    Lloyd Bridges and Leslie Nielsen had two careers each. They both started out as serious actors and finished up as absolutely hilarious comedic actors. God bless them and may they rest easy knowing how much laughter they have left behind as their legacy.

      @@TheMrPeteChannel I think from comedy standpoint he was primarily a supporting actor. He was in the first airplane he was in Hot shots and a few others that revived his career to a degree.

    The dentist gag is a spoof of a terrifying scene from the thriller Marathon Man starring Dustin Hoffman. You gotta watch Hot Shots Part Deux. Lloyd Bridges is just as good. He gets upgraded to the President.

    Lloyd Bridges (Admiral Benson) has absolutely flawless comic timing in both this and Airplane. Incidentally he's the father of Jeff Bridges, if you weren't already aware!

    Lloyd Bridges made every movie he was a part of. He absolutely stole the show when he was on-screen.

    Also, "Is it safe" is a reference to a 1976 movie called Marathon Man in which a character played by Dustin Hoffman is tortured by a dentist.

    I'm sure this has been well covered. The piano scene was a spoof forge Fabulous Baker Boys with Michelle Pfeifer singing and Jeff and Beau Bridges as pianist brothers. The Admiral is Lloyd Bridges (RIP), their father.

    I haven't seen "Hot Shots" in such a long time, I forgot so many of the gags, so many of them where completely new again.

    I've been using the crab line since my dad introduced me to this movie about 15 years ago.
    "There were 2 crabs, they work in pairs. I went to Annapolis for Christ's sake". Lmfao.
    My dad, and grandpa, went to Annapolis lol.

    I’ve pulled a “drinks on me” in a bar before. The bar had a gambling machine ( blackjack/slots) and I hit the jackpot so I bought the bar a round. Then I hit a second jackpot on a different game. It’s the craziest day I ever had to this day and honestly I don’t think I’ll ever top it.

    Me and my little brother walked into the theater for a matinee to see this. It was us and one little old lady. She left after two minutes and we cried laughing for the rest of the movie. LOVE this movie!

    Lloyd Bridges, who was the father of actors Jeff Bridges and Beau Bridges, also appeared in AIRPLANE II: THE SEQUEL (1982) and HOT SHOTS! PART DEUX (1993). His final role was another parody, MAFIA! (1998). All recommended.
