- How to glue napkins with NO WRINKLES! This quick tip shows you how to glue napkins with zero wrinkles and without using plastic wrap or plastic bags (which emit harmful fumes.)
Follow-up video testing different glues here: • Wrinkle Free Napkins F...
The technique can also be used with tissue paper, pattern paper, and fabric! I like to do do this with book pages and then turn them into ephemera for my junk journals - envelope, tags, and journal cards. I usually stitch around the edges to make sure things will continue to stay attached over time.
This is great for pages for your junk journals, pockets, journal cards, envelopes and more!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE NOTE
**Hot iron but NO STEAM.**
**Separate napkin to single layer**
*** Mod Podge or matte medium on one side of paper then apply napkin to the side with the glue.

Hello Susan. I have just watched your channel after getting so many wrinkles in my work, and got straight to your instructions and IT WORKS Thank you so much. I have been making an ideas journal and its going in there today for future reference. Thank you
Thanks for sharing this Susan! This looks so much easier than messing around with cling wrap. I hate that stuff lol
I love this tip, last night i painted up some music paper, and dictionary pages with glue, then this afternoon i spent less than 15 minutes and i have a large stack of decopauge papers ready to go! This tip deserves it spelled out!
Thanks For Sharing!!!
Just fund you and LOVE this method! I also am leafy of plastics, wraps doing this. Unhealthy and toxic. I think it's being smart. Thank you!!
Thank you,! The modge podge/parchment paper worked like a charm!
,definitely quicker n.less messy than.clingwrap!thk.u for sharing.
Thank you SO MUCH .... I've had modge podge for years but the humidity here in Queensland (Australia) makes it impossible to use because of the 'sticky' finish ... now I can finally get some use out of it! BRILLIANT.
So far the best tip of the year!!! Need to give it a try very very soon!!
Question: does the glue needs to air dry or can you speed it up with a heattool?
Great idea and easy peasy! Much safer than adhering with plastic as well and more thorough than glue stick! Super less messy than decoupaging! TFS the inspiration and creativity!
Thanks for the tutorial!!❤️
I struggle with getting the napkin or tissue to be wrinkle free. Planning to try this tomorrow.
I do agree with not using plastic, too many toxins.
Genius! My sister and I were just saying that decoupaging napkins was no fun ... always tearing or too wrinkled ...and then this. It’s on the top of our list for our next project. Thank you for adding in the use of fabric. So excited.
Wow wow wow didn't know to use the iron on it and put a coat on befor
Thank you so much Susan, you’ve been recommended to me by Dee Doodle, and I’ve found this very useful and helpful. I’ve also subscribed and given you a thumbs up 👍 too.
I'm a "Nervous Nellie", too, when it comes to melting plastic so I never tried the plastic wrap...just watched the video out of curiosity.
I will be doing your Mod Podge way! Thank you ❤
great possibilities with napkins love this technique will go try it . Thank you love watching your tutorials
Wow just came up in my feed and I love the idea. Thank you for sharing🙏
Excellent tutorial, thank you, Susan.
Simply love this. What a fantastic idea. Thank you for sharing this.
AMAAAZZZIIINGG!- how do you discover all these things?- Thanku so much for this! FAB & yes- the possibilities are endless!!!! x
Fantastic
This is one of the best tips I've ever seen! Like you said, the possibilities are endless! Thanks so much for sharing! ❤💕
Ya that's a nice idea, did you apply modpage on the book paper?
Love it! I’ve never seen it done this way and now I must try it!
This looks a simple easy way....Love it! Will definitely be doing this . Thank you Susan 😊
I looove this method! I'm definitely going to try it. Thanks, Susan and thank you for the shout out! xoxo
WOW!! I have a new addiction!! :) I still struggle with layering. Paper, fabric, lace layers. Would love your take on it.... If you have already done a video on that. I can go back and watch it or if you want to do a new one... Hugs!!
Hi Susan, I absolutely love this idea because I’m not a big fan of wrinkled napkins and it seems to be the easiest way to get smooth napkins. I recently bought some 1950’s Harpers Bazaar magazines and found that the paper was too thin and fragile for glue sticks and wet glues took off some of the print so this will be perfect! Thank you for sharing. Hugs, Julie 🥰
Hi Susan, This is a wonderful method. I have never done the plastic wrap method because of the toxicity plus plastic bags hopefully will be eliminated eventually. I have used the parchment (we call it baking paper and it is silicone coated) for ironing , not so much to protect my iron because it's already gunked up, but to protect the fabric or paper I'm ironing. lol. A good way of using up a few more of those book pages. This would also make a good book cover fabric if you have a large enough book pages. It would be similar to the book cover fabric you can buy. xoxo
This is so much better than using plastic wrap or bags! Thanks for all the demonstrations.
Outstanding!
This is great. Thanks for the tip. I’m going to give this a try.
Omg! Genius! I can see this being my next addiction! Lol. I’ve done the cling wrap method before but your way looks much easier! Thanks for sharing! Hugs from across the Pond, Dee xox 😘
I can’t imagine heating plastic bags knowing how many toxic petro chemicals are in there. I normally use wax paper and iron on the napkin (single ply). Wax melts and napkin adheres easily with no wrinkles and gives it a lot of strength to it. I’ll try book pages with mod podge. Hoping I’ll find ideas to use these paper backed napkin pieces in your other posts! Tfs! 😊
HI !!!! LOoks good !!! Do you remove some layers of the napkin or do you use napkin as it comes? Thank you for sharing!!!
Thank you!!! Love your work!!
I’m curious about when you go to put the book page on another substrate does the mod pod get loosen?
This is AWESOME!!! Thank you so much for sharing! Hugs!
@@SusanTaylorBrown nice
Great video! Thanks for Sharing!!
Thanks for watching!💚
That looks amazing. Thanks for sharing, as I will try this soon.
💚💚💚
Very cool tip! Thanks for experimenting and figuring it all out for us. -Nancy
Hello. What an amazing way of adding napkins to paper. Might be a silly question but would this work on regular cardstock, too?
Love it. I just ran out of Fusible Web I do like to stabilize my lighter fabric. easy & cheep Perfect.
worked like a charm!!v fast,hassle free no.mess!Thk.u so.much dear Susan!
I should have added below, but forgot. . . U also coat the back of cardstock or paper with Mod Podge, let it dry, and then die cut it. That lets me iron or laminate the tiniest shapes with no problems. I also use Heat n Bond in these same ways, if I'm in a hurry and don't have time to let the Mod Podge coat dry.
Thanks for your demos and tge idea if making up a pile in advance!
I just saw someone had used glue instead of modpodge or mat medium! Does it depend on what kind of glue?
Just found this! How do you think it would work on ceramic tile?
I’m not sure you could certainly give it a try and report back and let us know how it went for you.
hi Susan, i love ur creative video, i am new to this, so i've a question. Ur prepped modpodge sheets are only covered with modpodbe on 1 side, is that enough to get the results u show? Thanks in advance, greets Steve ☺
Brilliant, what a great tip Susan. Do you think it will be OK with gloss mod podge as that's the only type I have... I've never bought the matt. I do have matt medium but I really hate the smell of the stuff 🌼🌷❤️😁😁
@@SusanTaylorBrown yes I will do if I can find it... Ha ha 😁😁❤️
😱😳 O M G
Tfs. Best technique i have seen so far. I am definitely going to have a go at it. Have plenty of serviettes.
Hi Susan, have you used a homemade mod podge with this technique? Love your results
Tfs
Very nice and simple my friend. TFS. Stay connected 😊
I have some gloss medium that I don’t really like because I like it to be more matte, this would be a good way to use that up.
Good idea! I have gloss medium I’d like to use up too!
Susan, will this work on card stock instead of book pages?
Seems and looks like a very sensible way to do this , thank you will give it a try! just have to do something stash
This is brilliant, thank you so much!
This is a great idea! What temp on the iron?
This is a fantastic idea! TYFS😃 What temperature is the iron on?
I do not like the plastic wrap method I find it will peel off. but that's me
Fantastic idea. Thanks so much for sharing
Do you have a video on making matching envelopes?
What a cool idea! Do you think it would work with rice paper also?
Great video - thanks!
Glad you liked it!💚
New to your channel thanks for the tutorial
Have you collage with this tecnique?
This is marvellous- thanks for sharing!
Thanks for this going to try it out🥰
😨‼️ Susan this tutorial is simply GREAT 😍!!! Thank you I will try !!
@@SusanTaylorBrown thank you !! yes I tried and it worked 😃👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🌹
I will be trying a selective process draw out line of what you want to adhere with friction pen painting mod Podge within area, let dry then iron on flat applied pieces, fabric, paper, etc --marks made with Frixion pens disappear when heat applied. Mid Podge dried very quickly too on my tests yesterday.
@@SusanTaylorBrown Did a couple of videos not with viewership that you get, but mostly so I can refer to it later, (my memory isn't always what I want it to be), ruclips.net/video/O-2FFk8hDmA/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/A3rnOTcoqNk/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/oAKpIrj7A4g/видео.html
Hey Susan, great technique, I am about to do a bunch of napkin work tomorrow for a new journal project...do you think it would work with the TimHoltz Collage papers, because they give me fits to glue, they never look right, I have tried all types of glue and mod podge, but never this way...what's your opinion...new subbie here, fellow Foxy Crafter, Karen Lewis (Sassafras T Journals etc)
@@SusanTaylorBrown thanks....I'll let you know how it turns out, and I could post a pic of a tag done with it on Foxy Crafters! I'll let you know there if it is a success!
Thanks for answering my inquiry ...I really appreciate it! I also want to use it with some fabric...awesome!
Just subscribed! Fabulous video
Hi Susan - I've tried Liquitex Super Heavy Matt Gel and also Galeria Matt Medium, and neither works on this. The napkin "sticks" but it's really easy to peel it off again, and I suspect that once the backing paper has some sort of glue on it, it would "release" the napkin in no time at all. Do you have any suggestions other than Golden as to what does work? I'd be happy to buy it, but don't want to invest if I am going to get the same results. Hope you can advise!
Great idea thank you somuch
What do you have your iron set on? Great idea ! !
OMG! Thank you so much for making this video and making this easy for my life. I never have good experience with a napkin and I don't like complicate the process. This is just perfect for me to try. thank YOU!
I did this a while ago with water-based polyurethane, it was either Minwax or Verathane brand, I can’t really remember the brand, but it didn’t turn out as good as yours looks, didn’t stick really well. I don’t know if it’s because I didn’t have enough coats or because I was doing it onto cardboard. I really want to try it with the matte medium, thank you.
So after you iron, do you mod podge on the top to protect
Susan I have been trying this over and over Only one problem! How to you get your book pages so flat all of mine have dips and are very deformed! Please help
The fabric is awesome! I'm such a new bee🐝 I've been using a wool mat to iron and wow!!! What an amazing difference! Well with fabric doing quilted cards. I do like the mat medium. Hello!!! Where have I been??? I also got a box of new partchment paper by the sheet. Love it. So do up a bunch of paper with the mod podge like avacado dying coffee tea what ever ( I prefer organic dying) anyway, this is the # 1. Best idea ever. Being unwell for so long and building a house selling a house yadi yadi, I've had the opportunity to watch videos from the begining of time!! Yes including your flip book, "A book always has time" I've not made one, but I will. It's in my "notes" 12/19 - today.
Great idea and I tried it. How did you get your papers that you applied the mode podge to to lie so flat. I put a very thin coat but my paper still kind if buckled so what am I doing wrong?????? Thank you for any help.💜
@@SusanTaylorBrown thank you💜
I love your videos, you are so generous with your time. I’m still working through CCO’s. Thank you so very much. Best wishes from Surrey.
Can you use it on thin bible paper?
Woweeee!,!! Dee...(Bettsy Doodle) recommended this and am so happy for this vid. Going to finish off that Mod Podge . So many ideas for sure and am happy about being able to do the fabric. Yay. I love wrinkles and I love smooth so thank you so much. Just had to subscribe Lol. 💜
You tube just popped your channel in front of me ... WOW WOW where have I been in the craft searches that I missed your channel. GREAT TIP. Thank you.
Best tip I have seen for a while, tried it yesterday, works fabulously. I will be using this a lot. Thank you
very cool, this is a must try!!!
I'm new to your channel, I don't have all the pretty papers or a way to print the them but I do have napkins, glue and an iron... yay!! Thank you so much for this wonderful idea.
Did you try wraping paper?
I’m going to try this for making bookcloth....awesome tip tfs❤️
I like this a new method of attaching tissue paper and I like that it is so neat and no worries about the napkin ribbing either.TFS Hey I am just discovering you have other tutorials I may have to do some binge watching Take Care Hugs and Smiles
This is great!! I’m trying to make cards for people. I tried the other methods but it wasn’t working well! I’m so glad to see this video . Now I can try this method on my cards! Great idea!
Well I have never understood why some people rave about mod pod get S a decoupage medium as I have never been able to use it without getting streaky results. But using it in this way excites me and I can't wait to try it. Dollar Tree sells small bottles for a dollar so I can check it out I expensively. Thank you very much for this video however must let you know it was very hard to hear.
Thank you for sharing this ingenious way to adhere napkins, tissue, etc wrinkle-free! Mine always end up wrinkled, I've used wet glue. Like you say, sometimes wrinkled is good, but sometimes you don't want the wrinkles. I can't wait to try this new method!
I love this...Tried it and now i can use up all my napkins. they were collecting dust because i did not like the mess and mishaps. Thank you for demonstrating this.
What a great idea, I was never a fan of melting plastic wrap either! And I have so much mod podge to use up because I brought some every time it was on sale then I used it on my art journaling and all the pages stuck together so I gave up on it. Thanks for finding a useful way to use it.
Awesome! I tried the plastic wrap and wondered the whole time if I was breathing toxic fumes! I like this idea better. Thanks!
What a great idea!! I have had uneven results with napkin wrinkles, and found out one reason just by accident that I got wrinkles. The napkin had 3 layers. I had tried and tried and finally decided there were only 2. Wrinkles! The next time I used that napkin, I finally got the 3 layers separated. and got great results. SO I will be remembering that lesson. Great idea, Susan, love your videos!! Thanks
Great idea. No sticky stuff getting all over everything either.
Awesome tip. I had to stop half-way of the video and mod podge some dictionary pages. Can't wait until they dry so I can give this a try.
Have you tried ironing again from the bookpage side when it's slow to adhere? I've done that with iron-on adhesive and it does help when ironing it onto a thick fabric. xoxo
This method is fabulous. I will never go back to the old way again. Thank you so much. I made a ton of these using this method and they are gorgeous. No mess.
