Finally a minitruck build, last minitruck build was project bodybag 20 years ago, which really didn't get finished. Excited to see what it's going to look like
Love my 1997 S10. Turned 280k this weekend. 4.3 and get 24 mpg. On the highway. More loyal and trustworthy than any woman I’ve ever known.
330k on my 97 Jimmy. Went through 3 transmissions before I pulled the 4.3 with the last transmission for a 5.3.
Lets bolt everything on that we can. We'll name it "TV Dinner"

I LOVE LOVE the s10 body style, such a great little truck. I had a 96, that truck burned those tires like nothing, such a fun little ride.
I had a 1990 S-10 short cab long bed with the 2.5 Iron Duke and a 5 speed that I got in 2003 or so with 41,000 miles for $800 because it was a R title. The engine fan exploded one day and blew through the bottom of the engine bay. Luckily it didn't go through the hood...lol

I like the vision for the finish truck
First vehicle was 90 isuzu shortbed. Still have her, now shes windsor powered, msd ignition with 2 step, 18 point roll cage, ford 9" narrowed, AOD tranny with 4.56 rear gears, four link with wishbone locator, coilovers, tubed out. Im currently working on the floorboard and transmission tunnel.
Way to put thermostat in wrong. On GM engines, thermostat to intake first , then gasket .

The ones with an o-ring don't need a gasket anyway.

How about a lifted s-10? I like both slammed and lifted. You don't see too many heavy duty lifted s-10s.

15:24 but thats wrong... the fan blades are offset to prevent harmonic noise. Engineers could care less about giving you space to unbolt something

I purchased off the showroom floor a GMC S15 4x4 with a massive chrome package 1986, rollbar with lamps, brush buster with lamps. It was two tone beige and white. Of all the rebuilds and barn finds, I’ve never seen a GMC S15 rebuilt.. I will say, I wasn’t happy with the clutching.

If you really want to have fun with a "mini truck" you should check out NHRA's super stock GT class. I am looking at building a 2000 dime with an L79 327/350 horse from a 66 Chevy 2.

You can buy a full custom frame that will lay rocker with a stock floor for a S10 now.. 😁
I know Minitrucks are still going strong in the South, but in California where the Minitruck Trend began, most are in Southern California, Northern California not so much.

It would be cool to see a JTR/Jags That Run S-10 V8 install, but they likely won't sponsor, so it won't happen. Their motor mounts and manual are really the only things you need to buy from them, but...

Marc. the c10 came with a 4.3 6cel. e ngine.
They used to be cool around here but with all these rich RUclipsrs its all about myscle cars and Lamborghinis... The 80s folk done grew up.
And right now, NOTHING is "cheap" anymore!
So you're basically turning a mini truck into a car... All that crap in the bed makes the bed useless.
Maybe a Thermo Fan instead of that silly clutch.

Not much of an aftermarket for the 4.3 from what i have seen.
Definitely need to bulletproof the transmission, though
