I have gen.2 and it works like a charm, sometimes I use it in my backyard and every time I go hiking. I confirm it is the best hiking gadget I ever bought and it works!
This thing is awesome, 2 years using. You get about 12-15 foot radius, as long as wind is mild. BUT THE RELIEF you get is so worth it. Definitely thumbs up on this.
I’ve used the hand sized version too. I like this burner better; no separate tank is great. Regardless of the heating element, this technology works! 🙂👌
I just came back from a holiday in Lapland, Finland. Ofcourse I had some mosquito repellent with me, but when you put the repellent on your skin, the mosquitos still land on your clothes and try to sting you. On the campsite where I was, another person told me to try this " thermacell" . I was very sceptic in the first place ofcourse. But after like 10 minutes, I noticed less mosquitos arround me. After 15 minutes the entire place arround me was mosquito free!!! Maybe I sound like a person from a Tell-sell commercial right now, but it really works, so good!! Its really like a " shut up and take my money" situation! I had a mosquito-free evening from 6 pm when I turned it on , untill 1 am when I turned it off and went to bed. this is serious one of the best inventions against mosquitos EVER!!
Thanks for the recommendation. This is the first time I heard about this. I’m so glad I saw your vid. I was looking for something like this to go camping in June. I just bought mine.
My first hunting Thermacell I bought in 1999 carried it for a year with using it, ended hunting a swamp in 2000 with the best MOSQUITOES suit made on and just the sound of the hundreds of those pesty bitches (females only bite) was driving me crazy. Pulled it out, set it down between my legs and three minutes later they were gone. I bought every variety made during that time and gave them out to the family for xmas gifts. Now I'm going to order this one too.
Great video! I seen a adapter on Scamazon that will allow you to run your bupane skeeter thing off protane too! I’m gonna git that! I’m a scubscriber now 👍🏼
Thermacell being a little expensive as it is for its replacement pads/canisters, this thing is a blessing! I left my Backpacker on several nights by accident, only to realize two days later it was still on, and the darn thing lasted two more years with regular use (3-4 hours a night, 3x a week). Anyway, great product!
Great review! I just got back from camping trip in north eastern Minnesota, and the bugs where the worst I've seen in years . One of those will be with next time I go into woods!
I have a ThermaCell300 and I don't even bother packing it anymore. It does NOTHING! It may be attracting them for all I know but even after running for 30-45 minutes, I notice no difference in the mosquitos at all.
Bro you focusing on all the wrong things here. The music is upbeat and sets a positive mood, reflecting this man and what he is doing here lol. Ease up buddy! Much love
@@zakkmiller8242 I know Im only mentioning one thing and being critical about it...Of all the places one can easily go wrong in production this is something easier to fix then many. I am a music director & wouldn't have made the comment if I didn't think it was constructive or worth consideration.
You can't really use the canister stove and repel mosquitoes at the same time. The bugs always come out when you stop and cook, so I'll stick with my Thermacell 300.
Any slight breeze while camping, which usually involves open water sites, this product will simply be ineffective, burning money and not being efficient at all...
Many times I find the pads ONLY work for an 1 1/2- 2 hours MAX.! I too have been using the same can of fuel for 2 years but I've gone through a S..t-ton of VERY EXPENSIVE pads!
I know I'm probably not suppose to, but I throw it in the tent or under my hammock tarp 15 minutes before getting in to make sure I get a peaceful night sleep without the buzzing in my ears.
I got a tiny container of DEET from an American friend many years ago and it's worked marvelously for me. I don't know if there are better things these days but I have my doubts about this fumigator being more effective. Also it looks kind of bulky, I usually camp only with what I carry and typically gas canisters is not something I have around.
Convinced me, just ordered one with a 230gram (8.11 ounce) camping gas tank. I wasn't keen on having to stock camping gas, everything I use uses the 1 lb propane tanks I refill off the 20 lb'ers. We'll see if it works!
I am definitely getting one of these for my wife for when we go RVing. She won’t even stay outside after dark because of mosquitoes. Would you recommend a different version for this application?
Hey Jason, this will be GREAT for RVing. You can buy bigger patio versions of Thermacell... but to me what I like about this version is that it will be also useful for you for backpacking trips when it's really buggy. I know you might not want to carry the extra weight but it's such a game changer! especially if you plan on spending a descent amount of time at camp! If you hammer the miles sun up to sun down and you go to sleep this is not useful but if you are hanging out at a campfire at night with buddies... it's a game changer.
Got it, thanks Marty! I think I might buy two of them to make sure we’re covered around the campfire at night. And I’ll definitely use them on my kayak camping trips too!
@@martymorissette they claim its because of the altitude but they don’t stay lit for me in West Virginia as well. I have both the portable ones and the backpacking one. Strange thing was the only time it worked was when covered completely in my hammock
I call bullshit! This is a paid advertisement. I was hopeful when I got one of these. I gave it a chance a few times. Right now, it’s on and by me feet, I am having a hard time typing this as I am also trying to smack the mosquitoes on my legs, arms, around my head. Lame
isnt this just a mosquito coil but dependant on patented pads and butane to work instead of just burning by itself? i think they invented nothing, they just made their model to make more money!
1 can for just over 3 years? 180 hours is like 15 12hour nights. So you spend 2 weeks camping every 3 and a bit years? lol Either way one can of gas is worth it for 15 nights of no bugs
I wish I would be on the'' It works great clan''........but I am not. I have 2 MR450 that do the same job as this unit, tried them in many ocasions hoping that it will work but.... nothing, on or off, same results, none! @@martymorissette There is a way to let in more air so it works at high altitudes, but then it doesn't work at low elevations. You would need 2 of them, which is no bid deal really.
Key word "bugs" not mosquitos. Mosquitos are attracted to Co2, so good luck keeping mosquitos away. No device on this planet can protect you. But this should keep bugs, moths etc. away, which really don't matter.

You mentioned it uses butane. It is just because of the connection?
Have you used the fuel adapters and test it with propane or isobutane?
I have not tried it
works very well with mosquitoes. but the little black flies does not understand the concept of the 15x15 dome hehe

Why not a 15ft radius?

is the bug repellent mat a standard version or is it proprietary and must be bought by thermacell?

@@martymorissette same with me! Way to harsh of a chemical. I don't believe it's safe either.

Nope never tried actually
I haven’t found a thermacell that works. They all refuse to stay lit out here in Idaho

Fantastic review, my man.
Thank you!!!
Thanks!!
Will this work on a colmen propane tank or just the butane
This one is designed for a butane mix.
Would it work with propane?
Well you would need the adapter for the tank to fit on the device… and I don’t see why it would work
So for the smallest canister which is ~100hours you would need 25 of the replacement pads to burn that long?
Indeed those Matt’s you change every 3 to 4 hours. You buy them separate.
And they’re a few bucks a piece. Most of these cost about $6 per hour to operate. Sometimes this is worth it. I hate mosquitoes.
Great vid. thanks!
Thank you!!!
Is this the best gadget you can get from mosquitoes what would be considered better than this?
I don’t know it’s the best I’ve tried
For "all night long" run you have to wake up every 3 -3,5 hours :D
Indeed but I usually just fall asleep and let it burn all night without changing the matt unless I'm waken up by bugs...
I’m not convinced by this, it’s all down to wind strength and direction.
isnt this just a mosquito coil but dependant on patented pads and butane to work instead of just burning by itself? i think they invented nothing, they just made their model to make more money!
haha well... to be honest I don't know if the chemical between the green coil and this is different... but I find this works better....
