Hey that’s John Whitehead on drums. John and I would drive to Nacogdoches on Saturday nights listening to the likes of Stranglehold and others. Makes sense he’s playing the same music we listened to. Awesome drummer! Awesome musicians.
Great to see and hear my old road dog brother still singing high and peeling the paint off the ceilings of the venues he plays at with this Vocals. Travel safe Derek, best to you and the family, Rob Grange.
Are you the real Rob Grange?! If so, you're the man! Your bass tone back in the day was so gnarly! Your P bass with a J pickup pretty much created modern hard rock/metal bass tone! Your tone and playing on Double Live Gonzo is untouchable. Thanks for all the great music you've made and everything you've done for hard rock and heavy metal bass playing! Just curious, what amps did you use back in the day? Also, were your bass pickups stock Fender ones or aftermarket?
@@bucknasty69 Thanks for the shout out. My P/J was put together with early Pre-CBS bass pickups. I preferred the early Fender pickups. I also had an early '56 Maple P Bass neck (looks similar to a Tele bass neck) that I would interchange on my P/J. For live gigs, I liked the Maple neck for crispness for live gigs and the Rosewood neck for Studio work. Amps: Sunn solid state amp heads and 15" JBL speaker cabs (which I made, as well as Theo's). Yes, we used ALL our stage amps for our live concerts. www.robgrangebass.com
@@grange8781 I have to agree. Not only is your playing phenomenal, you had the coolest stage presence of anybody. You're the reason I wanted to play bass instead of guitar !!!!
Ted Nugent's most successful period was with Derek St Holmes & Rob Grange. I saw Nugent's "Cat Scratch Fever" tour in St. Louis, Busch Stadium, Superjam 77, great show! I also saw Ted & Derek at the NRA Convention in St. Louis in 2012. Derek was mingling about the crowd, I thought about saying hello, but he seemed somewhat busy with others so I didn't.
Derek has always been a favorite of mine and he is truly a very nice, genuine human being. As a light tech for a Florida based band in the 80's (Samurai), we opened for Derek at the old American Room Lounge at the Putnam Hotel in Deland,Fl. www.news-journalonline.com/news/20180430/delands-historic-hotel-putnams-future-uncertain-after-fire I had the good fortune to be able to also run the light board for a weekend of Derek'sshows and just hang with him and the band. Superfriendly, lots of "war stories" and a funny guy. Lots of great memories.
@@johnspear3961 I saw Ted back in the day and I kept seeing this other guy singing and ripping ass guitar. Ted was screaming and getting on my nerves, I was crushed
If it wasn’t for him Ted Nugent would’ve had his success Ted Nugent success To This man because Ted Nugent ain’t never really had a hit cents at anything he does live ain’t got the same vibe without this man Ted Nugent was a punk the way he treated him
Missing Ted's legendary guitar and Ted is missing Derek legendary voice.
Derek's a far better guitarist than Ted. Always has been.
This guy's voice is still incredible. Wow!
Derek will always be AWESOME !
The heart of Ted Nugents success. Any music fan worth their worth knows it’s true.
👍🤘😎🤘
Damn str8, well said. How many people STILL don't realize DEREK sang Stranglehold
This dude STILL has the pipes!
You can bet your ass on that
This guy will unfairly fly under the radar for all eternity. Without Derek terrible Ted would have just been terrible
St Holmes MADE the Ted Nugent band successful. His voice is still rock solid.
More like ROCKING solid!
If it was called the Ted Nugent band Derek wouldn't have quit. Derek was upset it was called Ted Nugent.

The Voice and guitar of your favorite Ted Nugent songs
Derek's guitar sounds great!! Very vintage!
This guy's voice is the epitome of what a guy's voice should be. Very cool .. ♥️
Freakin' amazing... Derek always kills it. A true professional who was greatly responsible for getting Ted to the next level.
I always thought Derek was the backbone of Ted Nugent. Any great guitar player can mimic Ted, but it's really difficult to mimic a voice like Derek's.
they can mimic ted's playing to an extent sure, but they cant mimic his attitude and energy
Oh can’t mimic Ted nugent dude. I don’t care who you are. He is one of a kind, guitar skills, attitude and all
Peanut butter and jelly !!
Charlie Huhn did a pretty good job of mimicking Derek’s voice
I'm glad I came across this. Just great!

AHHHH...The GREAT memories of "Double Live Gonzo"!!!
one of the best voices in rock! Good guitar player too !
Hands down my favorite Ted Nugent song. Derek always carried the sound.

This is to "Derek",, I Love It..Keep Rockin🤟🎸🤟.
Nugent and Holmes complimented each other. Nugent was the better guitar player, and Holmes was the better singer.
St. Holmes is no slouch on guitar.
Both are damn good guitar players

That voice at his age!!!!!
Great voice. But ted's guitar is missing for sure.
Definitely
you know that I like it, yes I do.
I wonder if he's paying any royalties to Ted?
I only have one Ted Nugent album. Guess which one?
Band is tight as f
Derek has more talent with guitar and vocals than Ted the Turd Head ever had.
The awesome voice of Ted Nugent.

Need to lose the organ
Dale! I actually like it better!! It fills up the sound more. More of a polished classy sound and less raw!
To much organ sound...... 👎
You mean all through the mix?
