What a great disservice we did for Ferdinand after his racing career ended. Sent to Arrow Stud in Japan & then, after a long stud career, was slaughtered sometime between 2001 & 2002. RIP Ferdinand.

On a serious note, Lady's Secret deserved every honor and accolades she received. She was a monster! As far as Fran's Valentine, or Frannie as she was known to those who surrounded her, she was a champion in her own right! Thanks for this post , and replay of a very special time!
The absolute balls of steel for the owners of Wild Again to put up that kind of money to enter him in that first Classic. They could only break even or better on that investment by getting first or second. They were absolutely crawling the last furlong, but Wild Again going 45 for the half, 1:10 for 3/4 of a mile, and being headed the ENTIRE race, was a hell of an effort on that horse's part. Im really glad they didnt take him down. Wild Again deserved that win.

Stands out for me as well as I had bet him anti post 4 months previously after seeing him win the king stand at royal ascot actually got 20/1 anti post price in the UK the caveat being no run no money returned turf horses rarely run on dirt so they were not expecting him to run besides 4 months is a long time in racing but i thought it was worth the risk at the price.
This was one of the most exciting duels ive ever seen !! Horse racing is one thrilling event to watch especially in a neck to neck race never knw which one can nip the other at the end !! I just luv this animal so majestic so regal and they exude such power ❤️❤️❤️
I have never seen a horse like Dayjur... jump shadows and lose. Arazi never changed leads... and won in a spectacular fashion. What this video helps me with is studying the breeding of the horses that we still have on the tracks today. Tiznow is a prime example of great DNA that is still around with Tizway. There are hundreds of these examples (Candy Ride, Medaglio DeOro, etc..)
I thought for a minute that the Ferdinand/Alysheba match up was the one I saw as a kid, but then realized that was the 88' Santa Anita Derby. I have Polaroids somewhere in a box lol. Still can't believe what happened to Ferdinand. He deserved to retire to a life of luxury

I saw a horse at the 1996 Olympics equestrian and the horse name rang a bell as almost certainly a horse I had previously backed on the place tote more than once in thoroughbred racing. I think as a hurdler. Almost certainly had collected on it.
Easy Goer was Probably the Most Talented Horse out of This Group of Great Horses...That Preakness and Classic was Rough to Swallow...Best Horse in Both Races in a Nose/Neck Losses...He was Absolutely Brilliant in Most of his Performances...And at ANY distance from 6 1/2 Furlongs to a 1 1/2....Derby and Juvenile Races Both at Churchill in the Mud was so Unfortunate...Easy Goer had such Bad Luck Throughout his Career

Race times don't win races either does soft competition (Cryptoclearance, Clever Trevor??). When faced against a real champion, SS beat him 3 out of 4 times. Bad luck is part of racing but 3 out of 4 just means SS was better...champions overcome bad luck. Enough said.
I have been a race fan since the 71 Belmont, and I started working on the track in 86 but was at the first Breeders cup at Hollywood park. Gate Dancer broke my heart so many times. Follow up with Alysheba had him in the Derby and Preakness got off him and bet Bet Twice in the Belmont. Can't believe he paid 29 bucks. Later that year my first time at Saratoga dark day afternoon bi see a horse grazing outside my dorm . Muscles through his ears to his tail. I go out to ask the groom who's this horse . Alysheba , Be serious ; I have been very blessed to have such a great time on the track. Only regret ? I didn't come sooner

I agree but I also think that the contact from Wild Again was unintentional. It looked like his jockey was fighting to keep him straight. There's no doubt Slew O' Gold got pinched though. Tough call for the stewards. I think Slew O' Gold likely would have won if Gate Dancer didn't make the run on the outside. We'll never know though. Wild Again did run a great race.

He has the greatest offspring lineage of all time the line through his son Saddlers Wells his son Galileo and now his son Frankel who is the quickest stud horse ever to reach 100 stake winners and currently stands at £450.000 a go That's just under $600.000 US and it's rising quickly as he is getting grade 1 winners constantly.
IMO Cordeiro knew he was losing so tried to get the 2 ahead of him disqualified! Cordeiro should never have put 3 horses in danger. Watch around the last turn and you will see him bumping a lot into Wild Again

2- Real Quite losing triple crown in the 1999 Belmont Stakes.

IMO Cordeiro knew he was losing so tried to get the 2 ahead of him disqualified! Cordeiro should never have put 3 horses in danger. Watch around the last turn and you will see him bumping a lot into Wild Again
