I really despise this overreliance on the app. If I'm going to Disneyland, the ABSOLUTE LAST THING I WANT is to have to fart around with my damn phone. Hell, I want to leave it in my hotel room and forget it exists. I'm there to go to Disneyland, I can play around on my phone at home, and it's sure a lot cheaper. It doesn't help that the app is janky as hell, hard to use, and cuts out all the time. I think a paper ticket is bloody well good enough.
Wonder if they have plans for the old ticket buildings, seems like a Starbucks as you gt through security would take some pressure off once you get into the park, a person wastes a lot of time once they get into the park to get coffee and a pastry. Love what you do, thanks for all your hard work.
I think what you've missed, Brickey, is that the Downtown Disney concept art you were referencing is being constructed right now as part of the west end improvements, next to Din Tai Fung. It will probably become the main security entrance for Downtown Disney, at least for guests coming from the Pixar Place Hotel. The cost of the gates is probably rolled into the overall cost of the Downtown Disney renovations, which is why it didn't show up on the recent permits. 😊
when I stayed in the Big Thunder Railroad suite in 2022 at Disneyland Resort the cast members were hinting about this along with the expansion of Disneys California Adventure .. BIG CHANGES COMING!!
Brickey I’m calling my shot. I believe you are channeling Carnac and have predicted the future. Time will tell but I look forward to telling others, “Brickey called this years ago!”
So good! The intro hooked me immediately, and the rest of the video strikes the perfect balance of news and quality videography. I especially enjoy those perfectly-timed monorail shots.
Man, a new security system is so desperately needed 😪 It makes going to Mickey and Friends so off-putting! I find myself going to Toy Story just because of the security 😅
Maybe guests should stop trying to bring dangerous things into Disneyland, then they wouldn’t have to have such strict security. In a way it’s your own fault.
@DigiScape903 "my fault"? Lol They can maintain the same strict rules and update their system at the same time. I hardly see security pull items from bags and discard them. Typically, they just feel for hard objects or hidden objects. And items that they do take away, typically are very niche and don't pose serious threats. That's something that they can scan for at the same systems they use in Florida. I'm not arguing for less security, I'm arguing for efficient security 🤣
So fun to see what all will happen with the new gates and …. Later on security. I really hope they keep the Disneyland center gates…. They are pretty special. While I agree with the security system being so much better at WDW, if you do NOT get OKed to move forward through WDW ‘s security machines and have to proceed to hand screening and searching…. It is painful. Not only do they remove absolutely everything from your bags, but look deep into every possible little corner and pocket…. I do like where you are going with them holding off on upgrading security for now. I do believe a lot of great and exciting things are in the Disneyland Resort’s future.
Besides the issues the entry gates currently seem to have with strollers, wheelchairs and ECV's, there is another thing that slows down everyone's entry time. It seems like the current turnstiles were made for people with fashion model or miss america shapes. There are plenty of us out there who are not all that slim.
As Florida is my home park, i was all around shocked at the lack of updates to guest experience and technology at Disneyland. The gates and scanning in being the first. Cast members all smiled and seemed to breathe a little with me using my magicband haha
Just chiming in to echo what others have said 😉 New gates are SO needed. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Thanks bringing us along with you on the journey for new possibilities. Fun to follow 🎉
They should have direct entry into Disneyland into the west side if you parked at Mickey & Friends parking structure. Then 80% of trams usage are eliminated.
Hey Brickey, do you think these renovations will affect the personalized pavers in the esplanade? I knew it could happen but I will be soooo sad to see mine go! It’s on the Disneyland side just to the left of the Monorail upright. Any chance they will try and resell those bricks back to the owners?
Hey Brickey, I am good with them changing the turnstile part of the entrance, but I really don't want ot see the original look of the entracne change. It's one of the most iconic parts of the park. I am okay with making things smoother, but don't change too much.
I was at WDW last month for the first time and coming back it hit me how antiquated DL's entry is, especially with cast members having to take pictures of guests with new passes/tickets.
I agree with you I get claustrophobic when I go to that area. Also remember the, I can't remember what it's called where it goes in a circle and the old splash mountain animatronics we're in it. And then you have mission to Mars which is back in the corner. And you are right the theater is taking up so much space you try to go see a program there and there's always Disney workers out there saying it's closed. I start over would be a great idea. And you know they can do a great job like they did in Toontown.
Hear me out. If you look very closely where Magic Way is. They completely converted that to theme park space (we all knew that was gonna happen) Then where Disneyland Dr is, it’s filled with greenery, so does that mean They’re gonna close off Disneyland Dr ?!?!
As someone who has also visited WDW, it was a mixed bag getting into the parks, just as I have found it a mixed bag getting into Disneyland. I can say the same about dealing with security. Both Disneyland and WDW need to take lessons from Universal - at least in regard to security. Or . . . all parks should just get rid of them.
I think anything new will be a welcomed improvement. Wonder how the guest photo will work. Question which location has the newer gates, WDW or Disneyland Paris?
Great observations Brickey on the differences between Disneyland’s and WDW’s entrance gates and what Disneyland could do now that magicbands are more and more available. Also do they really need to charge for parking when some are just coming to downtown Disney? I noticed in my last trip to WDW that parking in Disney springs is free.
Knotts and Magic Mountain are already utilizing WDW style security were you just breeze right through, so it is incredible that Disneyland is stuck in the Stone Age with this, but honestly actually the only good thing is all the jobs that it creates, but at what cost? Damn I just missed that Space Mountain lightning lane!
All of this about the monorail not being included in the gates project is also an indicator that remodeling Tomorrowland is on Disney's mind. Any project to extensively overhaul Tomorrowland would mean potential relocating large parts of the monorail track over the Autopia. To lose the connection with the hotel would create traffic problems along Disneyland Drive, Katella Avenue, and Harbor Boulevard. I believe the solution Disney has in mind is to do the Disneyland extension first.
When I was last at Disney World I was flagged each time I wore a backpack. The one time I didn’t no problem. Like they want you to go in with nothing so you have to buy snacks/drinks. Both systems are more theater than substance.
I laugh at how much you stop just to watch the Monorail go by. Heck, here in Kuala Lumpur, there are a bunch of monorails throughout the city to get people around. I see them everyday at different places. And yes, they are the same design as the ones used at Disneyland.
I really want to believe u about everything but I do want to ask some real questions I am not a pessimist but how will Disney overcome the problem of closing the bus parking and all guest flow from those neighbor hotels will the city allow it?
Yes, because everything will be funneled into the East End parking garage. Just like Mickey and Friends handles the trams on the lower level and security. This garage would have a lower level bus station. A 2nd level security area and then when people travel across the sky bridge into Disneyland they are good to go. It will probably improve traffic because it will reduce the amount of vehicles stopping on Harbor. Hope this makes sense.
I'll check it out! Love to support those that put forth good content! Disneyland needs more of you vlogers, as the 'Management' doesn't understand the 'MAGIC' we all know and experience through you and each lucky time we get to visit the park. @@HeyBrickey

Love what you do, thanks for all your hard work.
As the original Park, I hope they keep one gate for nostalgia. Can really soak up the waits haha
Brickey with his Columbo like research skills. 😄 I like where you're going with all this.

dude, just discovered ur channel. love it. clean and peaceful explanations
Welcome! Great channel, great community 🎉
...also no permit filed for the Pixar Place DCA entrance... hmmm!

*cough cough* Monorail built into DCA

Don't forget the gates near goofy sky school for resort guests.
I’ll be at Disneyland next week! Hope to see you if I randomly walk by
I love thinking about all the possibilities! 🎉 Also, great shot of those crows ❤🤘
I know it's super low capacity but... you forgot to mention the entrance into DCA specifically for guests of Pixar Place :o
Man, a new security system is so desperately needed 😪 It makes going to Mickey and Friends so off-putting! I find myself going to Toy Story just because of the security 😅
And better training too. It is so easy to get things through that shouldn’t get through at all.
Maybe guests should stop trying to bring dangerous things into Disneyland, then they wouldn’t have to have such strict security. In a way it’s your own fault.

No permit for the entry into California Adventure that only Pixar hotel has access to?
Let’s get those walk through security checkins that WDW has.
Great update! Extra Monorail is very exciting. Keep up the good work!

So exciting! Thank you for the update. The real question though… is that a new Hey Brickey shirt that will be available for purchase? I love it! ❤

Wow I would like a piece of that gate after they take them down, great video and yes it will be slow to go fast.

Brickey, your videos are soooooo good. I love the forward thinking. Thanks for all you do.
How much aluminum foil do you use to make your hat? 🤣🤣 Great reporting Brickey, can't wait to see if it will fall into place.
They should have direct entry into Disneyland into the west side if you parked at Mickey & Friends parking structure. Then 80% of trams usage are eliminated.
They wouldn’t do that. They want guests entering and exiting via Main Street so they’re tempted to buy merch.
@@AStageForTheKingdom Which is true, but they can easily add more stores on that side of the park.

Do not make them 60s retro!
