Pretty bad when the chinese knock off beats the hell out of your own product lol. I wonder if youtube is going to start censoring people exposing scams!!!

      ya funny and too gullible, all I saw in this video was a lot of hand gestures and a lot of talking at no point in time did he open the device and of course if you buy it from a different website it's not going to say the name brand because you're buying it from a different website its not the best review i seen. also what kind of credit card do u have helps a lot. if u buy something and its defective u can always get your money back

      @@joeb7291 You did not watch the video very carefully then. I stated quite clearly that I bought it right from the fuze bug website.
      I am starting to wonder if all you people that keep saying this same thing are not working for Fuze Bug and are intentionally misquoting my statements to cast doubt on this honest review.

    Four things caused my guard to go up concerning these things. First, the claims seemed extravagant. Second, when I tried to find reviews, all the articles I found on the internet claiming to be reviews were in fact advertisements, not reviews, until I found this video. Third, I tried to find evidence of the award that the contraption supposedly won, and couldn't find any evidence of the award by the name given. Fourth, the contraption is not sold on Amazon, which always has reviews of all products. I imagine they didn't want to sell it on Amazon because they didn't want honest reviews to be posted on it.

    • @nothingbutgadgets
      @nothingbutgadgets  3 года назад +13

      Thanks. Actually, I did find it on amazon and ebay, but under very different names. I put warning links in the description to these product pages so people would know that it was the same thing. Please do not buy this item through those links, they are just there to demonstrate that this same product is being sold under many names on different sites. Unless, of course, you just want a really funky-looking rechargeable flashlight/camping light. LOL!
      Side note: Last night (4th of July), the mosquitoes were so bad on my deck that we could not even go out to enjoy fireworks. They were unbearably thick. I had company over and I was showing them the FuseBug. I stuck it on my deck for two hours where the mosquitoes were so thick people were running into the house to get away from them. In two hours, it caught ONE mosquito. Not a surprise, but still funny to me considering what the claim about this product is.

      RUclips has ads that say kills mosquitos "within 6 minutes", well was that in a glass jar or in a bathroom or outside and did you spray attractant on it :) ? How can you prove that, where is any true data on this thing? To me that is a total baloney claim. The Fuze Bug website just bombards you with advertisement lines about how great it is rather than quality specs or data. The lower sections of the webpage is made up like smoke and mirrors to keep people pumped up about it. That to me shows they have to prop it up, it cannot just stand on it's own and do what it says. In addition, all the reviews on the website are dumb statements about barbequing and being outdoors and having fun rather than the product and they are 5 stars which we all know is not real to life. Once I saw that I knew it was fake and I would not buy. I also went to Amazon to see what people said and I did not find it there.

    I purchased one without doing any research. The ads really bamboozled me lmao can't believe I fell for it. I knew the moment I looked at the box that I had been swindled. I emailed the company to ask for a refund and they refunded 75 percent of what I paid without having to return it. I honestly feel lucky to get anything back after seeing how shady the advertisements were. The customer service was really fast too. Initiated the refund within one hour of me emailing them.
    I gotta say I still think this deserves a lawsuit. After looking at their website it seems they have their bases covered. The fine print says something along the line of we reserve the right to say whatever we want about the product even if it's a lie. They shouldn't get away with it though. They paid Google to make sure the right things show up when searching. A lot of fake reviews that are basically ads and a lot of them are designed to intrigue the skeptical consumer.
    Despicable business practices.

    Harbor Freight has one like this in gray for $12. No solar panel, but a 4hr charge and it works for crazy hours. Worked GREAT in the tent. Slept with the blue light on hanging from the top of the tent and we didn’t get bit once. It killed all the mosquitoes that’s got it. There was prolly ~20 dead ones and a couple larger bugs dead inside. Think it has to be in an enclosed space.

Completely agree with this review>had it out fo the first time on the weekend at the Cottage and not a single mosquito did it kill, or attract to it, Interesting could not find a site that sells this product that allows for reviews and now I know why. Do agree that the flashlight strobe and camping light is very good. I also had this product out on the sun all day and it barely lasted a few hours on the sunlight charge had to recharge it vis the USB cable. DO NOT buy as a mosquito killer does not work

    I'm a mosquito magnet. I get bitten in just the few seconds it takes to put the garbage out. I'm left with huge, itchy welts that last for days and even have some scars on my arms, legs and neck from all the scratching of the worst ones over the years. Ironically, I love the outdoors-walking in a park, hiking, biking, and just sitting on the back deck on a nice evening. The mosquitos make these things hard to enjoy, so I was interested in these lamps. Bought 2. Haven't tried them yet, mosquito weather is only now just starting here, but this review has disheartened me. Oh well. The lamps are at least good, rechargeable outdoor lanterns and have a strobe feature which will come in handy for Halloween, as we're big Halloween fans around here.

    I had my ad blocker off for a day and saw the ad for this thing this morning. I agree it is a good ad, meaning I really wanted it to be true because who doesn't love the college kid living the American dream theme? But then I noticed they were claiming it emitted precisely the right color of UV light to attract mosquitoes, but what they were showing looked like a rainbow of LEDs decorating a medicinal herb vaporizer. One would probably be better off partying with stoned mosquitoes who keep forgetting they were trying to satiate their munchies. As an aside, I know more legit bug zappers use black lights, but why on earth would night feeding insects be attracted to a color of light that is absent at night? Shouldn't the little flying vampires use thermal infrared? Maybe their eyes would have to be too big for their heads? Anyway, thanks for making the video.

    I've been using bug zappers for years and to the best of my knowledge I never killed a mosquito. We use large AC powered units occasionally to eliminate nuisance insects. These are harmless bugs that hatch in the spring and make a mess of the house if not controlled. True mosquito killing machines are possible but require replication of a live blood source.

    I've been getting ads with exactly the same format but for many other random things (like AC, roofing, car econ, etc.). This was another thing I see them for. The ads are these shady computer-voiced explanations of random college students "discovering" things, telling their professors, usually getting expelled from school, and doing these things themselves. I find these kind of ads abominable, and the companies behind these false advertisements should be sued and TAKEN DOWN! Of course, I have no clue if that's possible or even worth it, but people are tricked by the smooth-talking, and somebody is getting money for it.

    • @nothingbutgadgets
      @nothingbutgadgets  Год назад

      Exactly! Like you, I have seen several ads that use the same format for all kinds of things. It is sad and disgusting. But, as long as these types of ads are successful, they will keep running them.
      There is little to be done other than exposing them like I did here. These ads are coming out of other countries that are outside of US law and enforcement. If a US company were responsible, we could file and FCC complaint and sue them, but since they are not in the US, that is not an option. Google Ad services are the ones running the ads, so there may be something that could be done to Google to encourage them to be more careful of these type of ads, but you have to understand that Google is staffed by people that might not be savvy enough to know that these ads are scams. And there in lies the problem. These ads are good enough to fool the people that would be in the position to weed them out. I know to you and I they are obviously a scam, but the fact that they keep running them means that millions of people do not immediately detect that they are scams. They would not keep running them if they did not work. We would like to think that the people working at Google would be smart enough to know what a scam is, but if you have ever called customer service, you would know better. 😉

      @@JosephusAD70 It is very upsetting, but it is a sad fact of reality in the world we live in. The issue with prosecuting these scam companies is that they are in foreign countries. The US has consumer protection laws, but those laws only apply to the US. The US has no authority to enforce them outside of our borders. The internet, however, has no borders. So that is the problem. We live in a world that is divided by sovereign borders, but we are interacting as a global community without borders on the internet.
      The US cannot send the police to China or Kenya to arrest a scammer. The most they can do is ask that country to go after the scammer. However, from an economic standpoint, scammers are good for foreign countries, because they bring in billions of dollars in revenue to the country's economy. In a lot of cases, the scamming is done with the country's blessing, or it is officials within the government that are actually heading up the scamming operations. That is the sad reality of the situation.
      The best we can do right now is to make wise choices about the products we buy. The internet is a powerful tool. Like any powerful tool, it can be used for good or bad. Some use it for evil; I try to use it for good.
