    I'd nominate "Too High to Die" by Meat Puppets. Released in 1994. Scored a modest hit with the song "Backwater." Also included a reworked version of their 1984 song "Lake of Fire" as a hidden track, a song that was famously covered by Nirvana during their MTV Unplugged appearance.

      Meat Puppets overall are a very underrated band!

    NOFX - The Decline (a f**king unbeatable masterpiece!!!)
    Opus III - Guru Mother (light years ahead of its time)
    88 Fingers Louie - Behind Bars (more punk greatness)
    Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (acclaimed but criminally unknown by the masses)
    + tons more

      I don't know why, but I thought The Decline came out in 2000 but it was released November of 1999. That's definitely a great pick!

    Ian - great shout out for Kula Shaker. They have released 3 albums since - all great. Fantastic live band too!

      Ya I have been a fan since K was released in 95 I think. To be honest I picked that one up because I liked the cover art but was pleasantly surprised to find I really liked the group. Rumor has it they are working on new material for release this year so hopefully more great music to come.

    If we are talking Rock albums from the 90s, here’s my list:
    Quicksand - Slip
    Refused - shape of punk to come
    Failure - fantastic planet
    Mogwai - Come on die young

    • @TheVinylDen
      @TheVinylDen  2 года назад

      Mogwai is a great pick, I had completely forgotten about that band!

    One of mine would definitely be Americana by The Offspring. Fantastic album from beginning to end and is often overlooked because of the success of SMASH

    Too many to list, but the first that comes to mind is Yank Crime by Drive Like Jehu. Huge influence on bands like At the Drive-in, who blew up playing a relatively similar style of post-hardcore a few years later.

      Interesting, I've never heard of them before. I'll have to check them out, and I see they released a new album last year also.

    Moist - Silver is a great album by a Canadian group that reminds me of Bush. Delerium - Kama is another one that is electronic and Sarah Mclachlin sung one of the tracts, but the other singers they got were also very good.

      I'm a big Bush fan (at least their first few albums), so I'll definitely have to check that out!

    The Living End were huge down here for a few years but the consenus is pretty much what you said. Classic second album syndrome. If you like them you might like Kisschasy from the 2000s too.

    I've always thought that Life 'n Perspectives of a Genuine Crossover from Urban Dance Squad is an underrated 90s album. Same with Betty from Helmet, Jam Room and Clutch (self titled) from Clutch, and 12 Golden Country Greats from Ween.

      I'm only familiar with the Helmet and Ween albums, I'll have to check out the other ones.

    Fastball has stayed consistent their whole recording career, through this year's Soundtrack EP. Tony is a super underrated songwriter

      All the Pain Money Can Buy is all I've ever listened to, I guess I need to go check out the rest of their discography. I had no idea they had so many albums.

      @@TheVinylDen I'd say go for either Keep Your Wig On or Step Into Light next.

    That Blue Traveler's album is amazing, can't believe it is not on vinyl!! I grabbed 'Traveler's Blues' the other day, but that's not their best one, but it's on vinyl at least

    • @TheVinylDen
      @TheVinylDen  2 года назад

      Yeah, unfortunately, Blues Traveler has been pretty slow reissuing their albums. Straight on Till Morning still needs a first press and Four desperately needs a repress.

    Nick, Maybe do a video on bands that got a new lead singer like Skid Row I think his name is Erik Gronwall he did a video of him singing 18 to Life it is pretty good in my opinion he is the first singer to even come close to Sebastian vocals range they have a new album coming out in Aug I believe it's called The Gang All Here I pre-ordered it this is the first time I ordered an album from Skid Row since Sebastian left. They do have a single out it's called The Gang All Here you should check it out.
