the only thing that Tabasco Cat saw was the back of Holy Bull's speckled * SS
@@rugger104 i know he is not dead and to me he is one of the greatest🐐 race callers, goodluck this weekend in Belmont hope we get good trips in races🍻 😎🤙
Holy Bull was never passed in the stretch 13/16 wins with the 3 losses: Fountain of Youth small pallot oxygen block, KY Derby missed break never fired & Donn handicap broke down! 13 wins with never any doubt that a horse could go by him. The son of Great Above and Sharon Brown ran past his pedigree and took the racing world by storm!
Your absolutely correct about everything, except for the Derby. It wasn't that Holy Bull never fired, if you will watch the rerun of the Derby, watch when they get past the first turn into the backstretch very closely, and you will see that a horse behind Holy Bull actually clipped heels with him and ran up onto the bulls back legs, you will see Holy Bull correct himself to keep from falling, if it weren't for the fact that he was a big, strong horse, he would have gone down. That's why he had blood running down his back leg when he was pulled up and brought back by the stands after the race. Just wanted to add that, I loved him, he did outrun his breeding, he did sire a kentucky derby winner, and he was a beautiful, intelligent horse. Holy Bull was the real deal. Smith never forgave himself for the Derby, although it really wasn't his fault. He swore that he would make it up to Holy Bull, and he did when he won it with Giacomo, bulls son. 👍
When you look at the move that Concern makes at the quarter pole and you consider the contested fractions up front, it is almost inconceivable that Holy Bull would be able to hold him off at the wire. And while I do realize that horses often drift when driving down the stretch, Concern might have lost that nose margin with that drifting he did in the middle of the stretch, out and then back and then out a little at the wire. I might be overanalzying it a bit, but every little bit helps...
I freaking love the heart that this horse has: Holy Bull, No Doubt About it.
What a race. What a call. This race had it all. Quality. Uncertainty. Dramatic finish. A historic effort by a true champion.

All Tabasco Cat saw in the Travers was the back of Holy Bull's speckled *ss
So what does that say about which horse was really the best?
@@Makado14 Holy Bull was the best in 1994 without a doubt! The strength of his competition allows his greatness to shine even brighter!

Great race
Holy Bull was the truth Speed and Stamina!
Lukas' failed ploy to send out Comanche Trail to help Tabasco Cat only served to showcase The Bull's greatness for all time!

If that stretch was a mile longer, the Bull would still have won!

I was a huge Concern-fan in 1994 I still keep rooting for him to pass Holy Bull, but it's just not gonna happen!!-haha. BRIAN

Well you either bet on him to win or play the bridgejumper and hope he finishes out of the money
@@DanielSong39 my interest in Thoroughbreds goes far beyond betting on them. That's a very small part of the picture for me. No insult meant.

He would have never got his nose in front of Holy Bull. Not going to happen.
He was up against a horse who refused to be beat.
The Graveyard of Champions... but not this Champion!
Holy Bull, in the stretch, was just playing with Concern.
How in the heck did Holy Bull hold on
Usually the closer runs right on by and wins by open lengths
Bravo
The Bull!
