    I love my 24-70 but I bought the 24 f1.4 for indoors, and the 85 f1.4 for a portrait master lens.

    I agree, 24-70mm is great but you should have at least one prime lens. The 24mm f1.4 is definitely the one for me, gives me more bokeh than the zoom and reduces my ISO levels when shooting concerts. I sometimes use the crop mode on my Sony A7IV to get a bit more zoom on the 24mm (~35mm equivalent).

      @gerardneedham  Год назад +2

      Yes 100% I think the 24mm is a great option to get that extra depth, as 24mm at 2.8 doest give you much. 50mm f1.2 or 1.4 is also a great option as you can do anything with it

      Why should I have one prime lens? Just starting to get into videography and I personally don't see the reason for primes but ofc I can stand to learn.

    • @ItzSlushie
      @ItzSlushie 11 месяцев назад

      @@TheJaminator128 primes usually go to lower apertures. 1.2, 1.4, 1.8 etc. they open more to let your sensor get more light. Let’s say you run iso 1200 and have your 24-70 on 2.8. In a darker environment you may be -1.7 stops underexposed vs running a 1.4 or 1.8. Which would get you ever so closer to evenly exposed. It’s all preference but it doesn’t hurt to run with an extra lens if you may need it.

    Thanks for making this video, im thinking of getting the 28 75 from tamron. Would 28mm be wide enough for vertical/portrait videos?

    • @gerardneedham
      @gerardneedham  5 месяцев назад

      Yes, absolutely, I find 28mm not wide enough for weddings but I love the focal length 28mm

    Great review but I would like to know your opinion about sigma 28-70 f2.8 . it's lighter and smaller . so the sigma 24-70 doesn't bother you while you're using it ?

    • @gerardneedham
      @gerardneedham  Год назад

      Bro the 28-70 is tiny, great lens for sure. I own the tamron 28-70 and that’s also great, zooms the wrong way tho 😅

    What are your thoughts on the Tamron 28-75 G2 vs the Sigma 24-70?
    Is the 4mm worth it? Or should I get the 28-75 and a 24 1.4?
    I have a 35 1.8, 55 1.8, 85 1.8 and 70-180 G2 2.8

    • @gerardneedham
      @gerardneedham  10 месяцев назад +1

      We have the 28-75 from tamron, it’s a fantastic lens but the 4mm is a massive difference on the wide end. The zoom ring is also around the wrong way

    Convincing and concise post, Gerard. Unless I just missed it in the vid, what were the focal lengths of the two primes you used before switching to a zoom?
    Coffee lover - yes. Stainless steel French press a good choice. However, it looked like you added a fine grind into the pot instead of a coarse grind that is customary for a French press. Am I right? If so, how come the finer grind (more grit to get past the coarse sieve of the press). Coffee lovers tend to notice that sort of thing. 😊Hope the power wasn’t out for long. BTW, was that you in the kid photo? Cheers!

      yeah that's me a kid ahahahah, my nana took it on her film camera. Yeah so the 2 primes I used most was the 24 and 85mm, I still use that set up, but really just take my 50mm and 24-70. I think it was French press grind, can't remember ahahahah

    Wow your intro video looks really good. Will the sigma 24-70 look just as good on A7C? I saw you use A7iv.

    Hi. great vid out there, may I ask what would be the ideal prime to pair/complement this great zoom, for the moment, the 24-70 is my only lens but I am kinda lost into which prime lens should I get next, I mean I am torn between the 35 and 85 1.4s thank you.

    • @gerardneedham
      @gerardneedham  Год назад +4

      They the way I pack for a job is my 24-70 then my 50mm always, as they are both my most versatile lenses. If the 24-70 brakes I can finish the job on the 50mm.
      So I think if you can only have the 2 lenses then these are them
