@George Parkins, Here-Here my friend. I'm not in any way knocking Deep Impact because he is most definitely a top class sire, but Galileo is a machine! As far as breeding for horses to run on turf, Galileo may be the most prolific sire I've ever seen. It's incredible the number of stakes winners he's directly responsible for year in and year out, both male & female.
That little Canadian bred horse Northern Dancer the greatest sire of the 20th century had a lot to do with Japanese racing through his son Northern Taste just like he did with the rest of the world' His bloodline can be found sometimes not just once but sometimes 2 or 3 times in many horses through out the world A lot of these horses mentioned not only are from Sunday Silence bloodline but Northern Dancer appears in them too sometimes more than once Maurice ,Northern Dancer appears in his bloodline 4 times throgh his sons Sadler Wells , Danzig Lyphard and Northern Taste
The pedigree of Sunday Silence traces back to Royal Charger by Nearco . He who sired three great sons Neartic, Nasrullah, and Royal Charger. Nasrullah sire of Bold Ruler sire of Secretariat.
If these horses are so great and are supposedly taking the world by storm, why aren't more of them racing outside of Japan???? You see more race horses running under the Sheiks colors than colors from Japan.
The sheiks spend their countries oil cash on horses... for the amount they spend and number of horses they have, they actually do remarkably badly. Go to the Godolphin website and see the list of horses they have in training.... shocking
@@richfairclough123 you're right, for all their wealth, the sheiks don't do well at all with the horseracing game. Especially considering the endless supply of funds at their disposal. Not too sure how Japan has done at the tracks.
Since Japanese purses are so high, there's not much incentive to race overseas. Historically, in the US, Japanese horses have not done well until very recently. Two breeders cup races were won by Japanese horses in 2021. We'll probably start to see more Japanese runners in the US as a result of the success. They've been buying a lot of top race mares recently to improve their stock as well.
Also, I feel like there's still a stigma that Japanese horses are inferior. They used to be, but now the industry has been aggressively importing stock from the US. Japanese horses have gotten better and better and it's a matter of time before they start to show that overseas.
Probably have an easier time finding jockeys in Japan. Why do some races seem to be in the opposite direction? Leave it up to the Japanese to do it better & I shouldn't be surprised that so many speak English! Aren't shy about using the whip, are they? Holy hell, look at the operations here.Precisely how they attacked the sport of golf! No bookies, imagine that! Great job, JRA!
They breed to race, not race to breed like what goes on here in the US. Japan does it the right way. Plus it didn't hurt that Sunday Silence went to stand at stud there.

I've only just watched this fabulous video. I feel they should have just concentrated on Japanese horse breeding and left the betting business alone. The biggest problem with the gamboling business is it's too easy to have an insider bet. This video explained how jockey's, jockey's wives, trainers, trainers wives and other staff directly involved with the racing business could not have a gambol on a horse.... So, what's stopping these people from asking a friend or relative to put a bet on for them??
All Japanese jockeys must stay in the "Adjustment room" from the night before the race, which means they are completely isolated from the outside to avoid an insider bet. They cannot use any telephone or internet connection, they cannot tell the latest condition or any information to others. And the fact, you cannot win this gamble so easily.
Just like Canadian wagering controlled by the government but they only support the major track so we really only have one racetrack in Canada. Politicians in Canada are motivated by self interest not building an industry.
Biggest mistake ever we should of kept Sunday Silence in America he had alot good babies he ran 1:09 flat at 6f as a two year old Charlie thought that Sunday was his first Triple Crown Winner

@Polly Briant What do you think would happen to the thousands of racehorses if racing ended? I'll tell you,,... the majority of racehorses would indeed go to slaughter. It would make no sense to keep useless TB's in your barn, if they couldn't earn their keep. Sure a number of these horses may be sold for jumper, dressage, pleasure, or other such prospects. The number of horses that'd actually be kept until they sold, would be few. The owners of these racehorses are not going to be willing to pay for the horses month after month, with all their money going out, none coming in? Think about that. The reason they start racing these horses so young, is so they don't have to keep paying to feed them, or keep them in their pastures for another year! They want these horses at the track earning. Owners are going to make that quick buck if they can no longer race. The result is going to be, to send them to slaughter. The very thought makes me ill. Just think about what I'm saying here. Because it is what will happen, if racing suddenly ends. The horses are better off at the tracks, believe me.
