- I did a test recording of the new Kingdom Hearts Missing Link Cutscenes on the game's Ultra Quality setting to see how they turned out. I'm not the happiest with them, my tablet seemed to be displaying really nicely when I look at it, but the footage is much darker when I play it back. I also was unable to recapture the Prologue again, as it only currently plays once per account, but I expect one more cutscene to be released sometime in the next week, and I will hopefully find a better recording solution by then that includes the prologue and the currently unreleased Chapter 5 as well. Regardless of these shortcomings, I thought you all might like to see what the cutscenes of this really interesting game look like!

Tablets/phones often have a vibrant display setting turned on by default and on older ones you can't turn that off. So don't be surprised if stuff looks less vibrant on a better monitor/screen than it does on a tablet.
When comparing this recording to other recordings it doesn't look any different so it's most likely just display calibration and not any actual issues with the recording
yo the beta just ended. did they release chapter 5?

I guess that'll come into play in KH4 with connecting Quadratum to the "real" universe.

Honestly, my phone handles it shocking well. Sure, it's on medium graphics settings, but it still looks fantastic and my battery lasted about as long as some 2D games without getting as hot (Admittedly those games were probably just poorly programmed).

The naming scheme of the borque society worries me.
Remus is named after the twin brother of Romulus who founded Rome after beating Remus in a contest.
Nept is named after Neptune who lost to Athena in a contest to see who would be the patron god of Athens.
Freya was a member of the Vanir who was forced to marry Odin leader of the Aesir after they lost a war against them.
I think it might be intended not necessarily to convey their destinies, but rather their starting place. They seem like outcasts on the bottom rung of this scala hierarchy, and it’s up to us to help them rise up to their potential.

Oh maaaan I haven't even memorized all those characters from the last update of Dark Road and we have some new characters in ML this is gonna be so hard.
At least everyone in Dark Road died so you only will most probably only have to remember the ML guys

I can’t wait to play this game, it’s been such a long time since we’ve seen anything KH related actually come to fruition! Watched the opening scene but I think I’ll wait until the game is released to explore the rest of the story! Thanks for sharing, Damo!

I really hope there is English voice acting in the public release of the game. Square hasn't had a great track record of including it, when it comes to their mobile games. It would be so weird to have a Kingdom Hearts game that doesn't include English voice acting.
I mean, if you watch anime, then watching it in sub should be a breeze

Quality was acceptable for me, I'm just glad I get to ingest some new Kingdom Hearts content. These cutscenes were intriguing and enjoyable to watch.🤞 Fingers crossed they don't empty their bowels with this game.

Also - this version of Scala, seems oddly similar to Traverse Town... in how it's functioning as a place for lost things and people + heartless.

I hope that this isn't too random or silly, but seeing as how someone did mention Twisted Wonderland in the comments, I guess I want to mention this before I finish the video.
This is my personal opinion/preference and mine alone.
I am used to blank slate/self insert protagonists, so I am honestly okay with them for the games that have them.
If there is one thing I like about the Kingdom Hearts Mobile games in relation to Twisted Wonderland would definitely be the avatar/avatar customization. In Twisted Wonderland, the protagonist is essentially a camera, and I guess I just wish there was some character representing the protagonist (and no, not just Grim) on screen like there was for Union Cross and now, Missing Link. But that's just me. I don't know if it just has to do with the format of the game?
I know it kind of stinks that the protagonists of Missing Link aren't given voices-since I saw someone mention that that should've been an option-but I am just grateful they kept an avatar for the protagonist at least, voice or no voice. Though I fail to see why they would have removed an avatar representing the protagonist in the first place, if I am being honest.
Edit/Update, just in case: I do know that there are other mobile games that feature first person self insert protagonists, but I have noticed with those, that there are ways they are represented/shown in game, unlike with Twisted Wonderland. It is kind of a shame, honestly.

I'm surprised there's no English dub. Since it's Disney. I think Twisted Wonderland remained in full Japanese as well, but was heavily censored with dialogue changed entirely. Hoping that the translation here is at least as close to 1:1 as possible since it's got cutscenes instead of just slideshows
I remember it being said there is gonna be an English version, so I guess they're gonna wait a bit on it, for some reason.
The english for twisted wonderland is wild. I still don't understand why they have to change some of the unique magic's name. And translation is off from the actual stuff the characters say.

So correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought that in order to gain a keyblade, you had to either have it bequeathed (I.E kairi/ Riku/ ephemer) or had to have a strong enough heart to manifest one (I.E sora/ xehanort) but here it seems like people can just hand out keyblades for free? And they rust? Is this a retcon or am I missing something?
So in this world keyblades are like basic equipment anyone can just walk around pick up, make and give to others?

correct! at the end of dark road, the blue robed figure tells xehanort about their "first" and "second" lives, as the Player in khx/ux and the Player in dark road respectively

I really wish this wasn’t a mobile game cause it actually looks really good in terms of story but it being a mobile game guarantees bad gameplay, especially since it’s gatcha. Guess I’ll just have to binge the cutscenes on youtube.

I gotta be honest......these cutscenes with the "silent protagonist" trop are always irritating to sit through. The point of the Kingdom Hearts series is not to "see yourself reflected in a character".......we are watching characters that some of us have literally grown up with development along with a fantasy story
But just like union x it represents everyone who plays the game so theres not one main character

I’m angry as HELL for them to once again only select UK and AUSTRALIA, and I said I wasn’t going to be watching some RUclipsr footage (no shade to you, I love you dude, you’ve already done so much for us KH’ers, just look at all your previous videos) so I WILL NEVER get the opportunity to have my own experience as a beta tester until say a DEEP DIVE into 2024 or HADES FORBID 2025 Global version finally hits when it’s raining cats and dogs or freezing cold outside. I was VERY excited from the very first moment and screaming in agony every single time a CBT was revealed for only those two countries. I said I wasn’t going to watch any footage, but my Kingdom Hearts Missing Link Heart is weak, so I’ll watch yours. Another part of me is like ‘why watch? The element of surprise will be 0 because I will already know about a few cutscenes. So I’m conflicted. Keep up the awesome work Damian

Okay, so Nomura wants you to voice the character yourself, and thats why they dont speak at all. Clever, but stupid. I love Hogwarts Legacy's approach, where your custom made character has full voice acting. For some reason, immersion is not broken at all. They could do the same thing for this game.
This doesnt feel like KH at all to me. A lil Interesting but not kh. Hopefully it connects better further on idk.
