I've said it before and I'll say it again, I came for the Triumphs, got hooked with the XS650 build and now I'm impatiently waiting for the Triumph chopper build 1 day but until that happens I'm here for the shenanigans..
Trying to understand the thinking of corporate minds is akin to trying to read the thoughts of a madman. Logic and reason play no apparent role. What we might see as a no-brainer PR opportunity, they see as an unnecessary expenditure. And it's sure as hell not just Triumph... look at Harley-Davidson's celebrity-centric promotions, which pissed off thousands of their customers. Corporate thinking reflects the mindset of wealthy executives who comprise their Boards of Directors, advised primarily by overpaid bean-counters, almost NONE of whom collectively know their asses from a hole in the ground about bikes, biking, or bikers!
I had a Triumph 650 Bonneville back in the 70s... It was a kick start only. Very finicky, some days i loved it, some days i hated it. You just rolled the dice on whether it would start or not..lol. Many mornings I had to push start it down my driveway. But, i wish i still had it.
My old Soviet Union KMZ Dnepr military sidecar motorcycle uses an engine designed in the 1930's. You must kick the engine over 3 times before turning on the ignition to kick start the engine. That pump's oil up into the engine so it starts lubricating everything before the engine starts running. It is a kick start only making it a true Iron Horse that must be kicked to get it going.
I'm sitting here chuckling, thinking about @shadetreesurgeon standing at attention telling a DI ---- "Sir, time is just a state of mind baby!" ------ priceless
When I woke up Saturday morning at the campout my first thought was "man, a piss and a cup of coffee sure would hit the spot". No sooner than that thought went through my mind I heard Dave calling out that the bathroom was open and fresh coffee was ready...."Hell yeah!" Great people, great cause and a great time!
I own a 71 T110 Tiger 650 CC. Its a chopper. I got rid of all the Lucas crap years ago. No amal carb either. Im using a Mikuni. Starts right up every time.
Pulled into the Sheetz for gas in Mon City. Guy next to me was filling a late 80s Wing. I said - Hey that looks like a Shadetree Special! He laughed and said yea I follow him on RUclips as well!
I own a Storm. There's not an HD come out of the factory that can keep up with it. The LT you're riding comes in at 92 HP /111 ft lb torque. The Storm is around 6 more HP and 10 more torque. The T-bird responds well to mods. Also , there's an outfit in the UK that makes a supercharger for it. That'll push you to around 150 hp
Triumph America might not care. But the people that have benefited from the raffle and the people that care do appreciate and won't forget what he has done. 👍
You didn't find the Thunderbird fast because you treated it like a Harley - you have to rev it! Makes most of it's power up top - particularly the 1700 which has hotter cams than the 1600.
Great video and content as always. Hope your week is good. Looking forward to Wednesday’s video. You are getting me through trucking school. Trust me you and the rest of the brap star family are a big help
What's cool is I bought tickets for road king Kong. I never paid attention to the bars on it. I picked up a fat Bob off copart recently. I ordered 6" pull backs and la chopper kage fighters. I got the same bars but in chrome. Waiting for tool to de-pin the electrical connectors now. They are some sick bars for sure.
As a Brit and Triumph owner I'm always interested in how others see Triumph and I wonder how many know that the 'old' Triumphs of the the last decade have nothing to do with the 'new' Triumphs in anything but name. The old Meriden built Triumphs ended in 1983 and at that time the company was known as Triumph Engineering. John Bloor bought the name and manufacturing rights from the receivers and started up the Hinckley Triumphs as Triumph Motorcycles Ltd. They were not even allowed to keep the original logo as it was and had to amend the 'H' by looping the underline to the front of the H instead of the back of it as the original logo has it. To me, the Triumph heritage that people refer to does not belong with these new Triumphs but the originals that enthusiasts keep going. These new Triumphs have a heritage of less than 40 years. Triumph motorcycles here in the UK are fast getting a reputation for poor customer service and customer support. For me looking into replacing my own bike last year I found dealers interested in nothing more than selling a new bike and making money. I would note though that Triumph Motorcycles is known for supporting various UK charities and rides and has been known to donate bikes for raffles for charity. Keep doing what you do. Your vids always leave me with a smile.
I just bought 5 tickets! A really great thing your're doing with them. You should do a short video on just the Raffle, so people could share it everywhere! I've shared the link, and will share it on every sight I'm on.
The 1700 Thunderbirds are at least as fast as the fastest stock Harley cruisers. You just got off a highly tuned bike - of course the Thunderbird is going to feel tame.
That forgotten angels thing is just fucking beautiful as a person coming from a very broken home, being homeless at a young age,and of other shit😂😂 this really hit the heart big love ❤️ for you dude and the forgotten angels. Much respect from me, and I really hope this thing will grow big. and a lot of young people will benefit from it in the future. Really beautiful stuff you guys are doing 🤘🏻❤️🤘🏻
I like the most recent Thunderbird, but I prefer the 90’s-early 2000’s Thunderbirds and Adventurers. Now it’s just straight Bonnies in 9 configurations. The only triples are the sporty bikes. I’d jump all over a Triumph retro with a triple over these twins.
My daughter did foster care, and adopted two of her foster kids, one of which was a teenager. My parents did foster care, but never had a charge age out…
Had a great time at the last camp-out. Even though I wasn't able to stay for very long. It was pretty cool meeting you and some of the army. Will definitely be there in October
As a 2014 triumph speedmaster rider, it pisses me off that Triumph does not support their bikes after couple years, no after market accessories, and they stop making parts like dresser bars, sissy bars, etc ...I have had to remanufacture Harley accessories to fit my bike.
i was going to say that Triumph Meriden and modern Triumph Hinkley are not related other than buying the name copyright xo why presume a continuity of heritage and identity. But then Triumph Hinkley trade enough on the McQueen Triumph association and McQueen was happy to have his bike riding photos in the Easy Riders 'Riders Lives' pages which was next to the DAVID MANN centre spread; missed a trick there. Respect to the support you guys do to Forgotten Angels, the difference you will make is immeasurable.
I found this channel because of Triumph. I own a Bobber and the first video I watched on this channel was the one where Josh hated all over the bike I own. And now he's putting miles on the bike I'm going to win in the raffle. ha!
Richard is my kind of dude... Old BMW's are so cool. I've got a few Oilheads myself- a '95 GS and a y2k RT. Looking to add an Airhead to the mix some day.
i'm no wizard, however time is relative... so I'm not later you're just posting too early. great one again, i was looking at one of those triumph thunderbird's and they look so sweet
Shadetree Surgeon, You couldn’t go anywhere on Social Media without seeing the Chopper that Weems built. Hell I even shared the posts on my Social Media. Most Corporations aren’t interested in sharing anything on Social Media unless it benefits them in a major way. I worked for a major Company that was behind raising money for Breast and Prostrate Cancer. I said out loud someone in Corporate had a relative who was dealing with those Cancers. A little research showed I was right.
Josh, as always thank you for your work and the video. That sucks about Triumph America not wanting to participate in what you guys are doing with Forgotten Angels. Well, fuck it. When you do anything not everyone is going to get it and be onboard. That does not make it any less worthwhile or worthy of doing. I bought a ticket for the auction. I know is just $25 but that’s a lot for my broke, unemployed ass. Feels great to know that I was able to do more than Triumph America did with their unbelievably deep pockets.
I know 80% doesn't sound like much, but look up the Combined Federal Campaign website numbers. There are charities that only give 2 to 5 cents on the dollar to the charity. And the other 95% goes to operating costs. 20% as operating cost is low, because the advertising, event set up, and having it in multiple locations eats a lot of funds.
Thanks for letting us know about Flip Na checking out Cuban sandwiches. I'll check his channel for it. Everytime I get to Florida I gotta get a Cuban Sandwich.
Triumph UK give you the feeling there's only one guy, on his own answering the phone. Gearbox problems? well your the first, dials leaking water in? Never heard that before. Their aftersales is garbage. I still love my T120 Bonnie though. :) ride safe...
Just pointing it out Harley-Davidson is a company Bert from Bert's Harley-Davidson owns a franchise of Harley-Davidson and or essentially a dealership and he's the one that donated the motorcycle not Harley-Davidson Harley-Davidson could care less.
For corporate Triumph not to respond i'm not surprised they're a Corp. for the local business not to at least share the Weems raffle does seem ...not good , but their maybe some kind of a Corp policy against it . idk. the Thunderbird looks nice . too bad they don't have the aftermarket support Harley does with S&S and others. that is a cool fact about BMW . i never knew that. the food looked good. the place looked really nice too. RKK is currently over $118k . i won't be surprised if it breaks $200k before Oct. good vid
Mark Hawwa didn't start DGR, it was a bunch of guys in Perth after seeing a photo of Don Draper in a suit on a Triumph. Hawwa jumped on the bandwagon later.
I have a 2010 Thunderbird 1600. I love the bike but Triumph seems to want to pretend that the line never existed. Parts are a problem, the techs don't seem to know what to do with them and there are zero accessories available any more. Kind of a bummer, especially when I look at support that other manufactures provid for their old models.
Dude absolutely love the hat. Makes me remember a old shirt I used to wear on my Honda. Was the Hardly Bar n Sheild but said Honda Shadow Motorcycles. Lmbo. Gotta find that to wear on my Roadglide

The guy is a legend!
He is the most incredible engineering genius the motorcycle world has ever known.
I couldn’t remember who suggested him but I’ve been watching him all week. I want one of those little 100cc VTwins he built, looks like a ton of fun!
