A customer sent this pair of Ralph Lauren shell cordovan loafers to our shop after another cobbler shop did a not so great job. He wanted us to resole them correctly, but he wanted to add some flair. After adding new welts, JR graffiti soles, and Triumph toe plates, we had completed the makeover. Time for another pair of shoes to restore!

Oh my, thanks for the reference to good stuff 👍
My shoes are famous! These are my shoes. Trenton & Heath did an unbelievable job. Better than when the shoes were new and incredible details. Thanks guys!!! The video is also a pretty cool bonus!
Thanks, Matt! Hope you enjoy them. Have a great weekend.
I would love a video explaining all the tools you use and the ages of the larger machinery you use. That’s the most fascinating part. I wonder who is able to repair and sharpen the cutters? Were they passed down? Etc.
Heath maintains all of the equipment. We bought most of the equipment when we started the business.
I would definitely watch it!!!
@@TrentonHeath a little history on the machines would be interesting to watch
Me too I was just about to post the same thing!
That would be great. Just a little information about the different things the machines do and maybe a little history on the branding or something. Maybe how the equipment is maintained. Great content
Such a huge difference when true craftsman like yourselves take care of and bring footwear back to life. Excellent job as always!
Thank you!
You Guys are so polite and respectful, I must say, the reality is that Cobblers who have the passion , knowledge and experience are VERY VERY hard to come by. In the main, they are those 5 minute people in the middle of a mall..... Keep up the GREAT WORK, ...!!!
I always find it very interesting as to what line of work people go in to when they realize how unsatisfying the corporate executive life really is.
I am intrigued by all the different tools that are used and would like to know more about them. Also, would like to learn about the different types and grades of leather. What makes a quality leather? What are the best color and cream products? How much does shoe repairs cost? You two are the best cobblers. Thanks for the entertaining shows.
You are so kind, thank you! I believe most of that information is on our website, or previous videos. www.potterandsons.com/
It’s true that a concept as simple as removing imperfections can easily go unappreciated by an untrained eye. These seemingly simple details usually take a lot of time, patience and effort, and if a customer wants that then it comes at a price. Usually the price of a skilled craftsman’s time comes as a shock to anyone that doesn’t know what they’re asking for. To anyone that asks “why didn’t you do this or that” I would say that it’s simply better to tell the customer what needs to be done, ask the customer what they want, explain the process in a way they’ll understand and do what’s within their budget. Amazing work as always to the team at T&H
Really love the outcome of this sole. Reminds me of business in the front party in the back with the green grafitti. Have a great weekend gentlemen. Thanks for todays video.
Haha…very true! Thanks for watching.
Wow! The beauty in this resole is in the details.
The new welt, the brass, the green accents--really sharp looking.
Great job, sirs, a perfect way to begin the weekend. See ya! 🤙👞
Thank you, Jon!
I am not sure what impresses me the most you're skill and craftsmanship or the 100 plus year old equipment that aids you in doing what you do.
When I saw your IG post about the blue suede Salvatore Ferragamo loafers and with Halloween approaching I thought OK. The guys might do a video dressed up as Elvis and Carl Perkins and do the repair with "Blue Suede Shoes" playing in the background. Alas, it didn't happen but what a video it would have made. Have a great weekend.
Thanks, you too! 😂
Personally, I do appreciate your guys' attention to detail!!! I've watched many of your vids (did I say many? ... I mean - many!!!). When it comes to shoes, no matter another person's thought on them and obviously the owner thinks they're worth putting more money into them, you guys really do the work it calls for. There is a difference in "business" and the way it's conducted -- and you guys have got it. The concept of "how it's done" --- Gentlemen, I do appreciate that 110% and then some... astonishingly impressive and greatly appreciated!!! Be Safe
Rod, thank you so much for your kind words! Have a fantastic weekend.
It speaks volumes of Trenton and Heath’s character to attempt to give other shoemakers the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the fixing their mistakes on resoles.
Back in the day, the Landis Model K stitcher was a beast that frequently broke down. Also, the Auto-Soler 8band 12 were quick ways to attach heels.
good to see you back healthy. great video. thank you.
Much better repair. I almost always hit the thumbs up button even before I finish watching the video, I know I will get the best from you two. Thanks.
Thank you very much, Darrell!
Stunning as always Sirs
I would really go and get my money back from that other shop. To me that looks unacceptable and I'm no shoe cobbler. Glad these guys were able to fix it up💯
Really liked this video. Thanks for showing us the different heel method. Appreciate it a lot!
I love the way you can see the leather grain in the stacked heels. Beautiful!
Thank you for sharing your work. Yes, the grafitti is a fun soul. I enjoyed watching you add the new welt & heel. Stay safe.
Thank you so much, Sharon!
Very nicely done! Loved that y'all included those little details with the brass tacks and Kelly Green stripe.
Thank you!
Thank you
I love the way you guys do what you have to do. Always on the correct and approbiere side of doing things for lasting longer and keep being worthy. Thank you for your videos, Regards from Germany
Thank you very much, Thorsten!
Just about to send you guys a pair of cheap shoes I bought and get the works done on them. Absolutely appreciate the mothods and care employed by both of you in making a worn out pair of shoes get new life.
I had these exact same shoes. My favorite shoes, ever. Nice work.
Awesome work as always! Love the green touches. Keep it up! 🤘🏻
Thank you!
Great job once again gentleman. Love the content and education, true craftsmen.
That's an awesome repair on a shoddy resole done elsewhere. Good job, guys!
Man, you guys always do AMAZING work!
Great job, i really like the green strip on the heal. A much better repair than the first.
I love the green soles!!!! Wonderful job! 👍😍
Excellent work. You guys are awesome and also second to none. When my Thursdays are ready for a bit of TLC I'm sending them to you guys. No one else will touch my boots, no way...
You’re too kind. Thank you very much!
Another great video, exceptional work gentlemen
Thanks!
Great video as always! Keep them coming. I made up my mind long ago that when my Carmina loafers need a new sole I'll be sending them to you two, just not quite to the point where it needs it yet
Thank you very much. We’re here for you!

Nice job on these guys. Good to known that RL shoes are worth looking at.
There needs to be a universal professional certification for a cobbler. That way you know you're going to someone who will do the job right the first time.
Top notch job as always guys.
Thank you!
They look fantastic guys!
Thank you!
Always good to see a new T&H video.
Thanks, Carl!
This is one of my favorite youtube channels. Great job guys
You’re very kind. Thank you!
Awesome work !!
Thanks!
Great Job Guys, thank you for your honest and great work on shoes.
Thank you so much, David!
Brilliant work gents! It'd be great if you could do a video at some point about shoes which are made as "contract shoes" by other brands for the major fashion houses.... Again, great work, especially the close-up shots
Thank you very much!
Another superb job.
Happy to see you're back ☺️
I missed the wooden rod in your videos!
😂 thank you!
Hey you guys did it. I love the JR grafitti. Great job guys.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Your videos are great , content like this make long chemotherapy sessions seem like half the time . I could never afford these kinds of shoes especially now but the videos are amazing thank you 🙏
Awesome work as usual guys, I expect nothing less.
Thank you!
Great job guys
Thank you!
Wow! Beautiful guys!
You guys do an awesome job.
Beautiful job, as always, guys. I’m absolutely horrible at working with my hands, so I’m always in awe of your talents! The shoes look beautiful. Enjoy your weekend.
Thank you, Anthony. Hope you have an awesome weekend, buddy!
@@TrentonHeath Thanks. With all of the leaves changing color this time of year in Minnesota, it’s gorgeous outside. Take care, my friends.
Love the green!!! So cool, great work guys
Thank you very much!
Thank you!
Beautiful craftsmanship from your part guys, live well amigos.👍
Mucho gracious!
Props for your honesty in doing what you would do for any other customer, i.e. not always putting in hot cork or ironing out the creases, rather than giving a video repair some extra services for free that may mislead viewers into thinking you do that all the time. As you say, time is of the essence / is money so if the customer didn’t request/pay for that, you don’t necessarily do it and that’s fine. The end result is stunning! Great balance of class and originality without being tacky. Keep up the great work and stick to your ethos!
Thank you. Yes, T&H is an entertainment only. Potter&Sons is separate and only works on welted shoes. Folks can see what what we offer on our website www.potterandsons.com/
Absolute Master Class, guys! Hat off for You.
Thank you so much, Al!
I have always loved Ralph Lauren, because he is one of the symbols of made in America. Great video, awesome shoes, not my style, but I love the JR Graffiti soles, heals and triumph plates!
Great vid on some beautiful loafers! I'd note that the RL shoes you're complimenting are only RL's top of the line bench made in England. Regrettably RL makes a ton of sub tier lines that are not C & J, or made in England, or all that special generally. But the RL bench made in England series have for years been excellent.
Thanks! Yeah, his brand(s) definitely make some cheaper shoes as well, but of most designers, he’s one of only a few that offers great shoes.
Thank you!
Yes indeed. Peel and Co. have made some in the past, iirc. The top line RL are good quality … which you definitely pay for.
Great job on the rework!!!! Beautiful job??
It's so bad for the industry that some people don't do resoles properly like this one.
Luckily there are people like you guys that does things properly and that's great.
Well done job.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
💚 They look good!
Awesome job. Agree with the a designer comments. I have owned several Churches which were very well made.
Thank you!
The finished product looks great and the creases just add character to a pair of well maintained shoes. The owner will be able to enjoy these for years to come.
Another HOME RUN. When I find the pair of 14 EE Penny Loafers in Black and Cordovan (both pairs, I will send them into you for reconditioning or restoration, unless you have these two pair lying around......LOL) its Trenton and Heath. Incredible attention to detail. I like my shop here in Toledo (Macino's) for regular work, but if it was for top notch reconditioning, Southern Polished.
Great Shoes Awesome craftsmanship and they look spectacular!!!!
Thank you so much!
I love the green! 😍
Love your work!
Thank you, Kathleen!
@@TrentonHeath It's always a pleasure!
Honestly, those are the most beautiful shoe soles I've seen. Great work.
So kind of you. Thanks!
Love this video 👍👍👍
Excellent resole and restoration. They look great. Also nice "T" shirts.
Thank you!
Great job again! Now if I could only find a repair shop like this where I live in Switzerland... Not easy.
Thank you very much! It’s getting harder to find these days.
You see the difference from before and after again a very good job 👍🏾
Thank you!
So satisfying to watch you guys. Totally interesting. Wish my hubby would wear nice shoes. Do you fix women's shoes also?
Time may be of the essence, but gentleman, hot cork warms our souls.......
With green stitching 👌
I never tire of watching true craftsmen working their trade!
Thank you so much!
hi i love your videos. they're truly amazing. can you do a review of a Sperry top sider Oxfords?
Incredible sole. Almost too pretty to walk on. Amazing work guys!!
Thank you for introducing me to the quality kind of things. 😎
My first decent shoes are a couple of pairs of Santoni loafers.....
Is it weird that I'm hoping to wear them out so that I can send them to Trenton and Heath 🤔😎
Nice job love your channel very interesting 👍
Thank you!
Hi guys...I've been watching and subscribed for awhile. They're always interesting if only from the stand point of satisfying a curiosity "itch" I never knew I had before. I was wondering, do y'all ever hear from other cobblers? If so, what kind of feedback do you usually get? In particular, have you ever heard from one whose work you've negatively critiqued and re-done?
Also, your pride and craftsmanship are top notch. You clearly brought the pride in a job well done with you to the trade. How long did it take to acquire mastery of the trade?
I just found your channel a few weeks back and have been binge watching! Love your work! I was scrubbing a pair of my crocs and was thinking, “How would Trenton & Heath do this?” When are the mens sandals going to be back in stock?
Thank you for watching our channel! We have redesigned our men’s sandals and brought them back to the USA! Should be out in the Spring.
AWESOME job always like when you add some color
Thank you!
Another great video!!!
Thank you!
Well done
Those SHOES will last for long time, you guy's do an excellent job
I have a pair of Church's penny loafers that I bought on line second hand (ebay). Lo and behold, the soles were cemented - a legacy of Prada buying Church's in the 1990s. The shoes had a false welt and at several points, the sole was coming away from the welt. I had them re-glues at my local cobbler but one day I'd like to have a proper sewn on welt and the sole stitched....probably cost a fair amount but maybe one day.
I like watching your videos as I really get a good idea about shoe construction.
Thanks
Tony
Church's still makes decent Goodyear shoes. Check out their custom grade line. Too expensive though
Great job as always. It is a shame that a cobbler would cut corners on such an expensive repair on expensive shoes regarding the welt. Replacing a welt is an arduous job but it should have been done during the original repair. I have never seen that heel technique before, always something to learn. How popular are the graffiti JR soles? I don't care for it at all. Keep up the good work.
Do you ever get shoes with a foul smell?. Love the videos! always well made and interesting, keep it up!
Thank you! Not really.
Another great job!! Is it true that the JR tannery is closing! I saw something that the US rep made an announcement?
They look great. I never understood why people worry about the creases because even if you get most of them out they just come back by the end of the first day of use.
Thank you
Have you ever worked on Bass loafers? If so, are they quality shoes? Love you vlogs.
That resole had to go What a ruff assed job that was Great graffiti JR never seen that before
Well done lads 👍👍
Thank you very much!
Those look like Alden loafers. Fabulous job on the resole.
Yup, I'm with you guys. I have no use for designer labels, particularly when it comes to shoes/boots. Love me a "cotton-pickin' cobbler". Always nice to see those old stitches go away. Makes for a much more tidy job. Nice work on those. Personally, not a fan of the graffiti soles, probably my age showing again. LOL Missed seeing you guys last week.
Thank you! As always, we really appreciate you watching.
G'day and greetings from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 great call on these, I was just wondering if you could make the entire shoe ie' the upper part and not just the soles? That would be terrific to see love the channel kind regards John
Oh I wish I had done my research, I took my late father's boots to be re soled and the cobbler did a terrible job, I was hoping to be able to wear them but with how they were done I don't trust the quality, he didn't replace the welt . It makes me sad just to think of it.
Great work as always. Such a frustration that some so called cobblers out there do sub standard jobs. It makes finding the right cobbler a challenge......... If I was in USA, my shoes would come your way!!
Yes, you’re right. Thank you!
Would enjoy an explanation why sheet cork is used over the spread cork. Time factor can't be that critical.
I laughed when you said that you replaces everything from the welt UP. I guess to a cobbler, shoes are always upside down. 😊
😂
