@@welcomewrist Yup but I just ordered an Artem black Sailcloth loopless strap with a fold over clasp similar to Omega's. I love the new bracelet but sometimes, it can be a bit too "glitzy" compared to the ones that Speedys were on for multiple generations and I've always liked how chronographs look on straps.
@@welcomewrist yes when I brought the watch I thought I will get a normal box like a jeweller gives but omega gives you a fantastic wooden case. I was thinking about buying the pro but now I can't decide between a 57 or Racing got any ideas
Omega certainly does a brilliant job with their products and the Speedmaster is no exception. For the price you pay, its understandable you get all the little details within the box and then the watch itself. To think that the Speedy went to the moon is amazing. Stunning piece indeed. 😍😍
I had a first generation Sapphire Speedmaster which had the "First and only watch worn on the moon" inscription on the back. That had to be changed to "The first warch worn on the moon" when it was discovered that Dave Scott, during the Apollo 15 mission, wore a Bulova prototype on his final moon walk when the crystal on his Speedy popped off. About a month ago I traded my Speedy for this new sapphire model for several reasons. First was the anazing Co-Axial Master movement. My new Speedy runs at +1 second a day. Second was that the new version can be hacked. It makes setting accurate time a breeze. With the older movements that couid an adventure .Third, sort of, was the new bracelet which lets the watch lie relatively flat and look smaller than its 42mm size. I say sort of because while the bracelet is excellent, it's almost too beautiful and takes a bit off of the Speedy's traditional "tool" watch heritage. On the other hand, it makes the watch suitable to wear casually, with a business suit or even, I would guess, a tuxedo. It's just a good looking a timepiece.
Beautiful watch. I have a few rolex, 1 omega moon to mars with hezalite and old bracelet, and many others. But this watch is a beauty and need to add to my collection.
Tossing and turning between this watch and the globemaster white dial got the funds to pull the trigger but cant decided between them I loved this watch for years now and love the history but i love the globemaster vintage look and the pie pan style would love to hear all your thoughts on the dilemma im in Take care and thanks
That is a tough choice. I'm also considering a Globemaster. I'd say get the speedy, as the Globemaster might see an update since it's been untouched for so long. The speedy is the safer watch here, however, I absolutely love the tungsten bezel of the Globemaster and it's traditional styling. One thing holding me back is the bracelet. It just doesn't look as refined as the bracelet on the Speedmaster.
@@welcomewrist Thank you for the reply That's why I'm on the fence with the globemaster the bracelet but I do like it on a leather strap do you think the speedmaster bracelet would fit the globemaster same lug size?
One step away from being perfect. Change the metal bezel to ceramic, end of scratches. Omega are the leaders in ceramic watch manufacturing, surely a ceramic bezel has to be the next change to the Speedy? (Traditionalists won't agree, they prefer scratches) 😆
@@Shawn-ky2tw no i meant that for my it would be ok wen they would do a ceramicbezzel on the saphiresandwich... ( which they haven't ) but for the og the hessalith has to be with the alluminium bezzel ( like they do )
Stunning watch. Unfortunately they put an AR coating on the top of the crystal as well, which defeats the point of sapphire’s scratch resistance. The coating is pretty easily scratched :/
I got ordered the 3861 hesalite the same day it came out and it was delivered in January 21, it’s still unused, stickered and hidden away in the loft. I plan to take it down after it’s been discontinued in 10-15 years time. In the meantime I got several other Speedmasters I can use. Speedmasters are my favourite watch of all times!
Great review! One thing i want to ask to, well two things but they more or less are the same thing. 1. What is the bracelet like? I have heard quite a lot of reviews that it pinches arm hair. And 2. Have you experienced any sharpness issue?
I don't have any issues with sharpness or pinching. I don't have much arm hair to begin with, so I'm probably not the best person for that. I find the bracelet very comfortable and love the way it looks.
Thanks for the video :) How does it compare to you personally with the 41mm green aqua terra, specifically as a do-it-all watch? I am looking at Omega, I also have a 6.5 inch wrist and would be interested in your opinion :) thanks!
This is a touch one. Both are fantastic options when considering a do-it-all watch. The Aqua Terra outperforms the PRX spec wise, but I feel the PRX is a more versatile watch. The huge price difference makes the PRX very enticing, but of the two, I'd still go with an Aqua Terra because it's screw down crown and more secure clasp provides me with peace of mind when out and about.
@@Vess_Iossifov That's completely my fault, I've been reading comments on all types of videos sometimes I lose track. Sopedmaster vs Aqua Terra, I'd go Aqua Terra. Honestly, I'm still hesitant on taking aluminium bezels out and about, and the reduced water resistance is a hindrance for water activities. I feel the Aqua Terra also aesthetically fits in more situations compared to the Speedmaster.
@@welcomewrist thanks! I would agree, pkus I have already fortis official cosmonaut's chronograph 38mm - the best automatic space watch. So still have to make the move 🙂 A last one - you feel the 41mm case fits with your 6.5 inches now that you have wore it for some time?
@@Vess_Iossifov On camera the 41mm looks like it's a tad big for my wrist, but in person it wears much better, however, I would still prefer a smaller size. It's unfortunate this dial isn't offered in the 38mm.
Beautiful piece. Do you find that the bracelet is too flimsy for the weight of the case? That’s my main beef with my AT41. Does the bracelet pull hair?
It feels more balanced than the Aqua Terra. I don't have much arm hair, so I can't really provide a good answer to hair pulling, but I don't have any issues with the bracelet.
As a owner of the same model, the bracelet is not so impressive as anyone hyped it up to be. Firstly I cannot get it to suit my size. I am either 1 link too stiff, or one 1 link too loose. The extension does not help since it only opens to 1 position and that's it. Compared to the jubilee of a DateJust it is not as good goes double when compared to my Sub's oyster bracelet and the glidelock BTFOes the extra link button of the Omega's clasp that feels like afterthought. And the original ones is even worse with some extra holes left so you can toy around with it like some entry Swiss watch or Seiko 5. Out of that fantastic watch and I wait the leather NATO strap I ordered from watchgecko. The Speedy looks awesome on leather and nylon straps. So in the end you can say that I am mainly aiming my criticism at the bracelet :D
Speedmaster professional writing on the dial are way too big. I would put speedmaster professional on very top of the dial just like Swiss made writing on the bottom
This is a watch that looks totaly awsome on TV but ugly in real. I dont sell my watches but this was the first watch i had to sell, because of how ugly it was.
