The late, great Tony Scott at the helm.
Shane Black as the hottest screenwriter on the scene at the time.
A buddy action flick that could stand Toe to Toe with the other classics.
Willis is perfectly casted as an hero despite himself.
One of BW's first jobs before acting was at a private investigation firm. No doubt that his work at that job, played a part in helping this role and also in the Die Hard films.
Wayans doing his first blockbuster feature after 'In Living Colour' fame.
Halle Berry after her debut in Jungle Fever, same year.
Martial Arts legend Billy Blanks (football player Billy Cole) in his film debut and
in the most unexpected moment of the film.
    The one-liners are undenialble.
Action scenes are off the charts.
Willis & Wayans were an unlikely pair (it still worked).
It's all over the place with enough time to keep up with it.
Btw, the movie that Joe's daughter is watching on tv was Lethal Weapon.

My cousin is one of the main villains in this. The guy who opens the briefcase and blows up at the very end. I wish I'd known he was an actor while he was still alive. I remember my grandmother always talking about "Cousin Noble" but I didn't know it was this guy. He died in 2004. Only memory I have of him is from a family reunion in Quitman Texas in the 80s. I was a little kid and I remember him helping me fix my plate of food lol. I love this movie and The Howling which he's also in. Sad I never got to actually talk to him about them when I was older..

Sound like this film was giving us a little taste of Die Hard with a Vengeance and Die Hard 4.0
    1. Bruce Willis teaming up with Damon Wayans/ Samuel L Jackson to work on a case.
    2. Bruce Willis' characters having family fiction with his wife,
    3. Bruce Willis' character having a falling out with his daughter, until they bury the hatchet.

I love Shane Black movies. Pretty sure I've seen them all. My mates hates that I like his Predator movie too. He's a big Predator fan. I just love Shane's humour in movies. I remember hearing DC wanted to make a Green Lantern series like a buddy cop show with Hal Jordan and John Stewart. I'd have Shane Black write it. It'd be so good.

Arguably Willis' best role & film outside the DIE HARD franchise. Zero fucks given and channeling his inner Bogart he makes it look effortless at being both self-loathing and undeniably cool. Lots of fun and packed with action - another Shane Black Christmas set joint (now you need to see his KISS KISS BANG BANG & THE NICE GUYS). I'm so glad you FINALLY got to this and knew you'd both love it!

Dude, you guys totally made my year with this reaction! Thank you so much! I was wondering if anyone was gonna react to this flick or if they even knew of its existence. Glad to see this flick hasn't fallen into obscurity.
OctroKrool, everything you and your brother said about this movie at the end was spot on correct: Joe Hallenbeck is the 'Knight in Sour Armor' but for all intents and purposes, he's still The Last Boy Scout. And the funny part is with Bruce Willis' success and Daman becoming a rising star with 'In Living Color' you'd think this would've turned into a franchise. You can thank Shane Black for the one-liner delivery in this...the guy's screenplay writing skills are phenomenal (well, that is until The Predator came out). But beyond that, Shane is a talented writer and producer.
The one-liners, the action, the characterization for this flick are all spot on.
Oh, just in case you're wondering...the girl who played Darian was portrayed by none other than the lovely and talented Halloween alumni herself, Danielle Harris...the lady who brought a new dimension to the Halloween series with her portrayal of Jamie Lloyd. Ya' know, me and some of my peeps used to talk about a sequel involving her called 'The Last Girl Scout', where Darian follows in her dear ole' dad's cynical footsteps.

    1. Loved this movie. Too bad they couldn't have made a follow-up. It's because the production of this was so chaotic. In a New Yorker profile, Joel Silver said that the making of this film was "one of the three worst experiences of his life." Tony Scott also spoke about how miserable production was, largely because Silver and Bruce Willis took over the production, altered parts of Shane Black's script, and made him shoot scenes he hated under threat of being fired and having to forfeit his salary.
    2. Mike/Bruce McGill 44 years and pounds ago played "D-Day" in "Animal House"
    3. Darian/Danielle Harris played in "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead" and you should see her now. OUCH😍💕
    4. Aside from the end of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" this has the best bad guy goes down death with the helicopter stunt.
    5. Missing you Bruce.😰

One of action/comedies best hidden gems of all time as the team up here is one of the best and this movie was just insane from start to finish, some really hardcore subject matter. Another great action/comedy that is even lesser known this this, is Carl Weathers in "Action Jackson" from a few years before this. For sure put it on you guys to watch list, as the one liners are the stuff of legend, you won't be disappointed.
