    Cool shout out and even a link! Thanks my friend, very cool. Loved the nose and the finish too. I would agree the palate was not as complex as it could be, but I do enjoy spicy and savory whisky. I hope it opens up a little more and brings a few more layers to help you enjoy. Cheers!

      You're welcome, Jon, and thanks for watching! I'm only giving credit where credit is due. Your Glenfarclas 15 review did trigger my change in review order and got this bottle in front of the camera. Cheers!

    I just bought this today, lucky to have found it, I love it ❤. There was another bottle left and I will go back tomorrow to get it. It's that good. It cost here in the Dominican Republic 5,575 equivalent to 101 USD. Well worth it. I love Sherry cask finish, I also love a smoky dram, but Sherry finish is my true love. I think I like it more than the McAllan, after all the McAllan is just 43 ABV.

      Macallan has fallen from favor for me. They keep raising prices and producing expressions that seem to lack substance for what they charge. There's too many whisky choices available now and I prefer to explore something new that might be a better bang for my buck. Cheers!

    I saw this last weekend. I didn't grab it but it's on my list. Great review.

      Thanks, Mark. I just had a dram of this the other night. It's just different enough from my other expressions to keep me coming back. Cheers!

    I now have to find this. The Glenrothes I've seen are 40% ABV. a 48.8% ABV for Glenrothes sounds very interesting.

      @WhiskyRiffs  2 года назад

      I was very happy with the ABV, which made it easier to slip this bottle into my shopping bag. Cheers!

    A store near me has this on sale for $49.99. I may just need to stop in there this week and snatch one. I almost bought it when I first saw it, but decided to do my research first. Definitely sounds worth it for that price. Thanks for the review.

    • @WhiskyRiffs

      You're welcome, thanks for watching. I'd say that $50 is a good price and research is never a bad idea. As the price climbs past $100, my research increases. I'd love to hear your review, if you do head back to your local store and grab a Glenrothes. Cheers!

    • @jamescostigan3721

      I picked one up for the $50. Initial impression, it's very nice, I like the spiciness, it's a bit hot at nearly 49%. Well worth the $50, but I wouldn't pay the usual $80 for it. I like a sherry influence, but need to be in the right mood for a sherry bomb. This leans more to the bomb side for me. A very enjoyable sipper. I read in the 2024 Malt Whisky Yearbook that it is being discontinued, so it looks like this one will be my only one. If it had blown me away, I'd be going back to get at least one more at this price, but I'll save that money for some other regular favorites. Glad to have had a chance to experience this one and will enjoy it from time to time over probably the next year or so. Reminds me a bit of the Glenturret 12 2021 or the Edradour 12 Caledonia, though not as dark, rich or funky, which is not surprising given it is NAS vs 12 years. For me, these three are ideal for sipping in cool weather, preferably by the warmth of a fire. Cheers!@@WhiskyRiffs

      I'm a sucker for a Sherry Bomb Scotch, so my opinions will always be skewed. Thanks for the fantastic follow-up comment, James. Cheers!

    Hey Kevin... Great job as always! Question: If you had to pick one, this or the Aberlour Casg Annamh ? Slainte!

    • @WhiskyRiffs
      @WhiskyRiffs  2 года назад

      I think I'd still go for the Aberlour Casg Annamh, but I've spent more time with that one too. Cheers!

    How do you read the bottles to find the batch or bottle date?
    Just found a bunch of these at 40 usd.

    • @WhiskyRiffs
      @WhiskyRiffs  11 месяцев назад +1

      Not every bottle has a batch and bottling date. That's typically for small-run or cask-strength expressions. But if there is a batch, it should be displayed in an obvious on the bottle.

    I have an unopened Glenrothes 18 yr. on my whisky shelf that has been taunting me for 8 days 😁. Not going to give in yet, but I don’t think I’ll make it to 8 months.

      Hahaha… I have CairnCaps lids that I put on the glass so I can save it for later. Typically, I drink the same whisky during the video editing process. Cheers!

    how much whisky do you own if you can leave a nice bottle of Glenrothes on the shelf for 8months

    • @WhiskyRiffs
      @WhiskyRiffs  8 месяцев назад

      Over that time period, I owned between 130 and 200 bottles of whisky. Some bottles just got pushed to the back of the cabinet. What can I say? ;) Cheers!
