I never get tired of seeing this clip! These Derby clips, along with American Pharoah's should be studied as how races should be won the right way in rain, fog, or ok weather!
Smogger911 Justify did like the slop better than Pharoah though. The Preakness for both was sloppy, Justify ran 2 seconds faster than AP. Both of them are amazing horses, and I don’t think we got to see everything Justify could’ve given us, since the rest of his crop with the exception of Good Magic never really pushed him
I knew Gronkowski was gonna come up from the back, something about the posture of the jockey on him and that on Justify just shows you that they are here to win
just wondered where this horse went and read just now t had been retired... Didnt even know he went on to win the Triple Crown after backing him in the KD.... Amazing. What a specimen and what an attitude. Scat Daddy is producing some real monsters of late.
Goonerville Gonad Horses that win race when retire become breeder. Justify is retired and contracted for 250 offsprings for a whooping $75 millions for 2 years. So basically he just eat, chill all days and get it on with the ladies horses.
If Gronkowski didn't get so far behind at the beginning, he would of had this race. He was traveling faster than Justify at the last furlong. But Justify prevailed and became a triple crown winner.
Why do you need to compare him to secretariat? There will be nothing like him in many lifetimes. If it weren't probable I would say never. But that doesn't mean we can't enjoy the great horses of today.
Ok can we talk about the #6 horse that was so dead last it wasn't even on the screen in the beginning but ended up 2nd at the end? What might he have done if he had had a good start?

@@rimo1267 I am not a big fan of doping but certain drugs are legal in the USA as a Man Bob seems likeable enough if he is into doping I would not agree with it , lots of successful people are crooks in Australia there was a BIG scandal with Darren Weir still yet to be resolved he was using a jigger to administer an electric shock to make a horse run faster not drugs but just as crooked .....the idea was the "train" the horse with shocks so on Raceday when the jockey made a move the animal would expect a shock :( and hit turbo charge
i have seen this video of justify more than thrice ... my question are how horses pick to be qualified to run in Kentucky Derby and if you count 1 second per horse then the come from behind horse are in a disadvantage for the shorter the distance, then its the corollary to their chances of you winning ... any my opinion plus yours and others make a good combination and might hit the like the 2019 winner from heaven ... salamat
All 3 year olds that have been nominated and sustained by their owners making payments are eligible. Then they go by $ earned as to who gets to actually run..
So this amazing American horse emulates the 2015 Triple Crown exploits of American Pharoah. Now retired to stud just like many great champions including Secretariat.
Pharoah was a true phenom...Look at his final race: New track record against a field of older...The flavor of the month never came close to that. Belmont time was right there with Easy Goer and Point Given as compared to Justify's at almost two full second slower.
Agree, Justify is by far the weakest triple crown winner. The fact that people are even comparing him to the undefeated champion Seattle Slew is disgraceful. Justify was never ran against older horses, then he was retired because of an "injury" aka we know he's not that good so lets retire him to secure the most amount of money on his breeding rights.

Unlike riding crops, which are made of leather and some sort of hard material (plastic, for example) racing whips are made of a foam like substance, and their main purpose is to make noise to encourage the horse to move forward. The whip probably only touched Justify 5 times throughout he entire race
This horse shouldn’t be racing at ALL ! Tested positive for banned substance ! All sports person or animal test positive for banned substance ! Disqualified ! The RULES !?!? X 🐎 X
Roy Tallow it was so little that it wouldn’t of affected his performance in the Santa Anita Derby anyway. He did not have any drug in his system during any of the TC races and the drug in his system was proved to be from food contamination, which is common for that substance in California where the incident happened

Only reason they took the flavor of the month off the market was that his sire died young.
Justify is not only beautiful, it runs hard and likes to lead. Real Horse Power.

Every time I turn on the telly to watch the Derby and the track is sloppy I am disappointed.

Bravazo closed ridiculously fast in the second race. Justify was lucky the track wasn't wasn't just a few strides longer.
