I wonder how it fares it very low light situations. Using an A7iii, I shoot lots of corporate events where it's dim lighting for cocktail hours, and a popular thing now is casino nights. Almost as dark as night club situations. My Tamron 28-75 has trouble grabbing focus at times, and I have never tried the G Master in this setting. If the Sigma works better than the Tamron, I will definitely make the switch.

Now that the version II for Sony is out the version I is less expensive. I wonder if the Soney is preferable. I think the auto focus may be better and lens breathing compensation?
Can anyone help me out with this question.... I was wondering if I were to buy a Sony a7iii could I use canon lenses on the Sony? Do I need to buy that adapter in order to use them? I only have one canon lens but I’m still curious.

I am in the same boat. If the Sigma is within $200 of the Sony when I go to buy one of the two in March I will go with the Sony. When the price diff is that small then I would rather get the 1st party lens. When they are $500 or more apart then I will 100% get the third party.
Great review. This is why I watch your channel. Yes, there is some technical stuff about the lenses, but unlike most other channels, you test these lenses out. You give comparisons and give your personal thoughts why you like the lenses. I love black and white, it can even have digital noise and still look good. Sometimes it adds to the character of the image. Colour? Yes, bold colours on the spectrum from the purple-blue to the yellows and reds, nice to see. Especially when they are so bold. Great video as always. One thought ( don’t know if others agree). Sigma seems to work well with the Sony’s and Tamron seems to work well with Nikon.

I preordered my sigma December 5th and just got it yesterday. I upgraded from the 28-70 kit lens (I shoot with a A7III) and was debating between buying the tamron or g master after it went on sale, but when I heard this lens was released I took a chance on sigma and could not be happier.
Reef Oceania how are you liking it on your A7 III? I’m still debating on whether or not I’m going to get it.
How about now that it's full of dust?
Just got mine yesterday! I switch my Tamron 28-75 f2.8, Tamron is great sense, but this sigma build and optical performance it's just another level
How’s the dust performance been? I’ve been highly considering it but I heard that it collects dust really easily and after a few months it gets near unusable.
how is the dust problem?
@@ashmaterial I hd mine for 5 months now, and I have no issues, seems to be this was a problem on the earlier revisions of the lease, The newest revisions have been corrected as far as I understand. again my copy it's flawless thankfully.
I got Sony A7i and it don’t have ibis, and I want to find a Len with image stabilizer please give me recommandation? I am thinking of getting Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 ART or Tamron 28-75mm F2.8? For prime i am thinking of getting Sony 20mm F1.8 since I already got FE 50MM F1.8 LENS? . For telephoto zoom I should I get Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 or Tamron 75-180 F2.8?
Was that a Fifth Element reference? Because I think that was a Fifth Element reference...
Multipass!
There are many users have dust problem with Sigma. Jared, do you have the dust problem with Sigma 28-70?
Been waiting for an actual real review. Appreciate all your work. Thanks for your help! Definitely picking up this lens !
Luis Pinto you will love it, I do.
The autofocus Its good even in video mode?
Cause I just worked with the G master and was good
I wonder how it fares it very low light situations.
What's your feedback on the lens long term? Are you having dust issues like so many have complained about? Thanks
4:39 is 4 inches enough?
Your simple language and your videos are very good for beginners as well as pro photographers.
LOVE FROM INDIA
Jared, is the Sigma as good as the Sony for Video? I heard it doesn't focus as quick and it may be a little noisier? Thank you.
is the image stabilization a big deal say if i get this lens for my a-6400 ?
Why would you put a full frame lens on a apsc body?
@@TheOneAboveAll_ because the lens still works great and you can upgrae to full frame when ever
Thanks Jared, went with the Sigma thanks to your advice. Cheers
where would you put this next to the 28-75mm f2.8 tamron??
Some comparisons have already been done. The gmaster slightly edges the sigma and the sigma edges the tamron
Please, can you tell us how suitable this is for the Sony A6400? SHarpness? Focus accuracy? etc? thanks
i know this is a year old but in short NO the sigma is much bigger on a small body throwing off the weight ratio for anybody that finds this comment & is looking for a decent zoom on APS -C around $1000 or less look into the sony 18-55mm f2.8 , sony 18-105mm f4, tamron 18-200mm f3.5-6.3, specifically the tamron 17-70mm f2.8 VC will be the closest comparable to this lens
"Asis, light! " made my day 😂
Never gets old! :D
didn't get it,can someone explain please
@@ramimxss go watch The Fifth Element.
😂😂😂 „Assis: Light!“ what a cool link to „The 5. Element“
sony g master 24-105 vs sigma 24-70 mm which is one is better for sony a73 camera
Ok ,the shot of AOC was freaking great. It captured her the she is. She leaning in to tackle the tough problems. No fluff (bokem) background, just a real honest shot. Great work. Question: should I get this lens if I already have the 28-70 f3.5. If not, what lens would you suggest. I mainly shoot street photos. Thanks home Boy, I'm from Philly also.
She's full of crap. Tackling nothing. Just another loud mouth fraud.
I'm watching this just to make myself feel better about ordering this lens earlier today, haha! Thank you.
Can you tell me if it can be calibrated or does not need it ?!
Is it compatible for Sony E mount APSC cameras?
Great review Mr P. Appreciate the impartiality.
Hi Jared, if you had to choose between the sigma 24-70 and the sigma 35 1.4 what would you pick?
Only budget for one…. To shoot photos at behind the scenes for ballroom dance comps
Ha ha ha... Aziz... "Aziz... Battery". It was a good movie!!! Thanks for the good review. I just got A7iii and looking to get additional lens. 👍🍺
That Eye-AF blows my mind 🤯 Nice video man!
Are the Sigma ART Zoom lenses (for Sony) mechanical or focus by wire?
Fantastic review.
Really enjoyed and informed. 👌👌👌
I have the Sigma 14-24 f 2.8 and the Sigma 24-70 f 2.8 for my Sony A7iii:) still waiting for the 70 200 f 2.8...
markus very nice arsenal 💯
Yep, great setup.
Do you have any info when will sigma release 70-200 2.8 e mount?
Reef Oceania when 70-200 f2.8?
Do you regret not saving a little more for the sony set? I’m interested in that lineup, but worried about focusing in video.
Is this lens for the Sony full frame mirror less camera or is the sigma lens designed for Sony apsc cameras that fits on the Sony emount system?
got it a month back
really happy with the choice and the glass
But Jared says it's not even out yet.
@@thomasfox5476 it's not in the states
Great review!
Got a tamron 28-75mm last year and remains on my A7III... 24mm would've been a nice reach to have but still happy w/my tamron 🙃
I think there is still no better value than the a7iii with the Tamron 28-75 on the market. I love mine too.
if u need 24mm i prefer 24mm f1.4.
Now that the version II for Sony is out the version I is less expensive. I wonder if the Soney is preferable. I think the auto focus may be better and lens breathing compensation?
Is this for APSC or full frame?
FF
Can anyone help me out with this question.... I was wondering if I were to buy a Sony a7iii could I use canon lenses on the Sony? Do I need to buy that adapter in order to use them? I only have one canon lens but I’m still curious.
Tasha Helgesen yes you will need an adapter, as they use a different mount
Great video! 2 years later still very relevant: I can get the Sigma new (no 2nd hand/refurbished available around here atm) for €1100 and the 'old' GM I for €1199 refurbished (inc warranty, etc). Would love to get some opinions! Thanks
I am in the same boat. If the Sigma is within $200 of the Sony when I go to buy one of the two in March I will go with the Sony. When the price diff is that small then I would rather get the 1st party lens. When they are $500 or more apart then I will 100% get the third party.
HELP! Should I consider this lens in 2023 (with a7 IV)?
Great review. This is why I watch your channel. Yes, there is some technical stuff about the lenses, but unlike most other channels, you test these lenses out. You give comparisons and give your personal thoughts why you like the lenses. I love black and white, it can even have digital noise and still look good. Sometimes it adds to the character of the image. Colour? Yes, bold colours on the spectrum from the purple-blue to the yellows and reds, nice to see. Especially when they are so bold.
Great video as always.
One thought ( don’t know if others agree). Sigma seems to work well with the Sony’s and Tamron seems to work well with Nikon.
so which on is the correct min. focus on the sony lens?
1.25ft = 15in = 38cm
0,75ft = 9in = 23cm
I just sold my 24-70GM to get the Sigma 24-70and used the extra cash to buy an Aperture light and new CFExpressA card. I wish the Sigma was out back when I purchased the GM!
Do you regret it?
@@hawathathomas5231 not at all, ive shot a few weddings with it, performs exactly the same as the GM
@@AJGalecki Hey I’m about to pick one up, have you noticed any dust issues? I’ve heard people are getting a ton of dust in the lens after a few months, I’m wondering your experience as someone shooting weddings.
@@cementedoctopus Maybe they are more relax with not putting on lens caps? Ive never had a any dust issues, and Ive used it heavy at this point!
When using this lens in Sony camera, is the eye focus working properly. Thanks,
Just compared the Canon 5dsr with 24-70 lens and A7rIV with the 24-70..and I prefer the canon lens. Will probably have to get another 24-70 than the Sony in a while.
The 5th Element reference got me! I'm subscribed now.
Only a 2.8? Maybe it's because I only have an a6000 but if it's not sunny out nothing lower than f/3.5 can be used and at night well basically good luck trying to use f2.8 idk if I have my settings wrong or if I'm just dumb lol
wtf.... do you know how to change your ISO?
Hello, i just got the sony 24-70mm GM for fathers day and today and got to play with for a few mins before needing to go to work. I thought the lens was incredibly fast with taking the pictures. Definitely gonna give my sony a7iii a run for its money. My question is, does the Sigma also perform as fast?
will it work with my a6400? or will I need an adapter?
For someone who is not a pro photographer and are looking for good cheap lenses, and tend to go much outside in rainy and snowy days (damn norway... ) Please inform in your reviews if the lens you are testing is weather sealed. Other then that, great work! Pretty new sub, but I love following your reviews and guides
One of those rare paintball photographers out there, and man I've seen them go straight through cheaper lens. The good glass holds up though.
sigma 24-70mm lens is suit for Son a73 Camera sir.... and what is the price for that lens
Does the same apply to the Sigma vs Sony in the 70-200 f2.8? This is my next lens so curious if the Sony is worth the extra money in that zoom range.
I bought the ef mount version and mc-11. That way it will be compatible across different brands should i decide to switch or upgrade later on
Man, nice 5th element drop. “What does that mean?” “Uhhhh, never without my permission.” “Ahh yeah....”
Or Aziz Light!
good lens byside of the Dust Problem... does it still exist or does Sigma fix it?
How’s the AF for video in low light conditions? Thanks.
Is fropack 2 ever not on 40% off?
Hello Jared, need your assistance: which one to buy: Sigma 24-70 f2.8 or Tamron 28-75 for Sony? In your opinion which one is preferred (sharpens, low light etc...). I'm appreciate your help.
Jared I'm a Nikon shooter and will stay a Nikon shooter the Z mount cams I have are wonderful and serve my purposes with flying colors but what are your thoughts as to when they will allow other lens manufacturers in...given the success with Sony bodies thus far
I would like to know this also. I am in the market for a new camera and have been giving the Nikon Z series some thought. But I can't get past the fact that the Z mount just doesn't have the range of lenses it should considering it is their newest tech. Yes I could get an adapter to user some of the older lenses but with Sony already having the advantage over both Nikon and Canon in this respect, i feel my money would be best spent there.
@@chomerly its depends where you are in your career. I'm a 30 year Nikon shooter with a large range of lenses so I stayed with my Nikon brand that has served me so well for decades, The Z mount gets too much slack it is in fact a better mount than Sony and its only going to mature and get better. but you do what is best for you...
What about Tamron 28-75? I'd include it in the comparison too.
That’s what I’m curious about as well
After the 3.10 firmware nerfing non-native lenses, it focuses even slower than slow.
RidingThe RR but mines was never slow in the first place? I love my Tamron
Houston International Media r u on that firware? Cuz one of my friends owning it with the a7iii complains it is slower after the update.
RidingThe RR uh oh... guess I’ll stay off that new firmware 😂
What brand and model camera would you suggest for a new photographer shooting still and video?
A7iii or a6600
@@justonbrazda3846 Thanks for suggestions!
Hi Jared what about the Tamron 24-70 f2.8 compared to the sigma because I was considering it.
Tamron doesn’t make a 24-70 for e mount. They make a 28-75. Gerald undone just did a video comparing all 3. Go check it out.
Just ordered one + drops & spills but the body not here this after xmas- Happy New Year!
any chance you have an IR modded camera to test this for hotspots?
