    We've had ours for a few months and we're still very impressed. It's right there with the Germans in pretty much every way that matters for this kind of car but I like that they went for traditional luxury instead of trying to copy the performance/luxury that others are doing. Going for "sporty" makes no sense to me in a giant SUV. It has good power, but it's not trying to be something it's not.

      Working as a mechanic in Germany, I am disappointed with the German cars quality recently, we get cars with major engine damage anywhere starting 45,000 . They drive good, but I wouldn't depened on them at all.

    • @hamsterama
      @hamsterama 4 года назад +5

      @@st_us Yep, that's why will never buy a German car, unless things change. Too many major things break. Also, here in the US, usually a regular mechanic (one that works on American and Asian cars) won't work on BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Porsche, etc. If you don't want to go to the dealership, you have to go to an independent mechanic that specializes in German cars. Dealership or independent specialist, neither one is cheap. Yes, German cars look nice and drive nice. But they cost so much in repairs and maintenance.

      hamsterama First of all, most Americans aren’t very reliable either these days, especially Ford/Lincoln, the only truly reliable brand is Lexus, who frankly are making mediocre cars these days. Secondly, Germans cars need specialized mechanics because they are a lot more advanced engineering wise.

    • @GintaPPE1000
      @GintaPPE1000 4 года назад +10

      The Grand Touring has a lot of transmission refinement issues, and the extra weight means its straight-line power:weight is about the same while it handles worse due to the extra weight. He did the Aviator better justice by reviewing a petrol-only version.

    • @ZACH_95_
      @ZACH_95_ 4 года назад

      HellKitty 101 well of course it would be heavier than the f150, it’s a huge suv made of steal vs an aluminum f150. If the f150 wasn’t aluminum body it would weigh the same.

    • @hellkitty1014
      @hellkitty1014 4 года назад

      @@ZACH_95_ not necessarily. The Alumaduties aren't too much lighter than Chevy and Ram. And and the F150 is vastly larger than a Aviator, with a substantially beefier frame, heavier suspension components, etc. The 5800 pounds for a midsize SUV is inexcusable, particularly when the hybrid system doesn't produce significant performance or fuel cost savings.

    • @mybro727
      @mybro727 4 года назад

      Mark Miller Third rows definitely need to be comfortable for adults. If all you haul around are a bunch of small kids then a minivan might be a smarter choice for you. If you’re an executive with other adult executive friends or an older person that want a sporty and luxurious ride you’re going to opt for a SUV. These kinda folks will see more adults climbing into their third-row than small children. Also, kids grow up. So if you have kids that aren’t small anymore (teenagers) then you definitely want an SUV with an adult friendly third-row for them to be comfortable. Many kids in America, typically high schoolers, are actually larger than their parents who ride in the front seat. Manufacturers are expected to consider all households and scenarios if they want to be a top contender and that’s where Ford/Lincoln kinda dropped the ball in that crucial category. It’s marketed as a smaller Navigator but the third-row space comparison is nearly night and day.

    Good vehicle to be sure. Made it to our final two choices. In the end after driving the Aviator and X7 back 2 back 3 times we went with the X7. Both dealers offered us $20K off MSRP so $63K before TTT. They both have TT V6’s, both get surprisingly good gas mileage while delivering 5.4 second 0-60. In the end the X7 just feels better put together, is vault quiet and handling is way more composed.

    I'm still trying to figure out why you sounded like you were masking half sarcastic hatred for the entire interior overview. That said, I'm surprised and impressed. Really cool they were able to iron out so many of the bugs with the Explorer. This bodes well for the future of this platform at least. Big hopes for the Bronco too then. I figured with some time to smooth out the platform it would be much better.

    The sweet spot with this vehicle is the reserve model with good equipment. The black label gets so expensive, you could buy a BMW X7 for about the same price.

    I have one. Had it since Feb ‘20, unfortunately because of the wuhan flu I only have 4500 miles on it. It is.... Black Label, Grand Touring, pristine white, flight theme, luggage tan interior, every available option including rear seat entertainment package, yes it went into 6 figures. This is one AMAZING ride. It is also a neck snapping rocket. I drive in excite mode almost exclusively. The computer tells me I get 24.7 mpg with almost NO freeway driving. I’m a happy camper.

    Don’t underestimate the influence that comes from the people who care about the electrification of vehicles. The Avaitor PHEV is appealing not just because of its luxury but because of its fuel efficiency. No other sized SUV with as luxurious an interior can come close to the efficiency of the Aviator PHEV.

      @@funplaymix7710 Great question. I would not re-buy. It was in the shop A LOT and the local ford dealer that services it (largest on the east coast) is HORRIBLE. Escalations to Lincoln did not help. We had it in the shop at least 4 times for the camera problems, they finally have a recall that SHOULD address it but I no longer trust anything they say. There are some bugs that can never be addressed or re-produced. A very annoying one is it will lose seat programing to the key, and randomly WHILE DRIVING move your seat. Usually on reverse out of the garage. In addition if you plug in a phone before the screen is fully booted it will black screen, the list goes on and on. I would skip it.

The rear arms both cracked one arm fully split they other partially. Were they connected to flange also were cracked. Air suspension may also have issues. In your opinion how critical is damage to these parts. Replacement part are both arms and subframe. I’m being told that subframe damage will show up on history report as a safety issue and will reduce value of car. Can you give me your thoughts.
