I’ve got to disagree with you on this one. I think Ok Computer is easily one of the best albums of the 90s.
I’ve tried listening to it several times over the last couple of years, but I always come back to the same conclusion that it’s a couple of really good songs, and then a lot of filler.
OK Computer deserves all the praise it receives. One of the truly great albums.
Radiohead fanboys will nail you to the cross with this take.
OkC is a fine and enjoyable long playing record listening experience.
Cracked Rear View was as good as anything in the 90’s.
There are some wild takes in this video. The shit about OK Computer and NIN, in particular... I just couldn't disagree more. I appreciate your honesty and not just jumping on the praise bandwagon if you don't like something... But to say NIN only had "one good album"? I'm... speechless.
When he said 'The Bends' and 'Pablo Honey' were better than 'OK Computer' I just burst out laughing. But really I should have turned it off.
An album that I find thoroughly overrated is Nevermind. I seriously don’t understand the “It changed the landscape of music”. It’s a good record. But, to me, it’s nothing to write home about. I guess good enough to leave a comment about.😆

I agree 💯 Nevermind is a very overrated album.
Im not sure where i fall, i cna see how Nevermind is overrated but i also see how it was groundbreaking. I think its the same thing with the beatles really, on the surface nothing really special but they just happened to be first in the mainstream and i think thats where Nevermind falls too. It could just as eaily been something else but it was just first. I love Nevermind but im sure my opinion is a little clouded by nostalgia as well. I definitely get why people think that though for sure.
@@iantrumbo6152 as someone who was listening to punk/alt rock or whatever you want to call it, prior to Nevermind, it didn’t seem that revolutionary at all. It was good. But, to me, not what it was made out to me. I personally think it was a perfect example of media (particularly MTV at the time) blowing things up.
At the end of the day, it's all down to personal taste, no one is right and no one is wrong, for example, I've got very few of what would be considered "The Top 100 of all time" purely because I'm not interested in most "mainstream" music, that's just me, nothing wrong with any of the albums, just not my taste. Great episode guys, good work.

Pablo Honey is way worse than Ok Computer. I can honestly say I never wanna hear the song Creep ever again in my lifetime.
I just don't get Ok Computer or Pinkerton. I have tried hard over the years to like them but except for a couple songs on Ok the albums just bore me. I never thought much of the Sheryl Crowe album, but listening to it recently I can see why it was highly rated. Not a bad song on the album.
Starts watching.....sees guy holding up a copy of OK Computer....hears him say, "It's not The Bends"...
Wonders aloud if he's ever heard a dumber musical take....
Disagree on two: OK Computer & Tuesday Night Music Club. Nope!! Both will be considered classics in the future. Good video, though!!
Glad you mentioned L7. I was seeing a lot of shows in LA in the late '80s/early '90s (Dinosaur Jr., Fugazi, Jane's Addiction, Bob Mould/Sugar, the Muffs and lots of Seattle bands come to mind) and saw L7 and Hole multiple times. I liked 'em both, but L7 made consistently better music (I remember Kurt Cobain wearing an L7 t-shirt on stage and in interviews.) Every Hole album may as well be by a different band, even though Courtney Love is a constant: "Pretty On the Inside" is a rough, raw punkish, almost like female Black Flag. "Live Through This" is a powerhouse grunge/pop record (obviously, the songs are more melodic and dynamic, nothing like "Pretty on the Inside," and heavily influenced by Nirvana and The Pixies). "Celebrity Skin" was a mainstream "alternative pop" record, closer to Smashing Pumpkins. So, yeah, they're all totally different, musically -- but if you don't like Courtney Love, you won't like any of 'em!
To me, Korn is like its namesake. It passes right through you, lumpy and indigestible.
Add me to the OK computer adoration, shifted the tone of much in their catalog. no album had a feeling of such isolation in the presence of modern technology in the 90s. I initially didn’t care for the album but over time grew heavily on me.

Totally agree on 'OK Computer'. Praised as revolutionary, game changer, etc. If you were listening to the cutting edge of indie, dance, electronic and shoegaze in the early 90s, there was NOTHING that remarkable about it in comparison. Major influences for them were Aphex Twin and Joy Division, if you were familiar with those artists, which most people weren't at the time, you'd know Radiohead weren't doing anything mind-blowing. (keep in mind, it's good, we're just talking 'overrated')
You are right, there wasn’t really anything revolutionary about what they were doing. It’s definitely a good album, but I think The Bends and Pablo Honey were even better albums.

First I found out you're a Michigan fan. Now, OK Computer is overrated? Marrone.
First off i dont think Nick is a michigan fan but you would have to ask him, I on the other hand am not really a sports fan at all if you have seen me donning any UofM stuff its because i work for them and there is wardrobe crossover. As far as Ok Computer i go back and forth because arguably Kid A is a better album but Nicks argument has some merrit in the realm of 90s albums. Just have to remember we all have our opinions right or wrong. Thanks for watching.
I wouldn't say OK Computer is overrated. Radiohead has been the best band for almost 30 years (since 1995 The Bends). I think most fans would pick OK Computer as their favorite, just like most would pick Dark Side of the Moon. But I prefer In Rainbows and Kid A as well as Animals and Wish You Were Here.
I think you’re mostly on target. I actually like almost everything by S Crow and would say her self titled is my favorite.
Overrated = a lot of people like it. I WISH people would refer to me as being overrated!
This should be albums we own that are overrated. Ian just slammed bands that he doesn't own. I'd rather see him talk about stuff he likes, but he agrees it's overrated.
I think this is the first video ive heard you talk about sublime , i always thought you would be fan tho because you like that punk/reggae from the 90s
40 Oz To Freedom overrated? WOW! It's easily Sublime's best album! It's more consistent than the self-titled one. It's SO diverse! Probably my favorite album EVER!
Pinkerton? WOW! Pinkerton is arguably Weezer's best album. Fans either have it or Blue #1. I have Pinkerton, but it's a razor thin margin either way.

I think Live Through This sounded more like Kurt’s writing. I think he definitely influenced the recording.
Pablo Honey one of Radiohead’s best albums? It’s mediocre 90’s rock, and they only came completely into their own on OK Computer.

I was agreeing with you up until y’all pulled up 40 Oz to Freedom. But I do agree that it isn’t as great as Sublime’s self-titled album.

Pearl Jam- any album
Smashing pumpkins - any album
Bush, Silver Chair, Springsteen, Mellencamp, Nirvana, Korn and almost anything 90s. Full of overrated albums.
A lot of great stuff from that decade as well. I prefer the metal of the 90s but really like a lot of albums by bands like Paw, Dig, Belly, Jane's addiction, Johnny Cash, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Primus, etc... Anyway, thanks for the vid. fair enough but for me Alices overrated album is Billion Dollar Babies, Tulls is Aqualung both from the 70s so they dont apply to this particular list and you would have to ask Nick about Blink because im not as familiar with their work to have a judgment either way. Also i dont feel it was a Radiohead bash i ahppen to like Radiohead and i think Ok Computer is a great album but i think nicks opinion is that its not the masterpiece some think it is kind of on the same lines i dont think Dark Side Of The Moon is all people make it out to be.

I rarely post on RUclips but I say this with full sincerity. Shut your youtube channel down. You have to be troll to put OK computer on any overrated albums.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion right or wrong. I dont see how having an unpopular opinion makes you a troll when it comes to subjective things. we enjoy doing videos for our channel and though we would hate to lose a viewer i say you dont have to watch, we are being as honest as possible on the music we like or dont like and hopefully that can lead to honest and fun conversation but it has to be fun. I can only speak for myself by saying i like Ok Computer and the passion people have for it can only solidify its place in the history of rock but to Nick its overrated which is fair given its an OPINION.
You are very wrong about Radiohead. In fact in many ways, one could argue it to be a greater album than DSOTM.
Korn is def mid, gimmicky vocals, bass dropped tuned to the point it's non excistent, guitar is noisy and lacks anything close to what one would call a "riff" and the track suits?!!? Sorry not metal

It has been a long time since i listened to it to be fair and i should remedy that but i dont think my opinion will change much. As far as saying it had industrial elements maybe i am wrong on that, there is a lot of over lap with all the different subgenres of rock to the point that it probably doest really matter much so i will just have to stand corrected on that one for arguments sake.

It’s typically listed as one of the best albums of the ‘90s, but I don’t even think it’s Radiohead’s best album from that decade.
OKC simply SUCKS. Week pop music! Has never been rock music.
