    I rescued a mare this year who goes back to Bold Ruler, War Admiral, Native Dancer, and Northern Dancer. She surely would have wound up going to slaughter because she has serious loading issues. I am glad to see that there are a few ethical Thoroughbred owner/trainers out there. Her racing name was Ms. True Way. Out of a mare called Ms. Will A Way. By a stallion called True Direction. She is an incredible lovely mare. It took sedation and a mustang shoot to get her loaded and home. I'm glad these people value this magnificent stallion. Sadly this mare was not a top performer and was sold to inexperienced horse people who did not maintain her as she should have been. But Rest assured she is in good hands with me and this will be her for ever home.

Race day meds are bad enough, but the unregulated training meds that nobody talks about... argh, it makes me angry to think about.

      Yes, I know. Mine never ran on Lasix, any more than they trained on bute and clenbuterol and methocarbamol and all the rest of the garbage juice designed to keep sore horses in training. I had a long conversation a couple years ago with a heartbroken owner who had a gelding break down during a race at LSP. The owner said his horse wasn't "running on drugs" then blithely told me that the gelding got methocarbamol while training because it's "just a muscle relaxer." I didn't have the heart to tell him at that time that methocarbamol relaxes muscles by blocking pain signals. A million problems leading to catastrophe can be masked by methocarbamol... etc. @@Jefferdaughter

    This man is truly a man who loves Houston and would have to be the number one citizen this city has EVER had!! I remember when i was little and Gallery Furniture was still at it's first and original location and my little brother was extremely ill and practically paralyzed from his illness. My Mom who was single and BROKE needed a recliner for him to sleep on ended up going to G.F. and my mom didn't have enough money for the chair that my brother needed so badly and out of nowhere Mattress Mac pulled out his wallet and paid the entire balance with same day free delivery!! This was before he even knew our story.
    He could tell my mom was devastated just by the look in her eyes and he did what he did because he genuinely cared about people. We are just one family out of who knows how many people he has helped and I hope one day I can Thank him for all of us.

    Such a talented horse who was lucky enough to end up in the ownership of the McIngvale family, and to have such a knowledgeable and caring groom, and training team. The mandate from ownership down was unlike the majority of owners and trainers who see the horse as purely a commodity and do "anything" to get a horse to win! No abusing the horse in any way: physically, intimidation or cruelty.
    This team cared enough not to poison such a great athlete with "any" drugs pre-race or other. The horse ran on talent, training and daily after care, Runhappy was provided with a base diet off good quality oats, hay, and probably lots of treats (apples, carrots, etc), compared to prepared feeds
    I thank you for proving to the horse racing industry that it's not "required to win" to exploit such young horses by implementing typical factory style training method's, supplements, and debilitating drugs.
    I am happy and certain this horse was destined to find you Mr. McIngvale, you and the people caring for this horse filled his life with so much love and caring that he truly did Run Happy.

    Thats why i think grooms should get payed more in my opinion.
    They spend most of their time 7days a week no days off taking care of horses making sure they get what they need and keeping them in good condition.
    It makes me sad that they work and spend so much time with horses that they don’t personally own. Probably because they can’t afford one but it’s sad that they get payed so little when owners and trainers are getting thousands..

      "Instead of Putting him down." So you think that after their last race the owner says "go put him down now." You smoke crack? That may happen once in awhile but it is def not the norm. The horses get sold to people or charities who use them to help disabled people or some have went to prisons for therapy. What you said is sad. You must watch CNN all day. Thats fake news. Half of then are CIA like Amderson Cooper who is from high class lines and interned at the CIA then all the sudden became a journalist. Thats prob where your info came from

      Do you actually own/ride horses or are you just saying that? Have you spent more than 10 minutes around people who have and love their horses? I've been riding for over 30 years and have met and worked with horse-people in every discipline, of every breed, and in every sport, and the one thing all horse-people have in common is their love of their animals. But you would know that if you spent any time at all actually talking to or being around them. All disciplines use some sort of training aid to extend the reach of their arms and legs to cue the horse in a specific spot for a specific request. The bit means one thing, the reins mean another, a touch to one side means one thing, a click means another. We can't talk to horses so we have to use other means of communication.

    • @keeslover777
      @keeslover777 5 лет назад +2

      @@kaloreilly5350 yeah, a money making operation where horses are abused until they don't make money for the owners then "sent to slaughter", so to speak. They force 2 and 3 year old horses to race before their bones are fully developed. It is a money making operation, at the expense of animals.

    • @keeslover777
      @keeslover777 4 года назад +2

      @CLUB BRENDAN are you actually suggesting that every horse owner in the racing industry takes care of their horses other than basic needs? Are you suggesting that none of these horses get abused? Are you suggesting that none of these horses get raced before their bones are fully solidified at the age of 5?
      If you say yes this is what you're suggesting then you're full of shit when I seen Maiden races with 2 year olds, and we wouldn't see trainers getting banned from training because their horses are full of drugs that are banned on race day. We also wouldn't be seeing crib marks on stalls... I could go on and on but I won't

    • @keeslover777
      @keeslover777 4 года назад +2

      @CLUB BRENDAN First of all, I would like to kindly point out that I am definitely not a girl. I am almost 45 years old and I am quite intelligent. I do my research, I embrace facts. Second of all I said one bad word one time. I wouldn't consider that laced with profanity. Thirdly, I'm glad we agree on the age thing. The problem with horse racing is it is a business where horses don't have the choice and that is why I'm against it. Most owners will race their horses until they no longer make money on the horse, and then they retire, sell, or send the horse to the slaughterhouse, whatever you'd like to call it. And finally, these were more rhetorical questions than they were anything else. The point I was making is owners are only in the business to get rich. Nothing more nothing less.

    • @keeslover777
      @keeslover777 4 года назад +1

      @CLUB BRENDAN I have never claimed to know everything. But as you are a "professional equestrian", I'll be the better human and let you have the last word. I know what I know, and I know what I don't know. That's why I research and continue to learn.
