I have two bottles of Glenrothes 1974 29 year old left . I drank one. I purchased them for $90 + tax each about 15 years ago. As I recall, it was stunning; but they are too valuable for me to drink now. I am not worth it. I also have a Glenrothes 1979 17 year old I purchased for about $60 about 20 years ago. Why is Glenfarclas 25 year old without a distillation date so darn cheap. I bought one 20 years ago for about $140, albeit in a wooden coffin and different shaped bottle than every other Glenfarclas I have ever seen. Has it increased in value at all?
@@WhiskyInThe6 I won't part with them until they are worth five figures. My research tells me the 29 y.o. Glenrothes is worth about $800 - $1000. I haven't researched the 17 year old. What the Glenfarclas is worth is anybody's guess. Without a vintage year, maybe no premium except for the wooden container. Or perhaps because Glenfarclas is now aged in seasoned rather than authentic sherry casks, that lends value to older bottles like it has with MacAllan.
My bottle has been open now for 3 weeks and has oxidized to a much better flavor profile and less alcohol burn. Actually I just rated it @ 3.75 on @t and those scores are much higher today as many other's had my same experience. Cheers!
Picked up the Glenrothes Makers Cut in an Amazon (UK) sale a few months ago for a pretty good discount after S4D did a review... pretty decent dram and well worth trying (I am pretty happy with it) Good value if you can pick it up for a reasonable price
Sorry I missed this Rob. I was watching my Packers shit the bed. Just got a chance to try the Makers cut and it's an absolute sherry bomb. 100% better than any Mac 12. Not very complex, but a sherry lover's type of dram for sure. Cheers
Rob, You are soo close to 7,000!! Celebrating before Halloween!!! I see this Glenrothes for $80 at the big boy store TW&M but a local owner store has it for $70. Maybe I will give it a go at $10 more than Macallan 12 Sherry. Cheers!!

Hearts is the middle of the distillation. It’s the sweetest of the distillate. Tails is the end portion. It’s more bitter and a touch rougher on the palate.

This Glenrothes WMC is rumored to be mostly 16yo even though not listed and it does taste like there is some older stock in there. It's priced/placed between the 12 & 18.
