Thieves have a special physical key that unlocks most doors. Once inside the car, they connect their computer to the OBD which is usually under the stiring wheel. In 2 minutes, they can access the car computer and reprogram the key with a new one. This new key now can starts the car and off they go. So protecting your key will not work. Best protection? Install an OBD lock, put a Motion Alarm Dash Cam in your car with high DB (some have an alarm to be used inside your home to alert you), use a wheel lock. You can also, when using your car outside your parking lot, disable your key so that it does not emit any signal (each key is different, ask your dealer). This also saves the battery inside your key.
Yes, first, do protect your keys in a metal box or Faraday box when you arrive home or on a visit to a friend. Put them in your fridge. Do not leave them in your pocket. Also use an OBD lock so that thieves can not access the car computer. With the steering wheel lock, you will discourage thieves who will look for an easier car to steal. If you use a tracking device installed in the car, some thieves will leave the car parked for a day to be sure that it is not found by these devices.
Car theft has always been with us. As a teenager (back last century) I used to place 3 toggle switches that cut various electronics off. The switches also had to be in a specific arrangement (like 2 up 1 down), the ON/OFF was removed from any printing. Well, nothing was ever stolen.

Why do so many people who have garages park their cars/trucks in the driveway? To impress the neighbors or too much junk in the garage? Last time I checked, garages were designed to put the car inside and close the door. Not only does it keep the car out of the weather but from thieves. Only tacky people park out front.

I have not seen another Hybrid Civic on the road in the past year that I've owned mine. The Hybrid badge and blue interior are too easy to spot. I also don't keep anything in the car. Some sanitizer, a snow brush/scraper, a tire pump, it wouldn't exactly be a gold mine. 😂
In many areas, the thieves that steal the car are not looking to sell the car, they do it on a dare, just to joy ride and usually crash it for fun. The main cars they target are any that are easy to steal. They are not part of a car ring and think it is a fun thing to do.
Any stats on 2022 Kia Telluride?
The best anti-theft is to remove your relay. When Fuel pump won't work how they gonna take your car away.. lol.. this is the best way. So learn what relay is to remive and then you are good.
Great video and my comment about dirtbags stealing cars is if ever caught chop their hands off. Rize the risk lower the reward.
Where would Subaru Forester fall into? 🤔
I used my 2018 Forester turbo as a trade in for a 2016 Toyota. Subaru is a piece of junk.
I’m surprised I didn’t see the Jeep Grand Cherokee or the Dodge Hellcat trims in this list
The Jeeps are s*** in the Hellcat beat the death of they won't even take them.
Our insurance agent told me that Subaru’s are less likely to be stolen than any other import.
Very!!!!!!!
No Cadillacs?? I guess I'm safe. Lol
😅
Put a 12ga. Shotgun in the steering horn
It is high time that the engine start button be placed where the buyer prefers
Good.
Yep, Ford F-Series pickups have a popular target of thieves for decades.
So..... The top 10 most popular cars/trucks sold get stolen most often.
Buy a Buick....lol.
Buy a Volvo. Great cars that home boys would never consider and much harder for thieves to sell.
All of these vehicles except the Lexus are "Balloon Cars". What is a balloon car? Lower end brands like Toyota, Nissan, etc., frequently have large balloons on their dealer lots to attract attention and customers. I have not seen balloons at my Porsche or Rolls Royce dealerships. Why do so many people who have garages park their cars/trucks in the driveway? To impress the neighbors or too much junk in the garage? Last time I checked, garages were designed to put the car inside and close the door. Not only does it keep the car out of the weather but from thieves. Only tacky people park out front.
I'm not surprised West Africans are most recipients of these stolen cars, very edifying video👌💪, keep the good works, Kingsley-Moore from West Africa
Buy a wagon. Nobody in NA understands those.
You even have Corolla's getting stolen here in Canada. That's how bad it is.
Which corollas? Cross or sedan
@@alvinsimba734 Sedan's.
I have a Cross however and I'm paranoid where I park it. I always park in the garage.
@@alb.4089 if it’s a sedan, get the one with switchblade key which you can only get in the LE and L model then you set
@@alvinsimba734 For my vehicle it comes with the key fob and keyless entry. The physical key is inside the fob for emergencies. I have the LE model. The L base model comes with just the key.
What about the Infiniti QX60?
Can’t imagine why anyone would want an RX. They may be reliable but they are butt ugly.
Nothing German, of course. They’re fortresses to try to get into and nick. Just don’t lose your keys. 💰 💰 💰 💰 💰
Just don’t go to Atlanta and you’ll be OK
Is the law allow to burn my car if someone want to steal it?
With the cream the la cream of society inside.
No love for the Kia/Hyundai?
What about the Toyota RAV4?
Damm even my toyota highlander 2021 😭.
South Africa here.... It has to be vw hatchbacks. I will never buy one of them cars while I still live here.
They love Toyotas too.. Hilux... Fortuner....Siyaya(passengers van).
Because of the poor and hungry conditions if the system is justice and fair this wouldn't happen. If the money system is justice and equally the people wouldn't steal things.
Also the banks are theives they steal your money with excuse some things
Steering wheel locks takes 15 seconds ro remove.
Mechanical anti theft devices work well too. I use an old school steering wheel lock and a brake pedal lock (they can be defeated, but takes time & makes noise).
One time my car was broken into but they couldn’t get all that stuff off or didn’t want to take the time. It takes a few seconds to take on and off every time you drive, but it works (unless they tow your car out of your driveway). The real danger is the explosion in armed car jacking.
Hmm maybe I need to get a diff car like Volvo, genesis or Alfa Romeo
I’m sorry but dodge charger has to be on the list and dodge challenger especially in detroit and Chicago,
Its just as well that the Lexus in the thumbnail gets stolen often. Its a HORRIBLE EYESORE! The people that designed that thing really should find another profession!
What about lo jack?
Add: Any 2015 or newer Hyundais. Way too easy to steal
Don't understand most new cars are push to start and factory alarm to. Guess nothing works around this professionals 😐
Car Thefts watching: 😈👌
Add facial recognition to the unlock process . Picture is sent to your account .
Yess hunni, I ❤ my Camry! And I'm not worryin' bout it being stolen either!! I wouldn't 🚘 anything g else!!#InNC

Can you review Chinese car brands?
Seems catalytic converters and gasoline is the hot ticket presently.
Manual Transmission!! Learn to drive one....damb Millennials!!!😡🤬😡🤬🤔
They are not too common these days. I can only think of honda civic in manual transmission.
