    This was my first full frame lens.
    I had a bit of buyer's remorse - like yourself, I'm usually a prime guy, but then I did a weekend at a fairly chaotic event where I was videographer, and this lens was a total godsend for that. No complaints at all from a video point of view.

      @professionalpotato4764 11 месяцев назад +1

      Indeed. For video, zooms all the way. Shooting videos with primes is only feasible if you have an AC to help swap lenses. Also the need to switch ND filters across lenses or be rich enough to buy 1 ND per lens? Ughhh.... I swear by primes for photography, but zooms for video.

    If you really think about it, it zooms in counterclockwise because of where it’s from. In Japan they read in the opposite direction, so the zoom would be counterclockwise to suite them better. It’s clockwise for us because that’s how we are used to reading and our daily life. Makes sense that they would make the zoom to suite them first.

      Yeah but aren't Sony and Sigma both Japanese companies?

    • @eliflores8845
      @eliflores8845 Месяц назад

      @@itmeremy they are but I’m guessing one worries more about the foreign markets than the other. Atleast with something as small as the direction of the zoom lens. It could be as simple as whoever designed the lens annoyed to zoom in the opposite direction than what they are used to.

    as someone who is new to photography, and struggles to buy myself "budget" level things that I will later regret and spend more to upgrade... I chose this lens and I'm absolutely in love with it. for my FF sony, I only have this sigma, a 60mm 2:1 macro, and a 85mm viltrox (which is surprisingly great for the price) I have 95% of my bases covered... now to just sell a kidney so I can afford a 200-600(ish) lens.

    After a full year only having 50mm, and then tryout zoom lens (24-120mm f4), it will suit my needs very well as I'm doing event photography so much and need that constant aperture. Now I'm aiming to update my setup to Nikon Z in 6 months and will have 24-70mm f4 and 105mm f1.4 in plan.

    • @itmeremy
      @itmeremy  Год назад

      Totally fair. You would've learned a lot from having only a 50mm for a year though. And that sounds like a good plan

      @@itmeremy I will maybe get another or keep my current nifty fifty, limiting your creative works with only 1 or 2 lens sometimes is just fun and will make you push yourself on what you could do with such limitation. Cheers with this content!

      @fajar13k that's so true. I love the gear side of it all but I can also understand that limitations like that can help with creativity

    What's your serial number? Does it still have the dust issue? Some say the newer manufactured ones have already fixed the dust issue

      I personally haven't had any issues with dust. But that makes sense

    Would you say this is a good lens paired with the a7cii for someone starting out on youtube (guitar and music videos) and creating online courses??

    • @itmeremy
      @itmeremy  24 дня назад

      That'd be a great combo. Very versatile. The only thing would be that this lens is pretty big and that camera is pretty small. Definitely still usable but might feel a bit unbalanced

    Tamron 28-75mm g2 also good choice and cheeper:)

    • @itmeremy
      @itmeremy  Год назад

      True. You just have to be ok with the slightly different focal range. Also, I'm pretty sure the build quality of the Tamron wouldn't be as good, if I'm remembering correctly

      @@Girennut The Tamron g2 quality is perfect, but I also prefer Sigma due to manual focus in video, which is in Tamron very bad

    Hmm i guess i have to get this one for my ZVE1.. although it is heavy for my camera.

      This would be pretty big and heavy for the ZVE1, but it would be a pretty good combo

    I just got the Sony A74 and looking for an awesome lens to get for filming and I think this is the best lens for me 😅

      It works great with the a7IV. Only thing is since it's not a Sony lens, it can't do focus breathing compensation, but I don't think it even breathes all that much so I don't think it'd be a big deal

      Fair point, I do need to get better at incorporating more b roll. When I was editing though I couldn't really find many places that it made sense, and I hadn't taken any example shots specifically for this video
