Derek St. Holmes is one of the greatest singers in Rock-N-Roll.
Got tired of standing and singing in the background while Ted got all the attention but it was Ted’s band talked to him in Orlando Florida at a bar one night and he said that was something that bothered him about the situation cool dude
Not many comments but Derek St. Holmes is one of the finest rock singer's to grace the mic. And note he is up there in years with that preserved robust voice. A freak to say the least
Derek never did get the recognition he deserved. Sadly a lot of people thought that was Ted singing all those songs. Over a half of a century singing/playing Rock-n-Roll and still sounds amazing. 🎤🔥🎸🔥
Saw him with Brad at the Lakeland Civic Center in 84 when the album first came out only time they played a big arena show around the Tampa Bay Area $6.50 have the album on 33/12. Cassette and CD
Saw Witford/ St Holmes at the Lakeland Civic Center when the album first came out one of the only big shows that they did in Florida That year A local hard rock band from the area opened up the show tickets $6.50 general admission we pushed are way up front during the intermission nicely just zigzagging back and forth between people until we got to the front
1980 I think not 84 sorry smoked a lot of weed back then do have all three copies of the album. 33 cassette and cd
Now that’s the way I like it.. feels like the 70’s again here… ain’t nuthin wrong with that in the 20’s.. works like a charm
St. Holmes kills it! He made the Nugent albums sound so good. Brad has been so overshadowed by Perry. Maybe an industry thing - marketing the "Hot Star". Brad may be even better than Joe. These guys nail it here. Very good rock blues band. The heart of rock and roll.
Talked to Brad several times over the years about it and he said he loves to be able to live a quiet life without having to be hounded 24 7 he said let the music do the talking class act for sure longboat key Florida met Steven and Joe several times also and nice enough guys they can’t go anywhere without having to be overrun by fans has to get old after a while
Derek plays a damn good guitar as well as one of the best vocalist in rock n roll history 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Derek is the one playing lead guitar at the beginning of the long solo from Wang dang Sweet poontang double live Gonzo. I had no idea until I saw a live video.
Now that's straight up forward Rock n Roll, nothing like it in the whole wide world and there's nothing better.
Best rock and roll band ever the groove that they have together is what sets them apart from the rest
Had plenty of Ted Nugent and Aerosmith albums, but never knew this existed until today. Straight up rock and roll. Good stuff
Their first album from the early 80s is one of my all time favorites from start to finish
St. Holmes is a ledge down in the Detroit area. Not too many better. Still sounds great which is really something when you realize he has been doing it for nearly 50 years!!
Rocking!!!! Totally cool. Derek St. Holmes still sounds amazing, and it's great to hear Brad Whitford rocking out! Kick-ass band.
I have always thought that Derek and Brad Delp were very similar sounding singers. Great range. Pleasing timbre. Smooth throughout their entire range.
These guys are so good together!! I remember getting their record when it came out in 81, I believe it was. Great album too!!
My good buddy Brent Fitz on drums
😊👍👍👍
Smokin! This rocks.
Seems whenever I come across good music Brent Fitz is right there ! Great drummer !!
😎
That voice!! The abound of rock n roll!!!
These 2 guys are/were the backbone of their particular band, and magical together. (I always thought Brad was way better than Joe, especially live....shhhhhh) PERIOD.
Absolutely!!
That Smoked. Very nice. Just good old rock n roll. Good for your soul. Great rhythm guys. Tight as a fishes butt
I have this on a a 33 cassette and cd good times for sure saw them in 84 at the Lakeland Civic Center One of the few big events they played might have been Ratt and another small time band that opened the show smoking a lot of weed at the time but definitely remember Witford/ST Holmes playing for 2 hours with everything that had $6.50 gas 1.79 beer 5.99 for a case of Busch
Shy Away was my intro to WSH many many moons ago..
Derek lived in my home town for many years and got to see him many times live at local venues. Villa Rica GA.!!!! THANKS DEREK!! ALSO SAW HIM AT THE KINGS HEAD PUB IN 1990 IN SMYRNA GA. BLEW ME AWAY GOT AN AUTOGRAPHED POSTER OF A MILLWAKE TOLL GIRL IN A CROCHETED BIKINI THAT WAS VERY REVEALING!!!!
These guys are tight! Excellent
I really really really like this........it is so tight........it reminds me of Y&T......I really like this........oh..I already said that.....
Very cool!
man o man thats gooooood
This was fantastic! Can’t believe I just now found this.
That was fun!
I just recently came across this band. They sounded good and tight and really rocked . I like to watch them live someday if they are ever in the St.Louis Mo. area .
Loved this
Daaaaaamn
Derek still sounds GREAT!!!!
Barn Burner! Still hope for great new rock and fing roll!
Brent Fitz on the skins!? Recognize him from his time with Slash! Great song and super slick playing on all accounts...
He’s still with Slash.
I thought I recognized him from Miles Kennedy and the Conspirators. Thanks for the confirmation!
😎🤟
i was at this show and you can see me a lot in the video, but at the 4 minute mark that is me giving Brad the thumbs up!
I'm on east coast, never heard these guys, but really great!
Loved the room they played too.
What ya call "intimate'!
Seriously? You never heard of these guys? Wow .
@@gregmartin1757 I'm from New England... Musician since 1970... And THIS is the first time even hearing OF them. * Great sound & musicianship all around. TIGHT!
Meet brad in Tampa one evening and said nice to meet you and I’m not going to mention anything about the questions you have been asked and million times he laughed and said thanks for being a fan I just love to play guitar and be under the radar and live a quiet life when I need some free time a friend asked who was that I was talking to and I said just a guy that plays guitar for a living
Derek rocks, When it comes to Nugent songs his were the best.
Agreed. Those early Nugent albums with Derek were the best. Scream Dream etc ....yikes....Ted lost the plot, but Charlie did his best.
I’d rather see this band live than Aerosmith in the last 5-10 years. Great band!
I agree! I've seen Aerosmith three times and was always left disappointed.
If you like this type of stuff, check out The Renagados from Bilbao, Spain. They rock
👌 Wow
Van Halen should have hired Derek after they fired Sammy
That would have been just what the Doctor ordered!
There you go: Nugies best singer and Aerosmiths best guitar player . I wish the entire show was available!
What album is this on?
DAMN! Get the tables out of the way and get up to get down!
Derek and Brad can do no wrong
Derek St Holmes from Ted Nugent's band!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is he a crazed fascist like Ted ?
Is that David Bryan on keys?
No, it looks a bit like him but its definitely not him.
Who's on bass?
Charles Chopper Anderson is his name. A cool bassist.
Derek would have continued with Uncle Ted if Ted would only share the billing. Really too bad because Ted’s best music was with DSH.
Good stuff.. definitely better than Ted and Aerosmith now adays
If Clapton is god.derick and Nugent are close
Awesome musicians and an example of how truly talented Deric and Brad are. Ted will often give great props to Deric. Brad is well know however mostly overshadowed and overlooked on stage. Aerosmith and Ted Nugent are made better by these two guitarists and Deric singing. The tightness comes from years of their professionalism. ❤
Brad Whitford > Joe Perry
his stuff on Ted albums is the best of Ted. Ted not that good on his own, immature writing
