- Are you interested in learning about the design of the 13 tallest icons at Disneyland? These icons have been created to enhance the Disneyland story and sometimes to help visitors find their way around the park. Some of them are designed to block out certain sections of the park, encouraging visitors to discover their own adventure. Others are buried in the ground to appear shorter than they actually are. In this video, we will rank the top 13 Disneyland icons and explain why each icon is the height it is and what kind of magical effect it creates.
Fun fact: there was a LEGO leak that an upcoming set is Sleeping Beauty Castle from Disneyland. Not a giant $400 set like “Disney Castle” (Cinderella Castle) but a smaller but still well detailed set in the style of smaller castles they’ve recently done
That’s what I need. The Cinderella Castle is too big and too pricey, plus it’s not my castle. Sleeping Beauty Castle scaled for the Cinderella Castle sounds perfect.
Now if they would do the castle from Disneyland Paris, it’s my favorite.
@@anthonypecorara4346that is sleeping beauty’s castle
@DavidVitrano they did do Disney world… twice lol. Three actually. The original Disney Castle is Cinderella Castle and it got a remake last year for Disney 100. Then they did a small micro scale version a couple years ago for Disney World 50th anniversary.
@@achannell362 if I remember the leak correctly the price didn’t sound like it would be that same scale. It sounded similar or maybe slightly larger than the micro-scale Cinderella Castle they made for the 50th anniversary
I never thought about it this way, but it's true! Grizzly Peak does a great job of dividing the park into distinct lands. It makes the whole experience feel more immersive and adventurous. Thanks for pointing this out!
Best Disneyland blogger/essayist around. No one covers the park like this!!!
Watching your videos has been such an excellent way to get me in the mood for going to Disneyland later this month, for the first time. Your design focus is always so refreshing and informative. Keep up the great work Brickey.
Have a good trip!
I never understood the WDW crowd insulting our smaller castle. I don't want to see a medieval castle from Tomorrowland or Frontierland. It's immersion breaking. Disney takes care not to ruin site lines, and the WDW castle stands out so much.
My dad told a story from some point in the past (probably 1960s or 1970s).
He was on a business trip and was eating breakfast with coworkers in Anaheim. They noticed what looked like a mountain in the distance, but not where it should have been. Eventually someone realized that they were very close to Disneyland and were looking at the Matterhorn.
I really appreciate how much having the roller coasters themed as mountains does for Disney theme park atmosphere. So many times I've heard about some other company's new theme park, themed to something that sounds interesting, but when I go to look at images of it, it's just GIANT GARISHLY PAINTED STEEL COASTER TRACKS EVERYWHERE!!! Even California Screamin'/Incredicoaster, which is one kind of coaster themed to another kind of coaster, blends into its environment better than a lot of other "theme" parks' coasters do.
lol "Sorrowland Junk". Sad but true. Bones and shells of what used to be a great land visible to all. I hope once one of the future expansion areas is open they will raze Tomorrowland and make something worthy of Walt's vision.
omg, children's hospital will stick with me forever😂
Hi from Québec french Canada ! Thank you for your vidéo’s quality !
Thanks for noticing!
Growing up in California in the 70s when driving to Disneyland whoever saw the Maderhorn from the freeway first got to pick the first ride to go on. (kind of a silly game since the choice was always either Pirates Of The Caribbean or The Haunted Mansion).
I'm not well enough to ever visit for real , but your videos take me there, even still. Thank you so much 💓
Another great video, Brickey! Things are looking up for this channel, and I’m happy to be here for it. And can I just say your video quality is out of this world!
This comment was made by my 12-year-old. Your fan base is growing. :)
These are some of the best Disney videos on RUclips.
Great video Brickey! You are knocking out of our the park with these latest videos! Definitely an evergreen video that can be watched for years to come! 🎡☠️🎢🏔️
When we were kids (1970’s) we would always try to be the first to spot the Matterhorn from the freeway. Good times ❤it was all a part of the intense anticipation of getting to Disneyland 🎉
Brickey your videos have gone to another level this year. Your knowledge and sharing of information is incredible and every video is a gem. Keep them coming Dr. Disney, professor of all things Disneyland!
He’s always been like this. It’s just he’s finally got into the algorithm for others to find his videos.
Its so nice to see a fellow design nerd appreciate what a wonderfully perfect specimen Disneyland is
Great topic and great looking video ! You get the best shots of the park ! Keep up the good work !
I used to appreciate how the Hollywood Tower Hotel lined up behind the Cozy Cone Motel when viewed from Cars Land, putting two fake hotels in the same shot.
Great job Brickey!
Super cool info on Disneyland. You can’t get fact’s like this anywhere. You have a very unique channel 😎🤙
Catching up on videos the last few days. Congratulations on the uptick in views recently. Massively deserved with the time and effort you always put in and great to see the reward.
Great job!
Brickey! My man! Fellow Long Beach person! I'm in Oklahoma now but growing up in L.B., 20 minutes away from Disneyland, stirs great memories in me.

Love this topic and your enthusiasm for the subject. Film quality and content is on point. Our little castle might be small, but she’ll forever be my favorite ❤️
Surprised you didn't acknowledge how complimentary the Matterhorn is when seeing it over top of Peter Pan. It adds so much charm to the Peter Pan ride building.
Thanks! I really enjoy these video. I’m always learning something new when watching these videos.
Thanks Brickey! Regarding Grizzly Peak, if Disney looks to add Disney IP to that area, we’d love to see Grizzly River run, the outdoor wilderness area and the Grizzly Peak rebranded with the Brave movie! It is so bear focused and would fit right in, Merida’s training ground (tie in her 3 brothers) and running from Mordu on the river run, could be great!
Great video Brickey! I remember as a kid, coming up the 5 freeway and spotting the Matterhorn. It always let me know we were close to Disneyland! Now, on the way home I can spot Pixar Place Hotel and the top of the Incredicoaster from the 22 freeway. You can see the parks from Black Gold Golf Club as well. Disneyland icons can be seen from all over Orange County!
This post is something I didn’t know I needed. 😊
Another great video, Thank you
Another beauty! Thanks Brickey
Thank you for all these great videos!!
Thanks for watching!!! ❤️
Your the best with sight lines
On Aug 5 2001 my dad thought it'd be cool to climb Grizzly Peak to take photographs of the fireworks that night. On his descent down he got stuck for 127 hours, then was frozen from the cold 62° weather.
RIP in peace pop pop. I'll always think straight and will continue to break down the walls in your memory ✖️✖️✖️
Never Forget
Did you film this yesterday? I was there yesterday trying to spot one of the disney RUclipsrs I follow lol
Well the 13th cant get here fast enough to see what tantalizing mind-blowing fact and insightful information i can be immersed with.
I remember going to Disneyland when they were building Grizzly Peak. I had no idea what was going there and neither did my parents. No internet to consult at the time and we never asked a cast member.
Banger mark!
Just wondering...does your list have 13 just so you could include the castle?
I forced myself onto Expedition Everest, and it wasn't as gut wrenching as I expected. This is coming from someone who is still too much of a wuss to ride The Incredicoaster in DCA, a place I have visited multiple times.
Thanks for another great video, really appreciate everything you share with us. Quick tech question though. You have that new gorgeous camera, why do you post these videos in 1080p and not in 4k?
So long production story short... All of the videos are shot in 4K. However I scale to frame size at 1080. Which then allows me to keyframe and zoom into my shots but still keeping a clear image. I do a lot of my pans in post to keep them steady.
Also 4K videos create a longer upload, render and RUclips process time. At some point I might switch but a majority of my content is consumed on phones which makes the extra effort feel pointless.
@@HeyBrickey Thanks for the reply dude. Appreciate it. I’m always watching your videos on my big ol’ TV, I’m probably the outlier though. Keep rockin’ the great content, and I’ll keep watching. Be well!
How tall is splash mountain now without the tree on top?
Disney should pay you. Every time I watch your videos I want to go to Disneyland!! I like just wandering around. Don’t even need to ride to enjoy!
So since you said that the *Matterhorn* is 147 feet, it makes me wonder how tall the *Matterhorn Tree* is? But of course this be forced perspective trick, IDK but makes for interesting subject. That would a great idea for video for you,*_"How Disney uses landscaping to hide stuff from our view"_*
Anyone know what the highest point in Disneyland was prior to the Matterhorn opening up in 1959? Will share the answer (if someone doesn’t already know it) if we get 5 likes!!!
Love the content. Keep up the great work.
I know this one!!! Working on a video about what makes this location one of the most unique experiences at Disneyland!!!
Then we will leave this a mystery until you get to tell that story.
I’m guessing it’s a Tree?
Do you use Google Earth to get those great overhead shots?
The Pixar hotel not having a lot of decoration or "Disney" is actually on par with the brand. The hotel is minimalistic much likes its former owner Steve Jobs and somewhat mirrors the asethetic of its Emeryville studio.
Wow if I was asked what the tallest structure is at Disneyland I would’ve said the Matterhorn. Mainly because that’s the thing I see peering out from the freeway. Didn’t realize the Ferris wheel was taller than that. Tower of Terror I believe is super tall. It does stand out when I’m there. Or Galaxy’s Guardian or whatever it’s called. 😆
I always thought Grizzly Peak was taller than anything I remember seeing it in the first time the first year it opened in 2001 when there were no tall trees blocking it! Also, random thought. Would it be cool if the the bear mouth shoot out fire or smoke
question and correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Walt not want the lights for planes on his castle? and why it is shorter?
Sleeping Beauty was built way before that was a concern. It's that height because that's what worked for the original layout in 1955 and looked very tall when nothing else was around it.
@@HeyBrickey Thank you so very much for clearing that up, I look forward to learning more Disney facts that I can share with my family as we visit the park and hope to meet you at the park one day.
I understand these are the tallest structure at the 'Land but my question is: What is the highest point guests can actually go to?
Great video Bro, Subscribing now 🙏🏾
Awesome, thank you!🙏
RIP to Maliboomer
Respectfully, you forgot Carthay Circle Restaurant, coming in at 89.5 feet!
I swapped it out with Sleeping Beauty. I like the number 13 because it's a Disney number, and SB has better storytelling and intent than Carthay. It's hard you want to make videos that are easy to follow and don't run to long but then you have to make decisions on what makes the cut and what doesn't. But yes you are correct.
One thing that is very clear about the Disney empire: the emperor is a perverted, naked monster.
Now that magic kingdom is closing the shooting gallery, is it time for Disneyland to shut it down and blow that area out for the obvious addition of an Encanto experience? Since Tomorrow Land should change to Discovery land, maybe Frontier could change to something that (trying to pick a word that won’t be offensive to people who get offended about anything Disney does) reflects it’s Latino influence.
Traitor! I thought u were a purist and liked all the originals, especially Hollywood Tower!! Where did I get that idea from?? Lol ✌️💜
5’11 more lies…😂
Fun fact this guy has no idea what he's talking about
