I will continue to watch your videos. Many blessings....

I am not going to skip the rubbing alcohol, plus your idea using the black, pumice stone to cut away the napkin instead of using scissors. Plus your idea of painting the back is great too. I will have to watch again how to make the gift tags. Loved the cake tray too with the candle holder underneath. Thank you for showing us these great ideas. Have a great Christmas, hand made gifts are better than store made gifts.

@@JoanMarieDomino yes it looks like it didn’t dry which is what I thought. It came out so nice though aside from that. Have you done any plates using fabric? I will check out the other video you mentioned.

Oh Joan-Marie, your plates are exquisite . It's been well over 20 years since I have decoupaged a clear plate. I never knew about the alcohol prep. I can't wait to order more VIPPIES napkins and start this craft again!! You rock girl!! :-)
Linda Orlandi-Johnson Linda I bet your plates were fantastic and you’ll be making them again soon! Yes the alcohol really helps the whole process, lol ...Thank you so much, I appreciate all your kind words! Joan ❤️✨🙂
Hi Monica Fay! If you leave the plate sheer there are options. You can place the sheer plate on top of a charger plate, table cloth, etc., depending on the look you want to achieve. Painting is certainly one of those options too! - Joan 🙂
Hi Deronda! I’m glad you enjoyed my video and you stay safe too! I get my napkins from Vippies Designs, www.vippies.com They are not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. You can get packs of napkins from the Dollar Tree and Dollar General. - Joan 🙂
Hi! I am so excited to see this...I had seen reverse decoupage but not with glitter...I love glitter!! On the Santa plates did you spray the back of the finished plate with glitter? They looked super glittery on the back! If you did, did you glitter it before or after glazing? Beautiful stuff! I wanted to do a vase but I am not sure how to get it flat...I will see if you have one of those. Great Tutorial, you are an excellent teacher!
Hi! I used gold rub n buff on the back of the plate. I used glitter on the glass first then added the napkin. So the gold is on top of the napkin. I did the gold after the sealant as it is permanent, like don’t get it on your hands, lol! I hope that makes sense! Thank you so much for watching! - Joan 🙂
I can’t wait to make Santa’s cookies plate for my grandsons. Is it possible to add their names some how before decopaging them? Do they sell name napkins? 🙂
I don’t think they sell napkins with names except for weddings and the quantity is high. You could use a permanent paint marker to put their names on the plate then decoupage the napkin on top. Hope that helps! - Joan
If you were going to sell these, what would you charge? I know areas are different but a guesstimate would be helpful. Thank you, love your channel and videos
Hi! I do not sell any of my pieces anymore. Yes I agree that each area is different and how many others are making the same things. I was charging 15.00 to 18.00 a plate. Just didn’t seem worth the effort to me. Same thing with Etsy.
Hi Jordan! I hand wash all my glass pieces. I have NEVER tried this product but Mod Podge dishwasher safe takes 28 days to cure and then top rack safe....Hope that helps some. Thanks for watching! - Joan 🙂

Great video! Do you combine dishwasher safe mod podge with the glitter mod podge? I know you said glass plates would be great for cookies, etc., and wiped off after use. Thanks, Lngail
I don’t use dishwasher safe MP, I didn’t use it in the video. I just use extreme glitter or glitter spray underneath and before I put the napkin on. The cookies go on top where it is just glass as the napkin goes behind so you can see thru the glass.
Joy Gwilliam Thank you so much. I used a regular napkin, 3 plies and just the top printed sheet. Don’t use too much glue, the napkin shouldn’t be wet. I get all my napkins from Vippies Designs www.vippies.com Happy Holidays Joy! ❤️💚
So glad I watched your video. You explain everything step by step and don’t leave anything out. Can’t wait to try it your way. I was wondering if you can give me some advise? I bought Buffalo check plates from DT the plates are not clear. In the middle they’re white I want to put a flower there like a Mackenzie Childs design. Is it possible to do? Someone at Michael’s told me to use the dishwasher Mod Podge what’s your thought ? TY
Love love those plates I think I'm going to try to do these this Christmas..absolutely love the idea for a cake holder..when do you spray the late with the glitter spray? Before adding the model podge
I love these plates too! You spray the glitter on first (the under part of the plate, nothing goes on top where the food will go) Then you decoupage with Mod Podge. Thank you so much for watching June and a new plate video is coming very soon! - Joan 🙂
Hi Lisa! I’m not familiar with any of the pre-moistened napkin, plastic bag or oven techniques. You are probably using too much Mod Podge,? not enough time to dry between coats? Mod Podge needs at least a couple days to completely dry. Decoupage takes patience and practice. I have made plates and washed everything off and tried again. It’s a process. Not every technique works for every person. Here’s my beginners glass plate you can try next, easier then the one you added a comment. ruclips.net/video/o0cgGiWkLho/видео.html Joan
@@JoanMarieDomino oh!!! I had no idea it had to dry that long!! The problem is on my first coat with the wrinkles so maybe too much glue!! It is an art that is for sure...thank you Joan!!
After having watched several of your plate decoupaging videos I have noticed that you don't use dishwasher safe mod podge. You mentioned in one video to only wipe the front to clean. What are your thoughts on the dishwasher Mod Podge?
Hi Michael! I never tried it but I just can’t imagine putting one of my glass plates in the dishwasher! I just wipe them clean and it’s no big deal. Those are my thoughts. But the flip side is there are many who use and like the dishwasher safe MP. Thank you so much for watching! 🙂 - Joan
I love your idea of making the larger plate into a cake stand. I have a question about the stability of the stand. Have you used it with a cake on it? My concern would be that with a cake on it it may become top heavy and tip over. I'm hoping that's not the case because I would love to make one just like that.
Hi Carolyn! The cake stand is decor so it is best for small cakes, pastries, cup cakes, candy, etc. that’s what I put on mine plus I can show off my decoupaged plate, lol! 😁😄- Joan
Hi Olga! Yes it does overlap some. You can cut away some of the napkin if you want. I have a new plate video coming that is really easy and quick! Better for beginners or if in a hurry to get some plates done! Stay turned! 💕 - Joan
Hi Charlotte! All information for care is in the video, very important!! Eat only off the side not decoupaged and wipe clean only. Please take a look so your plates will last! - Joan
When I decoupage a napkin to the back of a glass plate, I get wrinkles and bumps. It is not a smooth surface and I don’t want that. I don’t think they will sell that way. The front looks fine but the back, I would rather be smooth. What am I doing wrong? Not sure if I could do one like your pinecone one and not paint the back. I would appreciate any help you could give me would be appreciated. Thanks
It would be hard for me to make an exact assessment. Sounds like too much glue to me. So 2 things, start with this plate video, you may have an easier time. Plus it takes a bit of practice to do reverse decoupage. Watch the video again snd do it step by step. Don’t rush or skip any steps. Keep going, don’t give up- ruclips.net/video/o0cgGiWkLho/видео.html Joan
I have seen this same project made with fabric but I like it better with the napkin. Question: Where did you get your sanding block? And the second coat of Mod Podge that you applied - was that plain or with glitter? Can't wait to try this. Thank you.
Mary Kay Harman Hi! Thank you for watching my video. I have done both fabric and napkins. I love them both but both very different results so you know. I’m more of a paper crafter. The sanding block I got at The Dollar Tree for..a dollar! At the home improvement center they are $4.00 each, I found no difference. I did use the glitter Mod Podge as my second coat..lol...can it be too glittery? Thanks again and happy holidays! ❤️💚
Watch this video instead, it’s easier. Thin layer of MP and follow the video step-by-step. ruclips.net/video/o0cgGiWkLho/видео.htmlsi=c-mNzGCUPnOSV20X - Joan
Yes you can use fabric. I didn’t do a video using fabric because there are a lot on RUclips. It’s easier with fabric, check it out! Have fun and thanks for watching! - Joan 🙂💕
Waverly paint is so thick, I think that is where the problem lies. Too thick a coat of paint. Plus use something like DuraClear sealant to put on the napkin before you paint. Be patient, let everything dry completely between coats. Could take several days but worth the wait!

😁😄- Joan
What kind of paper use on the cookies plate where to buy them thank you
Paper napkins www.vippies.com
I am a beginner and loved the tutorial. Is there a secret to handling the curve portion? Won't it have a little overlap?
Hi Olga! Yes it does overlap some. You can cut away some of the napkin if you want. I have a new plate video coming that is really easy and quick! Better for beginners or if in a hurry to get some plates done! Stay turned! 💕 - Joan
Can you eat or wash those plates.
Hi Charlotte! All information for care is in the video, very important!! Eat only off the side not decoupaged and wipe clean only. Please take a look so your plates will last! - Joan
Did you glitter the pinecone plate?
Hi! Yes I put glitter on the plate just as I did on the demo plate! - Joan 🙂
I’m very new to this and am enjoying your videos. Can you use triple thick brush on instead of spray for back of the plate.
Yes you can use the brush-on sealant. It’s runny so nice thin coats and let it dry completely between each coat - Joan 🙂
@@JoanMarieDomino thank you!
Could you do this with a plastic plate?
Yes
How long does it need to dry before going to the next step
Hi Judy! I wait 1-2 days between each step to make sure it is completely dry and to avoid cracking. Hope that helps! -Joan 🙂🌻
There is a dishwasher safe decoupage by Mod Podge
I know, I don’t like it but some do. - Joan
Could you put a link to your Facebook page as I can’t find it with search please
facebook.com/DecoROCKItGirls/ I’m not sure about why that link gives me trouble, sorry! It did come up in a search for me though. - Joan
Can you use the dishwasher safe modpoge?
@@LEOLEO-mg5cl I use the dishwasher safe mod podge and it works great. It does need to cure for about 28 days.
Can you wash these plates
Quick hand wash & dry
What alcohol is it you use.
Hi Lynn! Just plain rubbing alcohol. You can use alcohol wipes too! - Joan
Idk what I’m doing wrong but everytime I mod podge on top it wrinkles the napkin bad- any advice ty
Watch this video instead, it’s easier. Thin layer of MP and follow the video step-by-step. ruclips.net/video/o0cgGiWkLho/видео.htmlsi=c-mNzGCUPnOSV20X - Joan
@@JoanMarieDomino thank you
Did i miss something? But i figured that doing the edges there would be folds to deal with...🤔
does it work to apply fabric to the plates?
Yes you can use fabric. I didn’t do a video using fabric because there are a lot on RUclips. It’s easier with fabric, check it out! Have fun and thanks for watching! - Joan 🙂💕
When did you put the glitter in?
Hi Shirley! In the beginning of the video I explain how the glitter goes on first. Thank you for watching. 🙂
I always seem to get wrinkles
Hi Nancy! This is a good video to start on glass plates ruclips.net/video/o0cgGiWkLho/видео.html Joan 🙂
Muy bonito pero no comprendo ingles
How big is your napkin?
Lunch size
Oh I’m sorry! Not the glass itself but the paint that was on it. I used eagerly chalk paint and mod lodge matte.
Waverly chalk paint
Waverly paint is so thick, I think that is where the problem lies. Too thick a coat of paint. Plus use something like DuraClear sealant to put on the napkin before you paint. Be patient, let everything dry completely between coats. Could take several days but worth the wait!
Thank you so much for answering so quickly I’m trying to make a birthday plate for my grandson so I’ll definitely give this another try!
Ok! Give every coat lots of time to dry, thin coats! Good luck! 🙂
Why chalk paint instead of acrylic paint?
Chalk paint is acrylic, it has a matte powdery finish. You can use white acrylic in other finishes 🙂
That's funny, your camera guy's name is "Art" : )
