I lost my entire childhood in this. Couldn't watch tv for more than an hour couldn't play as much as I want because middleclass parents think if their kids do good in school they'll become super successful but they should understand nobody cares about marks. Too much of tv or phone addiction will cause lack of attention or distraction issues..we should be able to focus on doing work without distraction and with full concentration. Watching you tube shorts and other such format videos will cause issues..i think your parents are right in what they were doing.. childhood have to be used for learning and for social interaction with others..this will help us in our adult hood.

Education is not all about schooling studies. Children also need to be taught about how to manage their emotions, thought processes, little bit of psychological strength is very important. I was a victim of being a smart student and I was emotionally and psychologically not strong enough. I had to go through the cycle of depression to understand these things. I learnt to observe myself and my cognitive biases. Still learning. But it’s more important than the marks you see on your mark sheets or packages and money.

She is at par with most of those going for coaching.. I intend to follow the same in her Xth too. Ps- I have just graduated (engg) heavily burned out and not interested in joining corporate sector for now. This video resonates with me very well. It's not that I'm a bad student bt I'm not interested to toil this hard for something I don't like. Kind of fallen into a boring lifestyle without any motivation to do anything. I did okay in my board exams, but others in my class did better than me. In college, I became completely average, struggling to pass, even though I studied just as hard as before. Looking back now, I think it was because I studied too hard when I was very young due to parental pressure, at an age when other boys and girls were enjoying themselves. In Class 12, others also began studying hard and so did better than me. I could not improve because I had already peaked. It got worse in college. It took me a long time to reconcile to my own mediocrity.

I have worked very hard in my 20s and of course I did party hard, and I am reaping its rewards. I am in favor of experimenting but you have to decide to be excellent in at least one thing , I do not resonate with this school of thought as well, ab agar kisi ko muhalle ka best sprinter ban ke rahna hai to rahe, but if you listen to this man, you will embrace mediocrity

Yes bro, studying hard in primary or even high school gives a false impression that we are intelligent. While the fact is we are just doing too much ratta of easy knowledge. Real education only starts in college onwards that too for only science fields. So kids should be encouraged to play more and develop extra curricular talents during school years or findout their fields of interest and focus on study only during college years.

College selection in US for higher education has an old mantra : Don't go to a super top university where you will be in bottom... (Even if you have been offered admission)...
It's better to join a lower grade univ where you can be in comfortable top 25% .
Standford has a syndrome called ' Duck Syndrome ' where univ students sit like zombies in parks... cool from exterior but frantically paddling like a duck from inside.
Long term sustainability of sustained high pressure 😁 has never been achieved by anything or anyone on this earth... volcanoes erupt, earthquakes come...when tectonic plates are under tremendous stress...
    Work smart ....not hard.
Be a professional...not a labourer (even if you are running a Fortune 500 company or a sandwich shop).
Reason for this is Cortisol: an emergency hormone which takes over after adrenaline phase...it is catabolic in nature and slowly destroys you from inside if sustained pressure is there leading to sustained cortisol levels.
Adrenaline+ Cortisol are by definition Emergency Hormones.

There are some tendencies that are commonly found in hard working studying students:
    1. Most of them are nerds.
    2. They frequently ignorant about the concept of sex education, sex chats or sex awareness which will affect their life in the future.
    3. They are very serious about something went wrong even, like comming late in office , talking with their politely even if their parents talking nonsense.
    4. They just obey the boss and their shitty office work like heaven and think that this is the best job in the world
    5. They just want to become something great but not like to do something great except their educational curriculum
    6. Their risk taking ability is very low and they are very much defensive about their carrier.
    7. They just want to marry after achieving something desireble position or money in corporate like even after earning 50-90k pm they do not marry because they set a criteria that it is suitable for him if he will be earning approx 1.5l pm etc. and I am sure that this will ruin their life once again.
    8. They thought that life is all about study but the reality is study is just part of your life.

Like this for kids and even we working professional should stick to routine only this much time for work/reading after that play , household stuffs, socializing , exercise, preparing good food, relaxing etc should not be taken for granted ... Within that much time how much we can understand is what our capacity thats it.... No need to burn out... Life is marathon not short sprint......

This goes on in life so much hard work no enjoyment no social life only parents topic is what your child is doing. Where they join courses without quotas, even if not top level but which are matching to their abilities, black and minority students excel, graduate with flying colors, get good jobs and have a much better life outcome.

If a hardworking person cannot do well compared to a not so hardworking person (say in IIT) it doesn't mean the former cannot do/meant for that thing, it just means the later was tought/knows better/smart approach to learn/do that thing.
People should not be discouraged and stop persuing their interest comparing to others. Hardwork definitely is necessary for success but in right/smart approach.
