  • It's a real rarity: Beethoven's so-called 'Easy Sonata' No. 19 is hardly ever played in concerts. Perhaps this was not even intended. The pianist Kit Armstrong performed the intimate work at the Beethovenfest in Bonn’s Bundestag Plenary Hall, on September 10, 2023.
    00:00 Andante
    03:40 Rondo. Allegro
Ludwig von Beethoven named his Piano Sonata No. 19 in G minor Op. 49/1 'Easy Sonata'. This beautiful, light-hearted music from 1805 only has two movements - andante and rondo. It is said that Beethoven composed it under financial stress, and the sonata was created to teach friends and pupils.
In fact, many of Beethoven's sonatas were not intended to be performed in public. They were composed for his pupils or to privately entertain friends. Yet over time, they made it to the public.
The 'Easy Sonata' rarely appears on concert programs, perhaps because it is not a challenge for masterful virtuosos. But for US pianist Kit Armstrong, the sonata is a crowd pleaser thanks to its melodies and harmonic ideas that are so flawless one hardly pays attention to its perfection.
Kit Armstrong was born in Los Angeles, in 1992. Nowadays, he is not only a sought-after pianist and organist, but also a composer, music researcher, mathematician, biologist, and physicist. At age five, Kit Armstrong was already playing the piano and even composed his first piece of music. Armstrong attended elementary and high school simultaneously and was the youngest student ever admitted to Chapman University in California. At age nine, Kit Armstrong transferred to Utah State University, where he studied music, mathematics, biology, and physics before moving on to the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. He graduated with honors from the Royal Academy of Music in London.
As a solo pianist, Kit Armstrong has worked with many of the world's most renowned conductors, including Christian Thielemann and Robin Ticciati. He has also performed with famous orchestras like the Vienna Philharmonic and the NHK Symphony Orchestra. The pianist Alfred Brendel was Kit Armstrong's influential mentor. At the age of 94, he still follows the career of his gifted pupil

It's sad the players have it all . They think too much now have all the techniques n the world and each one comes and goes and the viewer who knows little but listens can enjoy while the afficionado just hears another executant and is not moved. The music : needs to be new or it's just another boring concert or the performer must have something really rare and special. There are a million of the same sounding recordings of the same stuff. Who cares now. These guys need to play Biulez or Wuorinen. None of all this work snd practice matters. Get university job and just keep doing the samr...

Без блеска, скучно и нудно. И где комментаторы услышали «чувства» исполнителя? Они исключительно на лице
