  • The judge in Young Thug's RICO trial punished a woman for taking a trip to the Dominican Republic instead of showing up for jury selection. Rather than hold the woman in contempt, Judge Ural Glanville assigned her a 30-page essay on the importance of jury duty that is due in three weeks.

Either way she could have exposed his dim-witted sentence. There are too many people who will willingly serve jury duty to have to resort to punishing those who clearly don't want to be there and would probably undermine an accused person's defense (or disregard evidence of guilt) by resenting the expectation. WOW I once ignored a jury duty to appear because I have anxiety and panic attacks - well I got a notice to appear in person to explain why I didn’t show up. I brought a doctors note and the judge called me up to the bench and asked why I didn’t show up and I burst into tears and couldn’t talk just handed him the note. He was so nice and said don’t cry young lady I’m gonna put you on the permanent no jury list so I won’t have to go through this again… EDIT: THE JUDGE IN THIS CASE IS INSANE… I was blessed to have an understanding judge - at the time I barely left my house - I didn’t cry on purpose I am a very emotional person…

Second, ppl make lame excuses ALL the time so, Judges are usually skeptical and rightfully so.
Finally, if you have anxiety and panic attacks as bad as you claim. Where a simple question a ten year old could answer makes you cry. Then how do you have the courage to tell the Whole world on the internet? Which will always open you up to criticism. Makes zero sense to me.

Why does she keep saying she saw it on the 30th and if she sent an email then he still wouldn’t have gotten it until the 3rd or so??? She does know email is like instant right? And sometimes it doesn’t even matter when the recipient receives it, it would’ve shown a paper trail/evidence of her trying to prevent issues and remedy the problem immediately. It sounds like she went to the initial jury summons, but knew she had travel and couldn’t do the trial so she didn’t show for the trial? The issue there is if she was already a chosen juror she knew she had to be there. I don’t know why this is so complicated. Thousands or more people are excused from jury duty for the same reason, so it’s not her reason that’s bad, it’s how she went about it. She clearly has a good job if she’s traveling world wide for it, so she shouldn’t have any issues throwing together an essay. 30 pages is a tad much but I’d much rather have a month to do an essay then go to jail.
