Most "karens" like Ruby - if I ever get them trying to apply to my Art Request Service, they automatically get insta banned from my accounts the very moment they try to act like a karen at me for any reason. This is because even though I do say that sometimes I am open for doing Art Requests (at the times I do feel like doing them), I tend to have very strict rules and instructions one MUST read, understand and follow before they decide to DM to apply to the Service, as I am the type of person who's not into bs, and will actually get you blacklisted in some way by other people if you decide to "f**k around me to find out."
I would say that in the 60 Requests I received over the years (the majority being in 2021 and 2022 for an Anon Covid Project I came up with), I've only gotten 2 people who acted like "Ruby" - one of them being a guy who wanted DND fanart and when I called him out in the DMs telling him that I didn't appreciate that he didn't read my bio before messaging me (cuz I did list what I was willing to draw: Portraits of real people's selfies, Flowers, Fruits or real Animals), and sent him a screenshot of said bio to prove my point that he should have read my bio and chat box intro (where these things were clearly stated, cuz you can't hit the "chat now" button without seeing the list cuz it's like right there infront one's face in the app), and ie he shouldn't have asked a dumb question > instead of apologizing for his mistake, he attacked me calling me a c**t, telling me that I can take my bio and shove it where the sun don't shine and to f**k off and then they started calling me a useless b*tch and wh*re - all because said karen/ken got mad that he couldn't get his precious DND fanart - which wasn't listed as something as I said I would do. When I blocked him, he tried to come back at me with a second account immediately to continue trolling. Q - the Head Staff of the app who for whatever reason attached himself to my account on the app I was using - they banned this karen/ken user, after I sent in reports for their abusive behavior.
Other than that, everyone's been polite and patient and they obey my rules, since I don't mess around if someone behaves toxicly like your Ruby.
I do have to agree with you, 99.9% of people who have messaged me about art trades and such are also super friendly and nice.
I guess the few bad apples out of the bunch kinda ruin it. They’re the reason we have to be so strict and skeptical despite so many people not acting that way. It’s unfortunate.

First, I have to say your voice is like candy to my ears. Secondly, I have never started commissions, but I think you’re right people have to be confident in themselves or else how will they know what is their worth as an artist. Finally, I’ll be sure to check your art some time because well I like the anime/ manga style your aiming for.

Also, please don’t let my bad experience stop you from starting commissions if you’re interested in doing so. Yeah, this person wasn’t fun to interact with at all, but I’ve working with dozens of people who were truly amazing. Don’t let one rotten strawberry stop you from enjoying every other delicious one in the patch.
(And sorry it took so long for me to reply, I stepped back from social media to focus on my work and just figure out life. 😅)

Im so sorry that happened! My artstyle is not anything people would buy, so I don't do comissions, and this kinda stuff would not help either 😭

Oh, don’t say that! I use to think the same thing, but just like me you’re mistaken. Because you are your biggest critic people find you ~30% more attractive than you find yourself. I have a theory that also goes for a person’s art. Anyhow, I’m saying all this because you shouldn’t be so hard on yourself. If you wanna do commissions, just try and see. I think you’d be quite surprised at how successful you’d be.
Also, thank you! I use to be self conscious of my accent, but apparently a lot people like it. It’s an Appalachian accent. I live in southeastern Kentucky. The heart of the Appalachian mountains.
