From someone who's sat in a Carolina crown circle during rehearsal. Music is life changing. Especially when done by people as passionate as these people are.
Star of Indiana still lives. The 2016 hit still levitates my soul any time I hear it. I seriously believe it's Matt Harloff's end goal to make this horn line the best the DCI will hear year in and out.
And honestly, how can a good hornline NOT be great when the caption head is as animated as Harloff?? That kind of thing bleeds over to the performers very easily.
I assure you he was not like before his stint with Crown. I was familiar with him in his time with Star of Indiana in 1993, their last year when he was pulled out of the hornline to become the drum major. Crown is Star 2.0. One of my favorite videos of Crown's hornline! The chart at the end is rather confusing though. I believe the creator of the video ranked the shows' brass scores relative to each other, so the 2012 and 2017 are tied for second high brass score just for Carolina Crown. 2017's show was actually 3rd place overall, and while 2015 is tied for their own 4th highest brass score, they placed 2nd overall. 2013 was not only best brass for that year, but Crown's best brass score ever and the only perfect brass score in history. Hey Courtney - you should do a commentary on the LSU-Florida Gators game that happened this weekend. Game ended when a Florida defensive player threw the shoe of an LSU player 25 yards and drew a penalty that allowed LSU to kick the game winning field goal. here's the link: ruclips.net/video/WHIzVVXdkzY/видео.html
You're missing 2008. You should check it out.
