In my 27 years of life, no matter how bad or crazy the world gets, this series and the community around it have always provided me with a feeling of comfort. I genuinely don't know what my life would look like without the influence of this wonderful franchise.
I agree, I’m 31 and have played these games for what feels like my entire life.. the first game I beat side by side with my closest friend in one week, and ever since then any time I’m at a rough patch I fire up Kingdom Hearts and it brings me back. I got sober as an adult when KH3 came out and I’ve always said that I couldn’t have done it without Kingdom Hearts. It’s been such a huge part of my life..
Other KH facts you need to know! - In KH1, Aya Brea from Square's "Parasite Eve" was supposed to be part of Leon's team but she was replaced by Aerith at the request of someone from the original FFVII team. - Tifa was supposed to be a secret boss in KH1 in a cup of her own like Sephiroth but she was cut either for time constraints or because they probably wanted her to have an actual role in the story like she would eventually have in KH2. - A world based on Atlantis: The Lost Empire was almost added to KH1, which Nomura said it would've been a good way to promote the movie, but it was scrapped because the world would've had a lot of vehicle sections that were already filled by the Gummi Ship and he couldn't find a way to connect its story to the main game's. - The KH manga features quite a bit of suggestive content not seen in the games, like Larxene reading a book by Marquis de Sade, a writer known for his incredibly graphic and depraved sexual stories and is where the word "sadism" comes from, Sora finding out Mulan's a woman by accidentally seeing her breasts when she was bathing and Sora being seduced by a prostitute when he arrives at Traverse Town. - In the pilot for the canceled Kingdom Hearts animated series by Seth Kearsley, Sora is NOT voiced by Haley Joel Osment but rather by Bobby Edner who would later be known for voicing Vaan in FFXII. - Also in said pilot, Frank Welker reprised his role as the Cave of Wonders whereas in the actual games the Cave never speaks like it does in the movie. - Kathryn Beaumont is not the only VA in the series who worked with Walt Disney, as Piglet in KH1 was voiced by John Fiedler, his original VA from the old Winnie-the-Pooh shorts and movies. - For the longest time it was believed that Geoffrey Rush reprised his role as Barbossa in the Australian version of KH2 but this was proven to be false. - Despite being bosses, neither Ursula or Julius have journal entries in Dream Drops Distance despite every other character and enemy having one. Weirdly, Chernabog's ghosts have their own entries but only in the Japanese version of the original 3DS release of the game. - If you closely at the posters for the Classic Kingdom minigames in Twilight Town, you'll see that apparently the Mickey Mouse cartoons were produced in-universe by Ludwig Von Drake, a long-time recurring Disney character. - The role of Setzer in KH2 was originally supposed to be filled by Rufus Shinra but Nomura felt there was too much FFVII representation. - Mickey's outfit in Birth by Sleep is just his KH2 outfit but in monochrome as a reference to his black and white cartoon origins since the game takes place in the past. - Laguna Loire from FFVIII was supposed to be in Birth by Sleep as the host of the Mirage Arena but Square decided to put him in Dissidia 012 instead since they felt he had great potential for a moveset. It's speculated his presence in a prequel would've tied to Leon's story since he is his father. - Nomura wanted to include Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in KH3 but Disney didn't let him because they felt it would've been "difficult" to fit him in the story. - The Wild Bruiser Unversed is speculated to be a remnant from the scrapped Jungle Book world as his ape-like design and banana on its head are reminiscent of King Louie. - Cinderella has brown hair on her Station of Awakening even though she's clearly a blonde. This wasn't fixed in the 1.5 release. - Even though Goofy's origin is correctly listed as "Mickey's Revue" from 1932 in KH1, for some reason in all future games his origin is listed as "Two Weeks Vacation" from 1952, a random Goofy short released 20 years after his actual debut. The Ultimania lists his original correct debut, though.
Man, you've done a fantastic research! Props to you👍. I knew some facts (ex: the thing about Aya which, still to this day, makes me sad😭😭) but the majority of them were totally unknown to me. To add a fact that I know of that isn't on your list (probably because it's acually one of the most unverified among the KH rumors): The possibility of a Gargoyles world was seriously considered back in the days of KH1; it is even said that Greg Weisman himself (the creator of Gargoyles) confirmed this rumor by speaking of so-called "contacts between him and Squaresoft" but honestly I have never managed to find any real confirmation of all this.
5:31 Oooh wait. Is that why Sora had different designs for each world he visited in the concept arts of KH1? He would essentially copy the abilities of each party member he encounters? If you look at how Sora fights throughout the series he's always copied the attacks, magic, and abilities he sees. Even taking some of Ventus' moves like Fever Pitch Finisher and incorporating it into his Risk Dodge Counter. That's so unique and explains so much about how long they've thought about Sora's unique style of combat.
I can understand the sentiment of wanting KH2 to be the ending but at the same time it's just weird to think about what I'd be doing if KH2 truly was the final game. No PSP from my friend who let me play BBS on it. No longer imagining what the next game will have in store. No continuous fan events and concerts. If there wasn't a constant stream of KH media most of these discussions would get stale very fast and the series would be very irrelevant to most modern discussions within gaming. Every game after KH2 is what kept KH relevant for all these years. Imagine who would be in Smash Bros. if it wasn't Sora. It's so hard to think about how utterly different the landscape of not just games but storytelling would be if we didn't have something like Kingdom Hearts. It's truly an inspirational piece of gaming that I'm so glad to see unfold in my lifetime. It's been an amazing journey as a fan of the series and seriously cannot wait for KH4.
Whatever y'all said about Kingdom Hearts, these series help me a lot during my childhood times. I've been playing the game since 2002 and for me, this is one of the best series out there. Can't wait for KH 4.
i feel like the inital vision nomura had for the final scene of kingdom hearts as a whole is probably the visual of sora dusting away on the tree at destiny island. it would make for a great ending and really feels like one of those kinds of shots (speaking as a creative myself) that pops up in your mind and develops over time to give you something to work toward. Of course, that shot ISN'T the end of Kingdom hearts but if I had to guess, at the time that was what he probably had in mind as the ending.
I think we did see an updated version of CoM’s card system. Day’s Panel system. Think about it, the chips and cards have to be equipped in a gridded inventory in order to be able to use those abilities. Heck even the idea of the different keyblade cards with different stats and some with elemental damage, reminds me of how the keyblades in days change up your base combo
As both a kingdom hearts fan and a card game fan, i found CoM's card system genius. It's really awesome to see that nomura wanted to do a sequel! Also the pixel art was beautiful, i wouldn't mind more KH games with that style
So I played FF7 remake and rebirth for the first time and they were amazing!! It was so cool to see characters I got introduced to through KH as a kid and where the originally came from. Cloud is a real G….I got the FF bug and tried FF16 and just got burned. I figured I’d go back through KH 1.5 and 2.5. I’ve attempted chain of memories multiple times and just can’t get the mechanics…like AT ALL. Would love to see a tips and tricks video on how to get better with the card system. Love this channel thanks for all you do!!
I like the card system from Chain of Memories, but it always felt like it clashed a little with having to move your character around the battlefield. I think it would feel much better, if battles were in a turn-based format, instead.
The hate on KH1 Atlantica is mostly by people who just mash x. The enemies are designed to be killed by magic and drop a ton of mp orbs so you don’t run out. The movement is clunky but that largely doesn’t matter if you’re killing everything with magic.
I think I’ll give money to more games once I get a job to finish off the ones I haven’t even touched yet. I had an awesome friend and baby sitter when I was little that had all the games and I’m so grateful I got to play them when I could. I still can’t believe I beat KH1 without leveling anything as a kid. Honest to god thought I was the worst player of the series only to find out I was just the stupidest player of the series 😅 quite a challenge. I didn’t change the Keyblades keychains either. Didn’t know how to heal or use magic. Just imagine a 9 year old playing KH1 and dying almost every single 10 mins when playing hahaha 😂 Love the uploads Joinen and I’m just as excited to continue the franchise and see what Nomura has in store for us fans! ❤
It seems to me that BBS and DDD are the evolution of the COM combat system. You have command decks and reloading. You just don't have cards for basic attacks which is honestly way better.
I’d be curious to get your thoughts on what it kh4 worlds played like rebirth where we get 4-5 words but the content is about the same as the different areas in rebirth
Something I really want to see for Kingdom Hearts 4 is more mini games. Similar to Final Fantasy 7 rebirth’s variety of mini games. One of my favorite parts of Final Fantasy 7 rebirth is playing Queen’s Blood, and I would love to see a similar little card game in KH4. Maybe even adding Queen’s blood directly into KH4 but making the cards based off heartless instead of fiends and monsters.
Been a kingdom hearts fan from the beginning and until the end sora and Roxas are my favorite characters and riku too I got alot of love the series and video games 🎮 too I own kingdom hearts 2 and kingdom hearts 3 and kingdom hearts 1 for the ps2 as well so yeah big fan of the series and video game too love the game s hold a special place in my heart.
Nomura needs to understand that not everything in the game has to have a narrative explanation, I get it that it makes the game super cohesive, but if an organization member appeared in an arena cup unlocked after beating the final boss I wouldn't really mind it However I do have to admit that the data greeting is one of the best features kh2fm and re-mind added to the game
Knowing that the series has an ending planned makes sense, as does the possibility of it ending with KH2. I'm curious to see how far it will go. I've enjoyed my time with Kingdom Hearts and I look forward to seeing what we learn in KH4.
Sora can do some other stuff. I want to see the Disney princesses have their own level where they bust out of a heartless compound and it can be a skyscraper corporate headquarters, something subversive instead of a heart-shaped castle all the time. And they have their own team heist, hijacking the impounded gummy ship and busting out guns a blazing!
2:15 I mean it ain't bad, chain of memories was decent/good. It's just that if you we're to give me the choice of choosing KH 1, 2, 3 faster pace real time combat and Chain of memories combat, I'd most likely choose the former.
Think about super Mario Odyssey. How it went 3D to 2D. Not the first time it's happened in a game either. The fact he's talked about opening KH4 to multitude of universes(Star Wars 3D or live action, Wreck it Ralph being an actual video game simulation world, instead of world and using Shibuya(twewy) NDS, and even more videogame style 2D from Chain of memories. I feel like I already know what they're going to do with the next game
I think it was easy to not feel that excited about the KH3 story since the major plot points were spoiled 7 years before the game came out in Dream Drop Distance.
"We had to cut Rikku out due to time constraints." Denial is not a river in Egypt, guys, we KNOW why Rikku got cut... because you stupidly named a character Riku and it would have confused the f**k out of the players. XD
I've always loved games that try to change the formula like Chain of Memories, sure they tend to not be perfect but the unique gameplay style keeps me attached
If they want to branch out into different genres in the future, i would hope we get a character action game similar to dmc. Would be a great way to let us play as some of the other characters as well without getting rid of action combat. Another thing i would like to see is a 3d zelda like game in this world similar to ocarina of time, with the puzzles and all. That's strangely enough a gameplay style other studios never really tried to replicate.
I laughed at this video at first before I realized that it was yours. If anyone could dig deep enough to find things that people actually didn't know it would be you!
I live in America and somehow I was able to play some of coded on a lg 1 or lg3, i don't remember which. The episode had agrabah and a Cinderella, malificent world. I do not remember much but I have no idea how I was able to play it if it is Japan exclusive, the game was even in english. I remember you had no party members and the game was actually insane for a mobile game at the time.
been watching your content love it. I love kingdom hearts best crossover ever. Im excited for kingdm heartsw 4. Interesting facts didngt know a fewof them. the ice cream fact is amusing. What disney worlds do you think will return in 4 and what new worlds? ? Im hoping for neverland halloweentoen and besst castle. New worlds im hoping for mary poppins, soul, marvrl, star wars, the blsck cauldren, coco, Im in the toy story world in kh 3 and im lovinig it
honestly, if they ever remake kh1 they should bring that prince -> Hollow Bastion storyline in I think that would be kinda fierce. Also I think they could use the Mad Hatter instead of the White Rabbit
#1 didn't know #2 Didn't know still don't like it but its not horrible but don't give it to me again #3 Didn't know but glad it didn't end there. #4. Didn't know #5. Didn't know. #6. I knew that one. #6.5 Yes Karaoke Sora event in game 😂😂 #7. Didn't know that. #8. Didn't know that but I love Sea Salt Icce cream too its soo damn good. #9. Didn't know that either but glad it got into the garden. #10. didn't know that #11. Knew that one #12. Didn't know that #13. Didn't know that. Love Nomura and thanks for the video my guy.
my only thing is, if nomura wants to end the XIII saga with KH3, then why does he keep inlcuding new characters in organization outfits and loose ends that can still be explained or at least include the other organization members?
IT would be Sora the Harem king if KH went the route of Sora ended up saving Every Princess in every world cause that is just him Collecting his own waifus
Now I'm kinda wondering if Nomura got a cat, because that was the closest thing to a lion. 😂 If he likes lions so much, he can trade for my birth date lol. I was unfortunately born leo and I hate cats. 🙃 9:24 well one of Nomura's first characters he developed was Setzer from final fantasy 6. So man really loves his gamblers lol.
Give us an inbetween game thats a prequal or something thats a horror game. be a vanilla person trying to survive the fall of a world to the heartless!
For Alice it would have been the Chesire Cat not the White Rabbit The cat ends up leading her back to reality and the rabbit just leads her further into insanity
Also even though the Live action Alice movies aren't the best it'd be kinda cool to see them in KH4 and they can maybe explain away the differences with how Sora and Alice had originally perceived Wonderland when they were younger It could give us a chance to fight the Jabberwocky
@@pickedceasar1216I would loveeee to see Alice in Wonderland in the next game but as the live action version and not the animated one again. It would be so trippy and cool to see in the KH art style
I really am excited for Kingdom Hearts as a series. Look at any other videogame franchise and you'll quickly appreciate that KH has remained this consistent for this long. Halo is ruined, Zelda became complicated, Witcher and Cyberpunk need you to have required reading materials to understand, Metal Gear Solid was straight up stolen from the creator, God of War alienated many fans with the drastic shift in gameplay and storytelling (still a good series but worth noting it's backlash), and many great series just left for dead for absolutely no reason like Sly Cooper.
I love KH and i love this video but i dont think i like the abreviation of Chain of Memories. Ive been on the onternet too long snd i cant hear you say COM out loud without a giggle.
Kingdom Hearts 2 was actually very disappointing for me as a child because the story was a mess. To think they could end the series with KH2? Is that a joke? What about that game or CoM makes any sense from a storytelling perspective?
I despise everyone who complained about KH1 Atlantica 😭 it was my dream come true to kick some ass beside Ariel! It was my favorite world, my favorite Disney movie, I loved that WORLD Damn you all 😩😭🥲 lol Haters!
Coded was the weird black sheep of all the gameplays. It had a command deck but unfortunately not many attacks were all that unique often just a different elemental version of the same attack animation. The finishers were very flashy and cool but that doesn't really change the odd snappy nature of the animations and enemies because of the hardware limitations. Chain of Memories actually had unique rooms for each World so it was new despite being the same Worlds from the first game. In Coded it's straight up the same places from KH1 with some tacked on mechanics.
I wish KH ended at 2. It would had been the perfect ending. Now we're just making stuff up while letting disney put in blatant disney movie and park commercials in game.
Hate to break it to you but all the games advertised Disney, you’re just older and more cynical now. If the series did end at kh2, most the unexplained mysteries never would have been explained and several plot threads would have never been concluded.
Gotta hand it to ya Jared, a lot of these facts I had NO idea about. And here I thought I knew everything about KH, I stand corrected.
In my 27 years of life, no matter how bad or crazy the world gets, this series and the community around it have always provided me with a feeling of comfort. I genuinely don't know what my life would look like without the influence of this wonderful franchise.

You're only 27
@@f5203 And? I happen to be also 27 and I also can't imagine my life without kh. So to make a point about age, are you 50 or 15?
FAAAAAACTS!!! PREACH!
KH community is dumb and will be drool over anything KH related.
Miss these type of videos, feels like the OG days waiting for KH3 7+ years ago, love the content bruv, thanks for the many years of great content

re chain of memories was my first kingdom hearts and i like it
a lot
Kingdom Karts, Kingdom HeartZ, etc. it all practically writes itself.
Kingdom, kingdom, rock the kingdom.
dude. Chain of Memories 2 would go so hard with drive forms, new combos, etc
Rounding up the princes and having them storm the castle would have been so cool.
"Nomura and the team are very aware of what people do and don't like with Kingdom Hearts"
Are they?... ARE THEY?!?
the evolution of the card system is the command Deck that we use for the other side titles
Whatever y'all said about Kingdom Hearts, these series help me a lot during my childhood times. I've been playing the game since 2002 and for me, this is one of the best series out there. Can't wait for KH 4.

So the Atlantica world in KH2 was the result of fans wishing on a monkey’s paw?
the KH1 beta trailer also has some hints to kh 4. they talk about saving sora and that he is about to go away. very interesting
7:00 - The original german version of KH2 Atlantica was very relaxing ^^
I like the card system from Chain of Memories, but it always felt like it clashed a little with having to move your character around the battlefield. I think it would feel much better, if battles were in a turn-based format, instead.
Chain of memories was really fun and a great system. I agree post game content just didn’t exist but I loved the game
Chain of memories and the combat system is still the best and my favorite. I liked it when it released i like it now and ill love it forever 🤍🤍🤍
Ok but a COM 2 with evolved card system and Octopath Traveler graphics would cook
The hate on KH1 Atlantica is mostly by people who just mash x. The enemies are designed to be killed by magic and drop a ton of mp orbs so you don’t run out. The movement is clunky but that largely doesn’t matter if you’re killing everything with magic.
If kingdom hearts didn’t take 4-5 years between the main games their fan base would grow much higher.
I too would like to see Atlantica revisited with the tech and circumstance we have available now. Glad I'm not the only one!
I feel like union cross unchained x was a successor to chain of memories with metals instead of cards.
1:17 This is from the WHAT?!
Jokes on you, I knew all of these things! Jk great video, love these deep dive fact videos from you

You ever gonna release any of the actual codes from your old KH2FM code showcases? :(
Nomura needs to understand that not everything in the game has to have a narrative explanation, I get it that it makes the game super cohesive, but if an organization member appeared in an arena cup unlocked after beating the final boss I wouldn't really mind it

I'd love to see a Kingdom Hearts tactics game. FF tactics one of my top games ever
Feels like I just got a blast from the past - HOW does this game have so much IRL lore ahahaha
You know, speaking on other genres of game, Kingdom Hearts has more than enough characters for both a fighting game and a Hyrule Warriors style game.
Sora can do some other stuff. 2:15 I mean it ain't bad, chain of memories was decent/good. It's just that if you we're to give me the choice of choosing KH 1, 2, 3 faster pace real time combat and Chain of memories combat, I'd most likely choose the former.
Imagine a roguelike styled side mode for a chain of memories 2.
I feel like I already know what they're going to do with the next game
i Still believe the darkness Caius released at the end of ff13 is the same darkness Kairi grandma speaks of
I think it was easy to not feel that excited about the KH3 story since the major plot points were spoiled 7 years before the game came out in Dream Drop Distance.
"We had to cut Rikku out due to time constraints."
Denial is not a river in Egypt, guys, we KNOW why Rikku got cut... because you stupidly named a character Riku and it would have confused the f**k out of the players. XD
That was my thought
I've always loved games that try to change the formula like Chain of Memories, sure they tend to not be perfect but the unique gameplay style keeps me attached
COM gameplay is very good tbh, although in the end everyone just spam mega flare and lethal frame
I get this strange feeling that Yuffie was going to be the Item Shop as akin to Cid being the Accessory Clerk in KH1
Should have been a thief who chills in agrabah with Aladin.
More genres? Kingdom Hearts baseball?
I live in America and somehow I was able to play some of coded on a lg 1 or lg3, i don't remember which. The episode had agrabah and a Cinderella, malificent world. I do not remember much but I have no idea how I was able to play it if it is Japan exclusive, the game was even in english. I remember you had no party members and the game was actually insane for a mobile game at the time.
Do a top 10 party members
I’ve read kingdom hearts manga since I was 14
KH4 could just be the next Yakuza game where the mini-games are more fun then the actual game
do you ever wonder if Nomura watches your reactions to kh?
good video:)
been watching your content love it. New worlds im hoping for mary poppins, soul, marvrl, star wars, the blsck cauldren, coco, Im in the toy story world in kh 3 and im lovinig it
Jokes on you, i knew about CoM, BUT that was the only one xD
13 ?!?!?
i thoght the reason for Yuffies and Rikku to swap was that it would get confusing with Riku
What's in the box! 😅😂
Hot take, I love COM once I learned the system
Wow, what are the odds there ended up being 13?
There are YT videos with full run of Kingdom Hearts Coded.
honestly, if they ever remake kh1 they should bring that prince -> Hollow Bastion storyline in I think that would be kinda fierce. Also I think they could use the Mad Hatter instead of the White Rabbit
But if he already planned 10 games ahead why does it take 10 years for ONE game to come out?
Love Nomura and thanks for the video my guy.
my only thing is, if nomura wants to end the XIII saga with KH3, then why does he keep inlcuding new characters in organization outfits and loose ends that can still be explained or at least include the other organization members?
id love the series to continue but he keeps bringing XIII back so, there MUST be more to them than he wants to tell us.
13.... 😮😮😮😮
IT would be Sora the Harem king if KH went the route of Sora ended up saving Every Princess in every world cause that is just him Collecting his own waifus
I wish 3 was better. All the other ones are good my favorite being com
Now I'm kinda wondering if Nomura got a cat, because that was the closest thing to a lion. 😂 If he likes lions so much, he can trade for my birth date lol. I was unfortunately born leo and I hate cats. 🙃
9:24 well one of Nomura's first characters he developed was Setzer from final fantasy 6. So man really loves his gamblers lol.
He does indeed have a cat! In fact you can find him on the kh3 box art next to Ventus sitting on a ledge.
Give us an inbetween game thats a prequal or something thats a horror game. be a vanilla person trying to survive the fall of a world to the heartless!
For Alice it would have been the Chesire Cat not the White Rabbit
The cat ends up leading her back to reality and the rabbit just leads her further into insanity
Also even though the Live action Alice movies aren't the best it'd be kinda cool to see them in KH4 and they can maybe explain away the differences with how Sora and Alice had originally perceived Wonderland when they were younger
It could give us a chance to fight the Jabberwocky
@@pickedceasar1216I would loveeee to see Alice in Wonderland in the next game but as the live action version and not the animated one again. It would be so trippy and cool to see in the KH art style
Some of these fact I didn’t know.
Dinah would come for Alice. Dinah the kitten.
Ahem.. *13* FACTS HUH?
*"COÏNCIDENCE ? I THINK NOT."*
WE HAVE SEEN COM 2 MECHANICS!!! THE PHONE GAMES!!!
I despise everyone who complained about KH1 Atlantica 😭 it was my dream come true to kick some ass beside Ariel! It was my favorite world, my favorite Disney movie, I loved that WORLD
Damn you all 😩😭🥲 lol
Haters!
IDEAR
I don’t dislike CoM, I dislike ReCoded sooooo much (hatred)
Coded was the weird black sheep of all the gameplays. It had a command deck but unfortunately not many attacks were all that unique often just a different elemental version of the same attack animation. The finishers were very flashy and cool but that doesn't really change the odd snappy nature of the animations and enemies because of the hardware limitations. Chain of Memories actually had unique rooms for each World so it was new despite being the same Worlds from the first game. In Coded it's straight up the same places from KH1 with some tacked on mechanics.
Missed oppurtunity to make this video 13 mins long...
Did somebody say 13??😳
I wish KH ended at 2. It would had been the perfect ending. Now we're just making stuff up while letting disney put in blatant disney movie and park commercials in game.
Hate to break it to you but all the games advertised Disney, you’re just older and more cynical now. If the series did end at kh2, most the unexplained mysteries never would have been explained and several plot threads would have never been concluded.
Cool
so its our fault for kh2 Atlantica?
