  • In this video I’ll demonstrate the “iron-on” method to adhere your decorative napkins to card stock!
    I’ll take you step by step so you can use your paper napkins to make: Christmas cards, note cards, gift tags, place cards, bookmarks and more! This method is perfect for all paper crafts, rubber stamps, collage, book making, scrapbooking and more!
    With this method I will be using plastic wrap instead of Mod Podge decoupage glue.
    This is easy and very budget friendly! You only need card stock, cheap Dollar Tree plastic wrap, cooking parchment paper and an iron (An iron put aside for crafting is ideal)
    Cards made with napkins are beautiful to look at and have a soft velvety feel, much different from scrapbook paper. Napkins are a great alternative to scrapbook paper!
    Another great method to use with your paper napkin collection!
    So come decoupage with me and let’s do some fun paper crafting! Joan-Marie Domino 😀

    I’d use the scraps of the napkins to decorate matching envelopes for the cards rather than, or along w/ stamping. 🤗

    I love doing paper napkins cards. Quick, clean , and simple. I do one more step when ironing the napkin. I flip the card over to the back side and quickly run the iron one more time. By doing this I ensuring I catching all the corners and this method also helps the card from warping, which may sometime happens if the iron is too hot .Also if the iron is too hot, you may also experience air bubbles. There is moisture in the paper and if the iron is too hot , this may happen.

    I've watched several of your videos and they are fantastic. I just finished my first two iron on projects and they turned out great--no wrinkles at all. Do you know if there is a way to get a crackle effect when using the iron on method?

    • @JoanMarieDomino
      @JoanMarieDomino  4 года назад +1

      Not sure that would work because the crackle is done with glue and the iron would probably melt it, then no more crackle...lol I usually crackle and then just decoupage on top , no iron, just my fingers and some Saran Wrap.
      The crackle kind of hides any wrinkles that may pop up. Hope that helps and thank you for the kind words! 🙂

    Beautiful! I love this idea! Do you think this method is effective on a canvas? Maybe difficult on the raised canvas but I'd love to try this on the flat canvas. At the mean time, it's August and it's time to make Christmas cards!

    • @JoanMarieDomino
      @JoanMarieDomino  2 года назад

      Hi! Yes those stretch canvas are tricky to work with. You need to put a book under it and then try. Flat canvas works great. The Dollar Tree is now selling a rather large flat canvas that’s perfect for signs. I just grabbed a couple! Have fun with those Christmas cards! 🎅🏼🎄 - Joan

    • @JoanMarieDomino

    Great video! I just followed your instructions to a T and nothing is sticking! Help!

    • @JoanMarieDomino
      @JoanMarieDomino  2 года назад

      Hi! If you followed to a T then I really don’t know why...the iron not hot enough, too hot, brand of Saran Wrap you’re using, etc. you can also use Mod Podge to make napkin cards too. Sorry that is the about all I can think that may cause not sticking. Joan

    The matchbooks you make with the Easter theme (chick, rabbit) and the Fall leaves (shown in the Vippies ad - are they decoupaged?

    • @JoanMarieDomino

      Hi Beth! Yes most of the matchbook notepads I decoupage is with scraps of napkin. A little MP glue on the cover and place a napkin scrap on top and smooth with fingers. - Joan 🙂

    Hi. I am Raazia from Pakistan. I recently found out your videos. It was great. Just tell me one thing can we use wrapping paper or any beautiful paper for mod podge. We don't have these types of paper napkin. Plz reply soon.

    • @JoanMarieDomino
      @JoanMarieDomino  Год назад

      Hi! It depends on the project. Wrapping paper is thick unlike the sheerness of a napkin. You can use gift tissue if you have that, rice paper, etc or just use the paper for flat items. Hope that helps. Joan

    Could you use this technique on photo printed on ink jet printer on card stock?

    • @JoanMarieDomino
      @JoanMarieDomino  2 года назад

      Hi Judy! The ink from ink jet printers is not permanent. I think it will work because there is no wet glue involved but I’m not sure if the heat from the iron wouldn’t cause it to transfer to the parchment paper. That’s the long answer. Short answer is I’m not sure so do a little test on some scraps first. Let me know what happens! Good luck! 🙂 Joan

      Hi Karen! I don’t think I understand your question. I do not use glue, I use another product. It’s important you watch again so you can see how I adhere. I only put top layers on things that will be handled a lot. Hope that helps! - Joan 🙂

    Your videos are great! I just have one problem. When you pull your napkins apart you make it look very easy. However, I tried it (with a regular table napkin) and could not get it separated. I've ordered some decoupage napkins so I'm hoping they will come apart easier. Is there a secret to getting them separated that I'm missing? Thanks.

      Hi! It took a little practice but it’s the quickest way for me. You can also use scotch tape on the back ply and that works as well. Still takes a little practice.

    • @JoanMarieDomino

      I never tried glossy. You can use Mod Podge instead of the Saran Wrap which may work better. 2 coats of Mod Podge where you want the napkin. Let dry between coats then follow the rest of the steps in the video. Good luck! Joan
