  • THIS VIDEO IS ALL ABOUT HOW THE STAR STITCH IS FORMED. I EXPLAIN IT AT A SLOW PACE SO THOSE WHO ARE QUITE NEW TO CROCHET CAN FOLLOW ALONG. I WORK THE STAR STITCH IN MULTIPLES OF TWO PLUS 4. I ALSO DEMONSTRATE HOW TO GET A NEAT EDGE WITHOUT ANY GAPS. For the tutorial I am using a 5 weight 100% Merino yarn with a 6.5mm hook. The actual wash cloth is made using James C. Brett It's 100%Pure DK Cotton and I used the recommended 4mm hk.
HERE IS A LINK FOR A BORDER THAT WORKS WELL WITH THIS STITCH • EASY CROCHET BLANKET B...

Your explanation is simple and direct, but it's your camera work which I feel far exceeds other videos. It's so important to see which stitches are being talked about that sometimes are not shown as clearly as you're able to do. It's that closeup camera work that makes your video so easy to understand and follow.

@Tiara Lace Crochet • I'm pleased to see so many comments recognizing your incredible tutorial. Your knowledge of what can go wrong for beginning crocheters is remarkable.
For example, you point out the difference between the ridge of the half-double crochet and the stitch behind, which is the knowledge all beginners need. So many other tutorials mention crochet into the next stitch as they fast forward to the end of the row. We end up with a knotted mess, feeling frustrated and incompetent. You have saved us from this negativity.
I also love the fact that you repeated the verbal instructions for each stitch just like our mothers or grandmothers would do as we sat beside them. This repetition allows us to internalize each stitch and you did it for enough rows that we can truly learn it.
Along with your verbal instruction, I love the pace. This is the first tutorial I have seen where I can play the video as I do the stitch.
When I see the quality of your instruction and videography, you remind me of what the founders of the Internet must have dreamed about. An individual, such as yourself, with a particular knowledge and expertise, sharing knowledge with the rest of the world. I'm placing you in my Internet Hall of Fame for RUclipsrs who embody the ideal of the Internet.
    Live long and prosper. 🖖

I LOVE YOUR METHOD FOR THE STAR STITCH !! All the other ones I've seen only used the bottom half of the star, followed by a row of single crochets, then another bottom part of the star stitch. And I knew from stitching them years ago, that there was a top to the stars, but without pulling out my Stitch Bible, I just couldn't remember how to do the top for it. Thank you for teaching the full star stitch and not just the bottom part. Thank you so much.

    Hello Tiara Lace Crochet,
I love your video showing how to do the star stitch with neat edges! I love everything about your video: the background, the colour of the yarn making it easy to see exactly what you are doing, the pace of the video, your calm and kindly voice telling me how to proceed, how you pause now and then to show how the piece is going, and how you patiently explain the subtle nuances of your techniques. The transcript also makes it easy to follow along. I have subscribed to your channel and am grateful for it. You are a very talented lady and I would love to see the face of Tiara Lace Crochet and to know more about you! Just wondering if you're from England. Dear Susan, as a child, I grew up for 3 years in Cirenchester, England. You lovely soft voice took me back to those days sitting in front of a fireplace, turning the pages of House on Pooh Corner as my elderly friend knitted all the while, while reading to me aloud. I was fascinated by the story but moreso by the fact that she could knit without watching her hands. Your sweet tutorial was amazing in that same quiet way. Small miracles blossom at the ends of your fingers while your gentle voice teaches us how to make them ourselves.
What a blessing this little video has been! Thank you so much, dear lady. And bless you! Suzie

Absolutely love this tutorial!! I’ve done star stitch from other tutorials and the edges are a mess and the stars don’t go all the way to the end. I love the close up showing of what loop to close with. Thank you!!

Thanks for designing a straight edge and no gap pattern for the star stitch. I've always loved this stitch, but not the gaps! Wonderful job, Tiara! My next baby blanket is going to be this pattern.
