4K footage was a proof of its capability, I say that 1080p resolution is what will be most common to use when video calling or conferencing. It was a trade off of recording at higher resolution to show detail in an overall 4K upload here on RUclips, or showing less detail because I'm blowing up a 1080p resolution capture in a 4K timeline.
Quality is definitely good for a webcam. That tea shot looked great. It does seem a bit choppy though, like it isn't running at a full 25/30fps. I imagine that's related to recording at 4K like you mentioned. I remember that tea tin! I never drank it though, I'm more of a milky tea guy.
Please don't omit the 4$ subscription price, that's pretty scammy imo. I get that it's not a lot, but every time companies go that route, subscription prices go up with time. Also, software doesn't work offline. I wouldn't be surprised to see a privacy leak 2 years from now. Too critical? Maybe. i just hate subscriptions.
To be fair, I recorded most of the on Opal footage at 4K resolution which is a great feature but is pretty intensive. At 1080p, which is the most common webcam/video streaming resolution, it will be nice and smooth. Also, settings like brightness and colors can all be tweaked in the app!
PSA: What a horrible camera. I bought this camera a couple weeks ago, such a nightmare to setup and always out of focus. Software doesn't work properly, and support (or the lack there of because their customer service is just as bad) made excuses for where to plug it in. I returned it, I got so tired of it. What a waste of time and money. If you see RUclipsrs or IGers talking well about this camera, saying MKBHD invested in it to use it as a plus, they're probably cross-advertising, don't fall for it.
Wow the frame rate is terrible. maybe you should share some 1080p footage. Wouldn't expect anything else from a sponsored ad.
The Opal footage all seems to be low frame rate or something? Quite choppy.
Strange that you haven't mentioned the strangely low refresh rate from the cam capture... When it's clearly slow

The Opal seems really sharp and good in direct comparison to the MBP, but the colors seem oversaturated, dark and the image is laggy. 1:08

Good Evening Sir JV 💚
can make a comparison between OPAL C1 & Razer Kiyo pro ultra PlEAAAAASE
I assume the quality will be the same if I use my pixel 2xl as webcam?
Awesome 👍👍
Interesting web cam, i use my old Pixel 3a as a webcam with Droidcam
What camera did u used to shoot yourself?

high rez but so choppy, pass 😅
I would not use it for 4k, so what was the point recording it at 4k, silly... it is all choppy....
