Just might be the greatest thoroughbred that ever lived... but how could we ever know? I'm very sad that I didn't get to see more of this beautiful horse.
Never hit with a whip in any race. All 1 turn races were 44 half’s besides the one with a bad break and both 2 turn races were 45 half’s with plenty of gas in the tank
The sad thing about Flightline, if you can find one about this superhorse, is that he was so much better than the opposition that he was never pushed even close to the limit of his abilities. We will never know how fast he really was.
Highest level thoroughbred. Had a beautiful stride grabbed the surface . Only ran 6 times so hard to make him the greatest ever . But hard to imagine any horse beating him in that pacific classic ?
Horseracing is such a sidelight now compared to the old days because the minute the owners realize they've got a horse like this they immediately put them out to stud because they are worth 100 times more there than they are on the track, without any of the risks of racing. We will never again see those mythical, hero horses that transcend the sport and become household names because they are not even around long enough for the common man to realize they exist. American Pharoah properly cracked the mainstream consciousness and then was all gone and pastured about 4 months later. This guy might have genuinely been the most Secretariat-like American horse since the OG but we'll never REALLY know and nobody outside the blue-blooded world of racing even knows his name...because he only ever ran 6 times and only twice at proper classic distances before retirement. TWICE Disastrous for the sport. Modern economics ruins everything once again as it does with every facet of life now it seems.
had he been whipped or pressed, it's logical to say he would ran a 1:58.xx mile and a quarter, and broke some other track records. Never touch with whip AND.... was taken in/taken hold in final strides in multiple races where he was near the track record. The front fractions of BCC, combined with his final 1/8 mile time tell anyone who follows that, how much of a freak Flightline was. We thought Point Given, Smarty Jones, Arrogate, Shared Belief, American Pharoah, Justify, etc were "freaks". After seeing Flightline, those other horses were elite. Flightline was a freak.
Best horse since Big Red. Career wise, Secretariat better. If they have a series of races from 1 mile to 1.25 miles, I think Flightline wins as many as Secretariat. I think he was that good. It's a shame that they retire elite horses as soon as they (owners) discover they are elite.
His slowest 3/4 was under 1:10 and in the Classic, he and Life is Good ran BC Sprint time according to the electronic timer. His ability to sit just off a blazing pace and then finish the race like they went 1:12 instead of 1:08 for the first six furlongs, is the best I've ever seen.
Flightline never lost , Big Red lost his maiden plus many more. Flightline was never pushed in the stretch. Too far ahead of the rest. Prat saved him each and every time. It’s not about breaking track records , it’s winning.
@@6cobrasnake9 it is, yes, but Flightline only raced 6 times (not his fault). Horses (other than geldings won't run 20 times in this day and age). Secretariat ran 21 times I think. In those 6...which is all we have to go on, my opinion is, Flightline was at least as impressive as Secretariat. All I can say, is Flightline can, with valid argument, be put in the discussion for one of top horses ever. It's a shame horses are no longer bred to be raced, but instead raced to be bred.
I did want him to try the dubi World Cup before retired 😊 but he’s a super horse One thing I can say John take is patient time with his horse cause he will never have a horse like him again🙏🙏
Flightline Did Not Look That Comfortable Over Belmonts Sandy Surface...Looks Like He is Spinning His Wheels a Bit Yet "Still" Overcame it and The Hot Fractions to Win by "6"

Yeah that's so true
We never really got to him pushed but that also shows how clear he was of his opponents
FLIGHTLINE IS THE GHOST OF SECRETARIAT OF MODERN THOROUGHBRED RACING!
If only we got to see how good he really was. You can't compare him to the greatest as he had so few races.
THE BEST HORSE I EVER SEE 💪🏽💪🏽
Thanks for showing the whole race in each.

Flightline: the only horse that John Sadler was ever in fear of.

Best horse of all time who never got to run.
A perfect horse💫💖🥰
