i have used Rx azeliac acid and i love how it takes away the redness of my skin. I actually used naturium's niacinamide cleanser and moisturizer and it gave me a reaction. do you think it was too much niacinamide? even though i have used it in the past and loved it. this product has both ingredients so I'm skeptical.

I recently started using azelaic acid to reduce redness in my cheeks. It works to show an immediate difference but as soon as I apply moisturizer the redness returns. I have tried using it as the last step as well, but same result.

I just talked to my derm about this. He told me if I’m TTC it technically doesn’t matter but I wanted to be cautious to avoid retinoids and exfoliants, since they can’t be tested on pregnant women to know if they are pregnancy safe or not. Azelaic acid is safe however along with the hydrating ingredients. I hope that helps. I know I’m not a professional by any means but I just asked my derm about this at my recent appointment and figured I would pass that along.

The only studies that have observed benefits of azelaic acid to the skin are the one with concentrations between 15%-20% (prescription strength). I will definitely keep using the prescription one if I were you.
I struggled so much with congested skin, especially around the jawline. I was getting big under the skin pimples and texture on my cheeks. I’ve been using her azeliac acid for a few months and have barely gotten any breakouts. I bet this will perform just as good!

I had no reaction to the skin patch test but when I put it on there was a little sting but it went away after a minute. I did see Dr. Alexis Stephen's video about azelaic acid that it may sting a bit but that it was normal. I did not get any other reaction so I feel like my skin can tolerate it. My question is how do I layer this with vitamin c. Which product first?
Unfortunately, azelaic acid is a regulated medication ingredient in Canada (by Rx only) so this is very unlikely to be introduced here. Neither the Paula's Choice nor the Ordinary azelaic acid is allowed to be sold here. Finacea 15% azelaic acid gel is incredibly affordable in Canada though! And your GP/NP can prescribe it no problem.

I just purchased the Azelaic Acid Emulsion. I am looking for something to assist with acne on the chin from mask wearing and some dark spots like on my cheek and jaw. Naturium Azelaic Acid was a suggestion in a skincare group. In the past I attempted TO Niacinamide & Zinc which my sensitive skin did not agree with. I also see there is Topical Azelaic Acid also but I wasn't sure which one would be more beneficial and thought maybe the Emulsion will be better however I'm not really sure as I see the Emulsion and Topical are different in a few ways. One having Bio Retinol and one Vitamin C for instance I also only plan to use this at night and start it off maybe 2 or 3 times a week? Does this product also cause purging?

I'm so interested in this but a little afraid -- pure Azelaic Acid usually makes my skin itch. I've tried The Ordinary and Curology and both make my face itch like crazy unless I wait to apply them 20-60 minutes after the rest of my skincare. I've been loving the Naturium Azelaic Acid 10% topical serum -- the Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate (PAD) derivative is so gentle and doesn't irritate my skin at all.
Would this replace the Azelaic topical acid? That’s the one I’ve currently been using. I see where you said they can be used together, but if you had to choose which one would you use?

Yes! It’s more creamy than the gel-like serums, so I apply this as my last serum before moisturizer.

I use prescription azelaic acid but the feel of it is very thick, it pills up sometimes with my spf in the morning. Curious to try this out!
I use a couple of drops of peptides or any hydrating serum with my 20% a.a. and it works beautifully. I give it 2 min to set in before I apply my SPF

There isn’t a vitamin A derivative! It’s completely different and gentle. 👍

There's little point to using both. This will be slightly better since it is pure azelaic acid instead of a derivative like in the serum.

I just purchased the Azelaic Acid Emulsion. I am looking for something to assist with acne on the chin from mask wearing and some dark spots like on my cheek and jaw. Naturium Azelaic Acid was a suggestion in a skincare group. In the past I attempted TO Niacinamide & Zinc which my sensitive skin did not agree with. I also see there is Topical Azelaic Acid also but I wasn't sure which one would be more beneficial and thought maybe the Emulsion will be better however I'm not really sure as I see the Emulsion and Topical are different in a few ways. One having Bio Retinol and one Vitamin C for instance
I also only plan to use this at night and start it off maybe 2 or 3 times a week? Does this product also cause purging?

I'm so interested in this but a little afraid -- pure Azelaic Acid usually makes my skin itch. I've tried The Ordinary and Curology and both make my face itch like crazy unless I wait to apply them 20-60 minutes after the rest of my skincare.
I've been loving the Naturium Azelaic Acid 10% topical serum -- the Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate (PAD) derivative is so gentle and doesn't irritate my skin at all.
Would this replace the Azelaic topical acid? That’s the one I’ve currently been using. I see where you said they can be used together, but if you had to choose which one would you use?
If you need to choose one, pick this one. It's pure azelaic acid. The topical acid is a derivative and not as well studied.
