Flash displays himself as the funny carefree guy because it's hard for him to actually be honest with his feelings. He genuinely wanted Batman and the rest of the team to come and enjoy the day with him.
Saw this episode a million times but never realized the reason why Batman likes and respects the Flash so much: if Batman didn't have to go through the pain to become Batman, he would have a sunny disposition like the Flash
Batman does what he does because he experienced something horrible, and he wants to protect people from having to experiences the same thing. Wally how ever, is just a genuinely good guy. His not good because that's the right thing to do. He does good because that is just what he wants to do. And he never expects or wants anything in return. His just doing what he wants to do after all. And Batman respects the hell out of him because of that.
Jesus, man...this just made me so fucking sad. Not because of the content of the video itself of course, but because...how good we had it. The characters. The story. The interactions. We had heroes, man. The greatest of ALL-TIME. And they wasted it. Fucking hell. I miss Batman not being an utter-asshole and actually caring about his friends. Wally as Flash. John, Shayera, Martian Manhunter. Everyone. Those were the days.
Exactly these day most people focus more at super part of Batman rather than the heroes part. Because I grew up watching JLUA so this show will always had special place in my heart
In the comics Wally revealed his identity to the world like how Tony did in Iron Man 1, i guess in the cartoon he only revealed his identity to his family
I seem to remember a cartoon or comic where Flash was just casually going around Central City doing his thing, and was just chatting everyone up like you would a friend, and everyone in town called him by name, not his superhero name either. Like, this guy is on first name basis with literally everyone in Central City.
Wally was also appreciated by Batman. Batman wished to be more like Flash because Flash still saw his villains as humans, the same way Batman wished he could treat his villains with mercy. (i.e the way Flash helps the Trickster with his condition, you can look it up.)
He knows his city citizens by name; in this episode he asks about two people's health, promises to paint an old lady's fence, talks a villain into getting mental health help, and that's not all of the examples from just ONE episode. ... yeah people love this guy, and he loves them back.
You can tell Orion has the utmost respect for Batman. I mean the man stood up to his depised father Darkseid and made him surrender by threatening to blow up his planet.
Superman is the Role-Model Eldest brother, Batman is the uptight but very caring inside brother, Wonder Woman is the fierce but loving big sister , and Flash is like the youngest brother. This interaction is exactly how a little brother asking if his brother would come and watch his junior league playoffs or something. Doeset mean much to us, but the world to the little guy
Haha 🤣!! Batman low-key loves Flash's boisterous energy and I'm sure Wally reminds him a lot of Dick Grayson when it comes to his desires to share excitement with those closest to him. It's just a given that Bruce will gladly step in as the supportive uncle figure when needed. Bruce has a good heart, he just doesn't show how much he cares all the time.
I mean... (spoilers ahead) isn't there an episode that showed an alternate timeline where Flash died and they all went and turned into tyrants because of it?
This reminds me of the episode where flash travels to the future and the flash was dead.. the league had lost its way and the future was dark. People can say what they want but the flash is way more important than people realize and Batman knows this
I love how everyone despite him not having real super powers is so terrified of Batman. Like he truly get into everyone's head. Until this day he's the only hero to go up against dark side with no superpowers and give him workkkk. 🤣 Got to love Batman.. .
His superpower is being rich as fuck and being way too smart for his own well-being. It's because the guy with superstrength may be able to take your head off in punch, but the guy with the brains and the money can make sure you regret ever crossing his path to begin with. Besides, that intelligence isn't for show either.
It's because he doesn't have superpowers is a reason everyone is scared of him, look at all the stuff he has done. In the DCAU his suit really didn't offer too much protection but he would go into any situation.
@@jdunivant1 It's sort of like how a fully suited up Swat officer is intimidating, but not as intimidating as the knife brandishing crackhead charging at you in nothing but his birthday suit. There's confidence, then there's crazy.

“Yeah it’s a Flash museum, but to me, the whole League deserves the honor” we don’t deserve Wally EDIT: As one commenter pointed out, there is no reason for anyone to argue about if its Wally or Barry. There are multiple episodes where he is unmasked and is called "Wally"
Course Flash has shown us he takes his community very seriously, tries to be their friend all the time. Heck, he's got enough respect from his rogue's gallery they'll set their hate aside to share a toast over a major moment, like honoring a fallen.
Yep. Still remember the episode where he made other heroes stand back and he just talked to the Trickster, calling him by name, gently chiding him about going off his meds again, and then having the guy just give him the info.

That silence was deadly.
“You’d never see me at these museum openings” *Batman gives him the lightskin stare* “It’s not black tie is it?” 🤣🤣🤣

The JL and JLU series is the best super hero content ever made. Period.
Well that's how comic batman is, more people appreciate the accuracy
Also that Christmas episode where Clark believes in Santa and invites Jonn over to celebrate with his family. This show was peak storytelling.
I feel the same way man. It was so good back then.
Just like the Foundation, Batman is cold, not cruel.
D’aw, Flash is so wholesome.
Batman was like "How...DARE you?! You show my boy some respect!! You are going and you are NOT gonna ruin it for Wally." in one stare.
I think it was moreover a “If I gotta get guilt tripped into going you’re coming too” thing
Was it Wally? cant remember that show. thought it was Barry in the suit.
@@ricwalker6600 it's Wally, he mentions his own mother too since Barry's mother isn't alive
He was like. My boy can kick yo ass any time of the day. So u better stfu bith.
@@ricwalker6600 indeed Wally. Barry was dead in the comics at the time so they had to take Wally as flash in jlu.
I love the fact that nobody questioned that his family members know his identity.
In the comics Wally revealed his identity to the world like how Tony did in Iron Man 1, i guess in the cartoon he only revealed his identity to his family
It's wally though probably they learned this stuff from Barry being around
I seem to remember a cartoon or comic where Flash was just casually going around Central City doing his thing, and was just chatting everyone up like you would a friend, and everyone in town called him by name, not his superhero name either.
Like, this guy is on first name basis with literally everyone in Central City.
yeah because he’s wally not barry (which means the uncle he is talking about is probably barry)
@@aaronlefebre5060 Yeah Wally revealed his identity to the world in the 90s
Batman gave him the "you're going too" look.
Of all the heroes, Flash seems to be the most loved by his people
Wally was also appreciated by Batman.
@@GeneralJaydonius You are right! Batman wished that he could rehab the Joker the same. . .
"Don't ever let them call you a crazed loner"
Flash really just dropped some hot tea he heard at the water cooler 👀👀
Little does flash know, batman calls himself a crazied loner, there just respecting his personal image
You can tell Orion has the utmost respect for Batman. I mean the man stood up to his depised father Darkseid and made him surrender by threatening to blow up his planet.
Everyone respect the bats..even the villians
Batmans like the father of the justice league
Wally was so pure and wholesome.
Thanos bro!
You can hear him saying:
"You're gonna come, and you'll like it"
ayo
Song Name: Messages From The Stars.
flash: they're giving me a key to the city
also flash: vibrates through literally anything.
I mean, we all know that the key to the city is more of a symbolic thing than an actual functional key, it’s a key shaped trophy or award.
@@t-rexcellentreviews1663 yeah, but the notion is hilarious to me.
Batman getting Orion to attend and Orion recognizing flash's interaction with the trickster are probably my favorite scenes with him

I need a friend like Batman
Batman already knew what day it was. He just wanted to be asked.
This episode "flash and substance" shows how different superheroes react to the trauma of their lives and its great. "You play the fool to hide a warriors pain"
I mean, Batman is the type of guy who won't openly say "I care about you" not to mention "I love you", he's just gonna prove it when its worth it.
His love language is "I love you, but instaed of saying it I tolerrat your bullsh*t"
“My mom’s gonna be there.”
Almost forgot this was Wally West instead of Barry Allen.
I love the DCAU. Batman moments are just the best because you know what he is saying during his blank stares
The "Why Are you here" of Batman made me think that Batman himself knows about the Flash appreciation day and that's why he made that question
I have no doubt that he did. I'm sure that Wayne Enterprises is in some way involved with it.
He wasn't manipulated. He just knew he really wanted him to come and decided to do it to make him happy even if he is being super annoying with his way of trying to hint at it.
Orion at least has his priorities in order:
