Many people would have thought about it at some point in life, when life gets tough, we like to escape. It is natural. Even after we grow, we feel like escaping from work, spouse, boss etc. These rules that parent set are not wrong, they keep us reminded that escaping is not an option. It doesn't matter why you didn't escape, it could be fear of society your parents set, it saved you from being kidnapped or worse things that could have happened. to you

    How could you forget these???
    1. Imposing their dreams upon their children or not letting their children follow their dreams.
    2. Not letting their children choose their life partners.
    3. Not accepting their children's decision to adopt a child, or have child through IVF/surrogacy.
    4. Not allowing children to live as one from LGBTQIA+ community if they recognize themselves being from this community.
    5. Not getting divorce despite being in abusive married life.
    6. Patriarchy, double standards, discrimination between the female child and the male child.
7.Not discussing family problems with children or not involving children in family discussions.
    8. Not letting their children make their own mistakes, experiment, explore and allowing them to learn.
    9. Not unlearning with time.

    Hello Ankur
I would like to highlight rather add one more point which is *Financial Dependency*.
Our parents are financially dependent on us (like we are their retirement pension plan). There is nothing wrong with this as they were raised with same mentality where children were considered as parents pension plan due to which they provided us with everything without saving anything for themselves. So this generation or new parents need to understand that we need to work on our future savings so that we are not burden on our children. Simultaneously we should provide for our parents because they have nothing to spend on themselves also please give them money upfront so that they don't shy away from asking for money for their personal expenses.
I hope my point is clear and helpful in some or other way. Thanks. ❤️

I am 34, not yet a parent standing in the middle where I can realise both sides of being a parent and a child. This content will run deep in the blood of both parents and children. I thank each of you along with Ankur for adding those eye opening examples. I hope this video will bridge the gap between a parent and a child.
I will go and hug my parents after watching this video as now I feel that neither the parents nor the child is wrong, it's just that time flies and change is a constant thing.
    Kudos to Team Warikoo!

The only thing i understand is positivity.A person can be anybody, rich or poor, educated or uneducated, intelligent or not, many things of that kind,if they are of positive mindset, there are less chances of troubles in life. But if a person has negetive mindset, than the life is hell,in any case. Thanks for this topic.I am a sr.citizen and have seen both worlds,I being child and as a parent of two children.

After 7 attempts i still fought to complete the toughest exam to make them proud... My mother still don't trust me..that I can earn my bread well. They are not happy with my chosen partner who earns better than me only because they think he is not educated enough to marry a CA but a just youtuber and comedian. I cannot share my mental health problems with them..my anxiety and depression and constantly going through emotional blackmail. This hits me toughest...

The '11 harsh truths' are entirely correct, especially when it comes to the accountability part.
But I think there are still many parents out there who beat their children, just because they did something which is not acceptable according to them.
Maybe this can comprise the 12th harsh truth.

    Mistakes we do:
    1. Comparisons
    2. Killing curiosity - stopping to ask question
    3. Focusing on society
    4. Looking at the world through their experiences
    5. Emotional blackmail
    6. Dismissing mental health
    7. Lack of trust
    8. Not discussing about money
    9. Ordering
    10. Imposing relations
    11. Not making us accountable

You can also add this to list:
Between children, there is always a procrastinator and an active doer. The parents keep their hopes on the doer but keep pampering the procrastinator whose used to impulsive self benefiting decisions. The doer feels left out, less loved and the procrastinator never grows up to know the realities and accountability. Ultimately, the procrastinator’s responsibility is on the doer which makes him resentful of the parents and the sibling

Great video. You covered almost many things. Basically, give them Independence from very beginning of their life, start with letting them choose color of toys, clothes ( give them choices, if they are not able to decide). Start with small things then going to bigger things. Guide them but let them make mistakes don't scold them for every mistake but teach them to let go and forgive and tell them to learn from their mistakes.

And whenever we differ, we used to tell them that yes, you can do /act what you like but then be ready for whatever the consequncies arise with your action. Of course this discussion was a nice discussion, not a threat! Many a times it happened that after thinking over the matter our sons would do what we had suggested, but it was with their understanding, not taking that as our command! :-D

Also, for many parents, raising a child is like 'bhudape ka Sahara banega', hence they try to control their children at every point of life, even when they r grown up.
And, if they have more than 1 child, they will pick their fav.

Felt this to the core. I asked my parents for a year break after graduation so that I could take care of my mental and physical health and then would resume back for masters. I desperately wanted to make things right in my life. I've had an extremely turbulent life in school and at home. It shook me to the inside. I beg in front of them and cry so much for there emotional support, but it just never comes. I've still come this far pushing myself at every point thinking maybe I'm at fault. But I'm unable to continue. I need some time to myself. But they won't listen. All I wanted was there emotional support apart from the financial support they give. Whenever I'd be physically unwell, they would take care but always keep scolding me that its my fault that i got sick, but when im mentally low, they would see me crying so much at home, and emotionally manipulate me, scold me, would never even sit beside me or hug me for once and pacify me and support me. I feel depressed but i kept going, just now i wanted a break but they won't give me that. But this video made me cry, it touched me.
