- This episode we're taking a look at Star Wars: Republic Commando. This beloved tactical FPS was developed by Lucasarts for the Xbox and PC. It takes place during the clone wars and stars Delta Squad, a group of four elite clone commandos. They are tasked with the Republic's most dangerous and difficult assignments. Let's revisit this game and see what all the hype was about.
This also marks the end of season one of the Breadballer Retrospective series. I plan on doing a season recap eventually where I reflect on the episodes, including corrections, things I missed/fact checks, and what I learned from making these videos. Thank you all for tuning in the past couple of months!

This was the golden age of Star Wars video games goddamn I mean we got BATTLEFRONT 2 AND REPUBLIC COMMANDO in like 1 year and a half
I wish we also had their sequels, Imperial&Rebel Commando as well BF3&4.
The same year. 2005 was the year of Star Wars and we'll never get another year like it. You had Star Wars: Republic Commando, Lego Star Wars: The Video Game, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of The Sith (the video game tie-in), Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of The Sith (the actual movie), and Star Wars: Battlefront II.
A badass game and one the top best Star Wars games, it's just really amazing how are connected these missions and man those super battle droids are just a nightmare, great retrospective 👌💯.
Great game, gonna replay it soon. All the old Star Wars games for that matter, it's been a while.
One of my favorite channels talking about one of my favorite games! Thanks for another great video. I hope you get the recognition you deserve.
You causally covered a majority of my childhood in a matter of months, props dude. I lived off of commando and battlefront 1&2 classic when I was younger. ❤️🔥 stay strong bro
This to me is THE game. My absolute favorite that gaming as a whole has to offer. Played a lot of it as a kid, had it on the original Xbox. Few years ago I picked the switch version up and finally beat the game for the first time after getting stuck on the like two minute slice towards the end of the geonosios mission. It’s funny how difficulty feels in games to me. If I get stuck on something I’m playing casually that I got on sale for cheap, I basically just stop playing the game. But if it’s a game I’m invested in as much as Republic Commando? I just keep attempting it, and man it felt so rewarding.
"Scorch, I need a big hole right here"
Loved this game as a kid. Great video, I love your voice over work. It sounds very soothing and laid back 👍🏿
Freaking love this game. It’s definitely among my favorite Star Wars games along with battlefront 2 (2005) and the ps2 version of the force unleashed
i really enjoy ur videos man keep it up please honestly
Such an amazing old game.
but it was yesterday
I loved how this game pairs well with the Commandos book series. Read it all up on my Kindle when I was in the army it was my form of "Xbox".
I was today years old when I found out the voice actor for SEV and the clones in BF2 wasn't the same guy. I always assumed they just had him in studio and he voiced both! EDIT: Okay what's even more confusing is the voice actor for SEV does also voice act for BF2 but he's not the announcer!
HOW'D I MISS THE RELEASE AGAIN? i literally just said "YOOO BREADBAKKER RETROSPECTIVE" outloud lmao, cant wait to dig into this awesome sounding video
Wish disney never bought out star wars maybe then a sequel happening would still be a possibility
Disney really shat the bed giving EA that exclusive license. It's insane that there were so many Star Wars games in the 2000s yet in the 2010s it was pretty much just The Old Republic and the two rebooted Battlefronts.
@@breadballerit's crazy to think how fucking massive the star wars franchise is and they never cashed in on gaming. Star wars is so expensive you could literally make hundreds of games and have them all feel different and unique. I was for sure star wars would become way oversaturated in the gaming space. But sadly it never happened
This game made people's immediate fear of wookies make sense
This was one of my favorite games growing up! Please do a retrospective on Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2!
Loved playing Revenge of the Sith and KOTR as well! Did you play that as well? Would love to have a video on it!
I remember playing Revenge of the Sith with the same friend I first played BF2 with. KOTOR I don’t think so. At least I can’t remember. Definitely possibilities for future videos though.
@@breadballer, at the same time, I understand that, for now, this is just a hobby for you and that it might be quite overwhelming with the sudden spike. Take your time, and just what you want to do, the way you wanna do it. We're all rooting for you!
The Lizard people are Trandoshan, Genosians are the bug people.
Pistol counters scavenger droids
Republic Commando and Halo 2 were in development around the same time. Republic Commando got delayed.
RC deserved a sequel.
you should do the other Star Wars games too
you get two blue lego star wars coins for this one
this game reminds me of halo reach
Yeah I got a bit of that too. It's the squad elements plus being elite soldiers among regular infantry. In that regard I think of ODST as well.
0:16 huh? Idk
lame
