Not what I expected as I know what you expect from a GM product. Can Cadillac push this level of luxury down into their sedans and smaller products? Or did they pound the money into the Escalade because they make big $$ from big trucks (and no competition in this segment as you point out).
No foreign competition but Lincoln has really stepped up their game and their new SUVs are very, very nice. I think GM is pushing Cadillac to provide real luxury competition to foreign brands so I expect to see this level of luxury make it into their other vehicles too. They had to start somewhere and their flagship SUV makes sense, now they can move the same quality and features into other products. Definitely looking forward to that!
The only real competition is from Mercedes since for the price of this truck loaded you're stepping into entry level G-Wagon territory, but then I'm not sure if a G-Wagon has a third row, or has this nice of a ride.
The funny thing about SUV's (and trucks) in the US is that they depreciate comically slow compared to every other type of car. I bet some of these with low miles will still fetch over $40k in 8 years
6.2 liter V8 .... meanwhile in Europe, while shopping for a 15k € city car, expect to pay 2k € eco-tax (markup) because your 90 HP 1 liter 3 cylinder produces 17g of CO2 over the mandated limit of 95g per km.

In America, they call this a full sized SUV. Everywhere else, we call it a luxury apartment on wheels.
The Escalade might also be too tall to enter some of my country's multi-storey/underground carparks that have height limits of 1.8-1.9m (6'-6'3")

This is Cadillac's response to the Lincoln Navigator. Everyone can thank Lincoln for upping their game in this segment.
Lincoln is updated the Navigator in order to compete with the all-new Escalade, which means that the Escalade made Lincoln up their game.
@@justinsmith2598 Cadillac moved to IRS just because of the Lincoln. IRS rides better. Lincoln forced Cadillac to upgrade. The initial comment was accurate.
@@justinsmith2598 navigator came first in 1998
@@christopherstreet2214 Yeah, the luxury full size segment. But GM started the full size segment with the Chevrolet Suburban in 1935. 60 years later, Ford came out with their full size SUVs.
Competition is good for everyone.

Yeah haha! Or “move over rich person with who refuses to pay well over $1,000 per month for 84 months to show off in a depreciating asset equivalent to the worst investment no rich person would ever make.” FB ceo drives an older model Acura car and Warren Buffet drives a 10 plus year old Ford.

Reliability, and this thing probably does 3 mpg.
@@hedgehogthesonic3181 I mean, the whole luxury-category like Porsche, VAG/BMW/Mercedes is not overly reliable either. IMO, it's a great product for the segment. Seems super utilitarian. You can pack any gear into this and still haul people around. You can tow with it. It's just great if you can afford it.
@@CitarNosis317 There are less expensive vehicles that are capable of doing the same, like the Toyota Sienna hybrid for example, which is much more efficient, reliable and has more space. There is no point on wasting this amount of money on something like this Cadillac, but people with a lot of money don't know what to do with it nor how to spend it, so they waste it on things like these because of the ''luxury'', it's more like a social status to let others know that you have a lot of money, and most likely an empty skull.
@@hedgehogthesonic3181 a sienna can't tow like this. I think escalades (hell even Tahoes) are overpriced junk but besides seating capacity there isn't much comparison in utility
@@hedgehogthesonic3181 LOL YOU CAN’T COMPARE A SIENNA TO A ESCALADE LMAOO
If GM can bring this kinda of quality to Honda. I don't mind they working together
SUVs bring the bacon home while sedans are a sinking market with higher "hidden costs" due to the differing safety and emissions standards.
@@AndrewSanjanwala For now, yes. Like minivans before them and wagons before that SUVs will fall out of style. What will come next is anyone's guess.
The only real competition is from Mercedes since for the price of this truck loaded you're stepping into entry level G-Wagon territory, but then I'm not sure if a G-Wagon has a third row, or has this nice of a ride.
Front camera is the best feature on the new Escalade, now you can limo tint the windshield and just look through the camera at night

Sounds like a great candidate for a killdozer SUV
I just see extended warranty and depreciation written all over it. Makes sense
Like just about every other luxury brand out there, ever buy a Mercedes out of warranty?
The funny thing about SUV's (and trucks) in the US is that they depreciate comically slow compared to every other type of car. I bet some of these with low miles will still fetch over $40k in 8 years
@@psnmadracer27 good point
