    If your serious about filmmaking and you dnt already own sigma art lenses I feel you should get the new sony 24-70 2.8 gm lens with new motors ...it will auto focus better it's lighter and the bokeh is amazing...the colors pop more . It's a better lens ...if you can't afford it save up scrub floors etc you will be much more happier with the gm . I dnt own Sony anymore I have a red and I am invested in Canon and sigma glass but my experience with gm is one hella of an experience . In fact I miss it . Sony gmasters are special like the rf canon glass .you'll feel better and more inspired to create with this awesome glass . Sigma is great. I have sigma on my red but for sony take advantage of the gmasters they are made to go together

    • @KenseiAkatsu
      @KenseiAkatsu  2 года назад

      In fact, that's true.
      I know GM is the best for quality. Especially I am addicted to 100-400GM images.
      But I feel I am responsible for showing a lot of options for many kinds of people.
      With that being said, I thought this lens would be the "Almost 2470GM" lens, and it would makes it easier to start a camera life.
      But anyway, thanks for honest opinion, appreciate it!!

    I am a complete noob, so can anyone explain why people value single prime lens over lens with multiple ranges in layman’s terms?

    • @brettlarson912
      @brettlarson912 3 года назад +2

      Oftentimes focal length / aperture play a large role as well as price. For example, many zoom lenses have a maximum aperture of f4.5 or similar when at the widest focal length (24mm in the case of 24-70). The more you zoom in (say up to 50mm), the more your maximum aperture changes too (f6, etc). As that aperture value increases, you have a larger focal length, which means less bokeh (the pleasant, intentional blurring of background or foreground in film). Most zoom lenses that have a constant maximum aperture, such as this sigma 24-70mm, which can be set to f2.8 across all zoom ranges (and therefore shallower depth of field and more bokeh), are more expensive than a zoom lens with a standard f stop that changes with focal length/zoom range. Since a prime lens (let’s say a 50mm, one common for film) has only one focal length, it will have the ability to sit at f1.8 or f2, allowing control over depth of field, for less money compared to a zoom lens that has the ability for a wider open aperture. Hope this makes sense.
