Its a beautiful truck, me and my dad started watching this build together, he loved fall guy, he passed away in march, he definitely would have loved this episode.
With the chrome delete I would have painted the door handles and mirrors. Looks like a base model now. Guess the textured black plastic does match the bumpers though
"Chrome delete" except for the wheels. They swapped out to blacked out or color matched so now those wheels stick out like a sore thumb. I hope there's plans for those.
I’ve always been of the mindset that if you’re going to put a toolbox in the bed, you might as well fill that negative space under it with a transfer tank.
My 2010 has 217,000 miles and still runs like new. No leaks or blowby. These are good engines if you take care of them. I had mine tuned for headers and deleted cats, pedal delay tuned out along with the MDS turned off, and trans pressure increased on the NAG 5 speed auto. I love the way it runs and shifts
I agree, anything you own will last as long as you take care of it. The dropped valve seats, blown lifters, and broken manifold bolts are all symptoms of lack of maintenance and running your motor too hard. All motors have their +/-'s
I'm actually happy to see Power Nation moving on to 'newer' vehicles. Unfortunately the 60s,70s, 80s and 90s stuff is just disappearing in fields, garages, and general price point. Much of this newer stuff is still around, aftermarket support and can be had more price affordable. Id love to a take on a mini truck with a two door tacoma, or a drag ready v8 chevy Impala from like 08
These motors are insanely reliable. You should have ni issue hittinf 300k. Power wise, long tube, bolt on an intake and exhaust with a tune and your tq will go through the roof.
So I should check my lifters and cams it's got 150,000km but was old fisherman's vehicle so has 3000hr drive 300hr idle. But can hear it with a random either lifter or injector knocking randomly so not sure it's lifters tho.
@@andrewmasonwerdnait could be the exhaust manifolds. 5.7 Hemis like to lose a stud or two sometimes on the exhaust manifold and that leak can cause a ticking noise
THANK YOU SO MUCH. THE PERFECT FAMILY HAULER, DAILY DRIVER, AND WORK TRUCK!!!! SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE!!!! TOTALLY AWSOME MAKEOVER!!!! GREAT VIDEO AND THANKS FOR SHARING!!!! TOTALLY AWSOME BUILD!!!!
The 4x4 option and the 65RFE are what's eating the power. Convert it to a 2WD 8HP70 and re-dyno. Add 4.10 final and let MDS give you great highway fuel mileage.
Following this for sure. I am in the process of "refreshing" my 6 speed 2014 right now as well. Its only at 106K miles, but I love this truck and want to make it last for awhile. Eventually I would like to turn up the power just a little bit. The thought of an extra 30-40 WHP would be awesome !
The 545/65RFE undoubtedly is a power drainer along with having weird gear ratios. Interesting that my tuned 370Z makes over 300 at the wheels but my 2015 65RFE 395HP truck would make less HP and barely more torque than the Z. Yes, this is a different dyno, but the HP/TQ range is similar to other dyno runs for this truck. Definitely some driveline loss. I would have loved to see long tubes, better exhaust, and a tune would do for the hemi. I know a cam swap can yield some decent gains.
Here's a new episode idea. 2017 Ford F150 3.5 ecoboost with bolt-on performance upgrades, tune, and dyno results. Maybe even a difference from 93 to E85 to see what the results are. I just so happened to know someone with a 17' 3.5 Ecoboost 😏
Not just the fender, the grill doesn't match either. They probably used the factory paint code and didn't take into account the fading that happens in the real world.
The air intake is a good idea but the aftermarket coils will probably cause a CEL. Dodges really don't take aftermarket electronics too well. The factory coils deliver plenty of spark and are still in good condition if it doesn't have a current misfire.
Save my chrome, please. I have a stock 2009 Nissan Titan, the big one, and I'm about to get lt re-painted. I like all the original chrome, I just don't like the color ofthe paint
Bad experiences with Rockauto, they ship missing parts, wrong items and customer service will allow returns but at your expense and they really don't care if you stay a customer.
Yeah the cam’s cast iron induction hardening is probably already through the surface and on the verge of seizing up a lifter roller if it hasn’t been through the OEM one already. Unfortunately they didn’t get one with the ZF8 trans as that was the first year option.
I love how you know better then say something ridiculous about it will last abother 100k. We all know about the lifters and cams going bad. But you refuse to acknowledge it.
My 2010 has 217,000 miles on the original cam and lifters. I had the MDS tuned out of it at 140,000. Just keep the oil changed every 3000 miles and don't let it idle for a long time on a regular basis. The factory oil pump only supplies about 25 psi at idle and starves the lifters for oil. The cam gets oiled from rundown from the lifters because it is too high up in the block to get splash from the crankshaft.
You turned this into a RUclipsr car channel where you talk talk talk and speed thru the stuff we want to see. Not even as good as the amateur mechanic channels😢😢

I would love to see y'all do a 3rd gen when they FIRST brought the 5.7 hemi back...but a 4x4, build!

The engines are pretty reliable. The transmissions.....not so much. I bet that truck is on its second gearbox AT LEAST.
As long as they don't have a lot of idle time, they're reliable. Fleet vehicles (Police, fire) end up having lifter failure which eats the cam.

Have a 14 also, just praying it doesn't eat a lifter, but it's got 80k on it. Definitely wanna do the delete for the MDS
Just wish mine was a bighorn with that gear, but mine is a longhorn with the higher gear.

The later 5.7s were supposed to make 390hp flywheel, so at least 330whp.

finally, a real man's truck!
That's because Music City Trucks is a show for real men.
3:10 do all hemis that generation have that dip in the torque curve at 4000? I wouldn't have expected that.
The variable valve timing kicks in at 4000.
I have a 2019 Ram 1500. Time for some upgrades....
I predicted around 225hp so I'm happy to be wrong. With that many miles on it it's held up well.
I really thought you would add a shock for the tail gate i got my dad one for his 2010 1500 Laramie he likes it
Forgive my ignorance, but I didn’t know the 5.7 hemi had two plugs per cylinder. Now I know.
Like to see the newer stuff being worked on but even on screen the color of the new fender is way off. Lol
The color mismatch on the front fender would drive me nuts.
Not just the fender, the grill doesn't match either. They probably used the factory paint code and didn't take into account the fading that happens in the real world.
im only here because im waiting on a follow up on a turbo 300 after the help with pmuller and the other guys
Who is that? What have you heard? That was a cool motor and that thing made big power.
The in bed tool box is harder for thieves to spot and fits under a cover.

When is the next episode, what channel does this come on?
What happened to Brandon Burke ? Did he get fired? He seemed like a good guy 👊🏻⚡️🇺🇸
Stick it back on the dyno to see if gained anything
I don’t know I feel like I’m getting atleast 315 to the wheels stock
The bighorn has the pulling gear..
Don't waste your money on any high performance coils. The oem ones work better and reliable and been dyno proven the oem run better!
I don’t know why they prevented to modify hemi’s
The air intake is a good idea but the aftermarket coils will probably cause a CEL. Dodges really don't take aftermarket electronics too well. The factory coils deliver plenty of spark and are still in good condition if it doesn't have a current misfire.
What kind of bumper is that?
figures, I just sold mine........Want my Durango for a prject? lol
Surely, they didn't change the tailgate because it didn't have the soft open feature, then not even show it in action.
It many dents in it.
Very good video.
I can get down with the painted grill having a front grill to match the rest of the truck is nice
lol thought these rams 5.7 made 340 on the dyno lol

Im just waiting on the "its not a dodge ram" lol
I really Object you guys always pulling the Chrome off most of the vehicles you work on. Just like the truck your working now.
Franky is me favorite on powernation.
Finally you get a every day normal truck, I get tired of the older trucks.
14:22 hadn't noticed Eric was packing meat down there , no wonder he comes across as confident , he has a nice one , lol
If youre gonna chanhe a tailgate, spend 5 bucks on the new clips that hold the rods.
Rock Auto is a joke….and that Hemi makes more HP than that…my 5th gen gets over 400 on dyno…
How is it it got 268 hp when here in canada 395 hp and 400 lbs torque
395 is engine horsepower not wheel horsepower. You usually lose over 100 hp through the driveline
6 or 8 speed?
Atf4 so it's the 6 speed.
What happened to the other guy?
One would think a top production like this would actually get the Brand of the truck correct
Sorry, "RAM". Or is it Stellantis, turbo?
Put a turbos
Turbo
It looked better stock chrome on it looks basic with the chapply plastic stuff on it lol
It’s probably manifold bolts broken like 90% of hemis

Better replace that cam and lifters, mine went at 150,000 miles, and that's with changing the oil religiously.
Ram trucks dropped the Dodge branding in 2009. I didn't hear Dodge mentioned at all in the episode, not sure why its in the description.
The person putting these on youtube might not know anything about vehicles but good with computers so who knows lol
Kind of discombobulated video. And I've had mixed result with Rock Auto.
Replace all electrical components and relays. You might have a truck worth driving lol
That really is hilarious 😂 I actually understand what you mean.
"Bighorn...oh the fancy stuff" yeah no bud, the Bighorn is basically a SLT with some nicer options. Nothing really special or high tech.
Using ATF4 instead of 8 speed fluids 😮
RIP MARC
13:17 It should NOT be that easy to lift and carry a bumper.
Ouch rated at 390hp and only has 268hp
390 hp on the engine not at the wheels

Now the cam and lifters will fail. 😂😂
Yeah the cam’s cast iron induction hardening is probably already through the surface and on the verge of seizing up a lifter roller if it hasn’t been through the OEM one already. Unfortunately they didn’t get one with the ZF8 trans as that was the first year option.
