Ah gotta love a trumpet! I can't remember if you've ridden any of the 1200cc current Bonnie's?? .....you'll love the current Thruxton if you likes that one, and the Speed Twin....well, lovely bit of kit.... Great vid as ever, lovin' your work and always good to see the Florida sunshine when it's cold and grey here in Blighty. All the best for Christmas sir! - TMF
Wow Mr. Surgeon you just reviewed a bike I own and love! Mine's a 2006 model which is black with a checkered stripe, and it is beautiful too. Glad to see that you had a good time on one of these sweethearts! Bob
Got me A Triumph Thruxton 900! So stoked and love riding this thing man. Have those same B.C exhausts myself one black. Dude I’m just in love. This video helped me steer that way. Thanks to the shade.
Ruddy Hell, Josh has joined the ton-up chaps, he's positively booting it down the motorway. Don't forget to nip into a greasy spoon for a mug of Rosy Lea, and a full English with extra bangers, black pudding and fried bread. Mmmmm, black pudding! 😉
I love those old Triumph bikes. I love that they are simple, engines, gearbox and wheels. Without any of the fancy electronic, intrusive, price increasing, shit. I am now saving money to buy a used Thunderbird 1600/1700.
That's a clean looking cafe racer. I'd totally rock that any day. My only gripe is the hipster epidemic that would think that I'm a brooklyn poser like them. LOL
@@shadetreesurgeon you know what it is man, I have some respect for the old schoolers or even modern cafe guy that's deep into it, and you can talk bikes with those guys, but man then there's those hipstered out dudes that bought the look, and pretty much do short urban rides to make sure you know they look cool, then you go "Hey man nice bike, you ever take it up to (enter popular local riding canyon here) ?" And you get "huh? No..." Then I'm just like okay we're done here.
"Old Guy"? Hell at 75 you can finally buy anything you want...like a new 1,200 Thruxton R. Check out the Triumph Ratnet Forum. There's a guy (in his 70s BTW) from Boise with a 1,200 Thruxton R with videos showing him at the drag strip doing 12 second quarters and at Bonniville Salt Flats last summer doing 140!.
I have a 2014 Thruxton. I've road tripped it haha. I have a set of throwovers and a tank bag and you can do limited touring with them. The secret is that they have a long seat, and depending on where you sit on the seat you can move yourself around a lot to get comfortable on them. And when mine needs any sort of bottom end work the 1197 stroker kit is coming :)
Factory "Cafe Racer". I usually associate Cafe Racers like Bobbers and Choppers are built at home or custom shops. Thrux's are nice and I put it in as Bonnie Variant. The old Speedmaster is the most radical of the Bonnie line. Bonnies are light and fast bikes for sure. Nice bike.
I'm the guy who WANTED to buy the "last bike", that beautiful triple! I called and was surprised to learn they still had it. Unfortunately for me, they were referring to the Thruxton. I hadn't seen the Thruxton video yet. It was slightly out of my price range nor am I looking for a cafe racer. I don't seem to catch these videos in a timely manner. I'd like to relive my youth on a 68 Bonneville! Anyhow, Shadetree, I've seen more than a few of your vids, I like your attention to Trumpets. I do wish you didn't bad-mouth Harley as much as you do, I plan on buying one. You keep making vids, I'll keep watchin'... you're weird. I like that! Thanks!
Bike prices around the world in some places are just stupid. I live in Canada too and some people are insane for what they want for bikes. It was probably still a deal even after shipping/exchange/duty depending on where the dude was....Cali/Florida/Texas, for obvious reasons, have some of the best deals.
“Faster than the FXR”? Hell, a bus is faster than the FXR!! I never cared to much for the cafe racer style either. I rode a friend’s ‘78 Bonneville for about 6 weeks back in ‘80 and loved it. He wouldn’t sell it so I ended up buying a Sportster. Been a love affair with Harley ever since but your love of Triumph has steered me back to the brand. I’m really diggin on the Tiger 900! I rode the bobber black last summer and loved it but I looked kinda, well, “Old Fat Bald Guy” on a little bike. Sorta like 🎵Fat Man in a Little Coat🎵!! Yeah, I’m weird!!!
I knew if you got to ride one you would have a blast even though you're not really a fan of them..I'm not exactly a fan of them either but every time I've ridden one I absolutely loved the ride..a few of my friends are really into them so I get to ride them once in awhile and I tell ya the more I ride them the more I actually want one of my own..not sure if I could ever actually do it or not though..
I like that in Josh's chopper-dreaming mind a thruxton counts as a cafe. If we're ever in the same place at the same time again man, you're welcome to take my cb750 for a ride, granted I know sketchy bikes don't scare you too much
As a larger man, I have to say I have never been a fan of them racers...not because they aren't cool, but more of the looking like a bear on a bike in the circus. Super sick and cool of you to try it out man. Father shadetree 2020
Nothing wrong with Cafe Racers. Especially if they are descent like this Thruxton. Cafe Racers pretty much popular these days in Austria too. Many people bringing out their old and forgotten rides again,... converting them into sthg nice. We like that. Yeah, a 1200 ccm in that one would be awesome!!!!
Had a red 2012 Thruxton. Shockingly comfy, even for rides like up to Gainesville from Tampa on 75 -- it'd do 80 all day, and the wind takes the weight off your wrists. My advanced age these days requires an upright position and a big windscreen, however (Africa Twin), so the Thruxton's long gone.
Nothing bad with a cafe racer. The roadsters are definitely a sweet looking bike. Triumphs are beautiful bikes. Same reasons I like H-D I like triumphs, clean, simple, and ready to use.
Fuck me that sounds good! I'm going to pay off my sporty then slap a 140hp 1275 kit in it. That's the plan right now anyway. But the way I have it built is cafe racer inspired. Keep up the great work Shadetree!
Cool channel man. Been watching for about a month now since I bought my first HARLEY. I live in the twisties near Big Bear Lake, CA. We have some of the most incredible motorcycle riding in the world in Southern California in terms of just how much fun it is if you’re ever back out here hit me up I have a 2020 Harley Davidson fat boy with the screaming eagle stage 4 and S & S 2 into 1 exhaust system with tuners and legend suspension. Dude. Thing is sick. I’m a new rider I’ve only been riding for 2 1/2 years so I don’t deserve a bike like this but I’ll tell you what the cannabis industry is doing really good for me in Southern California. Hahaahha
Love that bike, and as you say, sounds awesome! I'm from Canada... but I'm going to resist the urge to have her shipped to me ;-) I enjoy your channel; good stuff.
I'm not a fan of cafe racers, either. But I agree, it's easy to fall in love with any bike when ridden. Besides, it's a Trumpet, how could anyone not love a Trumpet?
Hell yeah! Should've got a clip of you on it, not just helmet cam. I was cracking up at the rear sets part. P.S i love your hatred towards the cafe racer and when you talk shit about em.. It has inspired me to do my own coffee racer build
Pretty cool man! I've been meaning to ask, what's your opinion on the newer Speedmasters? You seemed kinda ticked off when the Bobber seemed to be its successor. Personally I like the fact that it looks more like a Bonnie than another Harley clone, but all the chrome and forwards might tick some folks off.
Point 1 There are Hinkley Triumphs and then there are Meriden Triumphs. All Hinkley's are new to me ( coz I'm old) and all the Meriden's are old. Point 2 I detested cafe racers when I started building / riding bikes.............. Now I love em and even build my own slimline featherbed frames. Who'd of thought!!!!!!
Just get it Dude! The new Triumphs are awsome and the Thruxtons are best of all. Of course, you could start a go-fund-me and get a brand new water-cooled 1,200 Thruxton! You could count on me for ten-bucks just for the entertainment value of watching your video on a 140 MPH bike.
I love coming to this page after watching srkcycles, you apologize to the cops about speeding and the other fella won't speed at all 😂 my kinda channel.
I'd take a bobber over a cafe racer all day, nice bike though. Got a lot of vids to catch up on, things have changed over here and been a bit busy. Hope your well dude.
Is a Kawasaki Z900 RS a “cafe racer”? I love how that bike looks, but I don’t want to sign up for any movements :-). I’ve outgrown movements for the most part. Haha
Have your buddies at the Ride Factory lend you one of the new Thruxton 1,200s! There's a great video of a guy from Boise doing a 12 second 1/4 on his stock Truxton 1,200R...Oh, and the same guy doing 140 at Bonneville Salt Flats last summer!
Check out hipster Shadetree, lol. Needed to ride it through an abandoned factory with skinny jeans. Then stop at music shop to buy vinyl. It’s all good.. Two wheels!!

I LOVE the Thruxtons but isn't there a size limit to ride them? Like anything much over 5.10" and 170 lbs and you start to look like an ogre on the things. am I wrong? I'm 5'11"and can be anywhere from 200-260 lol
guess i didn't really have a proper picture in my head of what a cafe racer should look like; but damn, it actually looks nice. hard to tell from your video; but i doubt i'd like the handlebars.

the thruxton is gorgeous especially in British racing green.

Right? It’s not so much the bikes that really bother as the scene does sometimes
Get the bike...but don't go full cosplay and get a man bun
The mustache sticker on the headlight wouldn't help any....

Glad to see you on a900 triumph, I know you like these bikes even it's a "café racer". French triumph 2005 speedmaster rider. Cheers.
I've rode (and still have) the old triumphs and the new ones...they are all fun.

I have a 13 thrux and it rides like a dream. Do you have the link to the 1200cc upgrade? Correctly, you identified the pipes as british customs.

Seven minutes in and I already WANT IT ! ! ! now if the Michigan Lottery will do it's part....
Wow, looks brand new and modern.

Even though I ride a Harley Softtail Slim, I like Triumph motorcycles a lot. I would definitely consider buying one.
You should definitely check out a Thruxton R or the Speed Twin! I've heard they can run 12's right off the showroom floor
i just got this bike from a buddy of mine, i am new ryder and i am a little shook by it! LOL!!! but damn it looks good!
That'll buff right out. Famous used car salesman phrasing.
Shadetree: I've got to make better decisions.1 second later: Well actually, this wouldn't be a bad decision.
Today is a great day!

The fake carburetors is just the bomb I love that they did that!
I really dig cafe bikes. This one was nicely done!

I have owned Triumph bikes since the mid 70s and I guess I will die with my 2 650s in my collection
Wow, stunning bike!
You are front page news and you will still be the epitome of dad jeans if you bought and rode the Thruxton.
And then you could do that 1200 project in the new shop you been talking about building, if you had all the money 🤛
My first bike was 2014 thruxton Ace edition
I love coming to this page after watching srkcycles, you apologize to the cops about speeding and the other fella won't speed at all 😂 my kinda channel.

will you do a ride review of the new triumph speed twin

looks like you are flying on a broom whaha I felt the same when I test rode the street triple rs
Damn dude might have to stop watching your channel. That Triumph looked sweet as f .... this vid view nearly cost me five and a half large. 👍🏼 😎
Check out hipster Shadetree, lol. Needed to ride it through an abandoned factory with skinny jeans. Then stop at music shop to buy vinyl. It’s all good.. Two wheels!!
Next video ''I bought a cafe racer'' haha so yeah even if I haven't heard about this Thruxton before,it seems like a pretty damn cool bike, nice vid
man that ol" fxr just drips hopelessness compared to that racer.......
sweet they do that man.
shadetree surgeon ALL CAFE RACERS MUST BE DESTROYED!!! ruclips.net/video/0F4CYVyigUY/видео.html&t=123
Still my most favorite shadetree surgeon vid to date!
you're really awesome bro
Well shit, thanks man :)
If That Triumph Thunderbird was still available when I went down for FLMM I probably would have bought it.
dang, you beat me here
Cool video my man
Looks good, sounds good. Not for me though. (I'm too old, fluffy and lack sufficient flannel) It will definitely make somebody happy.
I want it!
If you want a little more relaxed position check out the newish speed twin. Thruxton R power in sheeps clothing.
Looks alright does that! :-)
Mr. Surgeon, I would love your thoughts on the Moto Guzzi MGX-21. It’s weird and I think I’m in love.
As far as factory Cafe Racers are concerned, the Thruxton absolutely blows the Ducati Scrambler Cafe out of the water on so many levels
no naked wheelie contest on someone else's naked cafe racer? now THATS a headline for comedy haha
Whelp.. @Shadetree surgeon it happened.... i made a shade tree reference at work for no other reason than it came out without thought:
coworker: you need to sign these copies cause we cant double sided scan
me: ah killin double the trees to day HEEELLLLLL YYYEEEEAAAAAA
coworker: *wtf look* oooooook
me: uh um... there you go.... XD
Yeah, those things really are beauties... $5500 is a good price for that bike with the mods. Definitely will sell & make somebody very happy.
Now try a 2016 onwards Thruxton R. If you liked this then you’ll ‘love’ the ‘R’.
Nice bike but I bought a 16' Thruxton 900 in July with 2700 miles on it for $5500. 25k miles is a lot for that price.
I LOVE the Thruxtons but isn't there a size limit to ride them? Like anything much over 5.10" and 170 lbs and you start to look like an ogre on the things. am I wrong? I'm 5'11"and can be anywhere from 200-260 lol
11/2022
Still waiting on Josh to get a Triumph 900 (or maybe 1200??)
I can't wait for the .... well I bought it..... video lol
guess i didn't really have a proper picture in my head of what a cafe racer should look like; but damn, it actually looks nice. hard to tell from your video; but i doubt i'd like the handlebars.
