6 months ago I tripped on shrooms mid afternoon in south east Georgia. It was a 70 degree windy partly cloudy day… let me tell you… the sun turned into god and this guitar sang my surrendering of my soul. Tears just streamed down my face which caused the sunlight to rhythmically refract in my eyes in a rainbow prism in sync with the music making sacred geometry. The most profound experience I’ve ever had.

the only live performance of it, that i know of, is when Gilmour performed at the concert to pay tribute to the fender stratocaster [the strat pack] he performed 3 songs. his version of this is akltered a little, as is his habit, with live songs. the other 2 that he performs are 'Sorrow' and 'Coming Back to Life'[also from the Division Bell album]
Here is what wiki says: This song has only been played live three times: On the two dates in Oslo, Norway (one of which is featured in the bonus features on the Pulse DVD) on the 1994 "The Division Bell" tour and at "The Strat Pack" charity concert, for the 50th anniversary of the Fender Stratocaster guitar, where Gilmour played his "#0001" Stratocaster.

@@retroreactions.... one of the greatest guitarists ever. totally the opposite to Gilmour. all fire and passion. possibly his best live performance is of 'Parisienne Walkways', live at the Montreaux festival 2010.
Great reaction, Brandon! You're correct, Marooned was only played 3 times in concert, but thankfully all 3 are available here on RUclips. The 2 nights in Oslo, Norway in 1994 were played in protest of the whaling practices in the region at the time, and the last being at the Strat Pack concert in 2004 by David and his backing band. He played Marooned, Sorrow, and I believe the third track was Coming Back To Life that night. I'm sure we'd all love a reaction to that set on your channel. I don't believe it's been done by anyone before.

@@retroreactions.... Yes, we were, and of some reason was the solo on Comfortably Numb longer the second night in Oslo than during any other consert on that tour, so we got FULL value for our money....

I didn't comment yesterday, although I did watch your entire reaction, I just did so in a couple of sittings. Live in strat pack concert 2004
I am sure it was played on the Division Bell tour, but was omitted from the Pulse video.

So I guess it's on the Pulse DVD technically. Hope that's true!

I saw the Dvision bell concert at Earles Court twice, one the nights they played DSOTM all the way through, the other time I went, they didn't - I am pretty sure they played marooned, but it was nearly 30 years ago, and I have done so much since then that has killed my brain cells, so I am probably wrong.

@@retroreactions.... they definitely did not play it at Soldier Field where I saw it, but they did change the setlist around from City to City and country to country.
And according to Roger Watters, their is a no Pink Floyd without him in the band. I beg to differ Roger. Need to get a grip on that ego.

If you like this you should listen to the track Ice on the album I Can See Your House From Here by the prog rock band called Camel. They were Pink Floyd and Genesis contemporaries but never got the same recognition. Giutarist Andrew Latimer is arguably as good as Gilmour. Please check this band out. You will enjoy.

I love to think that you calling this track a song was intentional, because I feel the same way. The lyrics are just not spoken, they are... emotion lyrics?
It tells a lot more without spoken words than "regular" modern songs that put words in just for the sake of it.
And since you and I share the same love for depressing songs, I knew you'd love this one, and I was eager for you to react on it, I knew in advance, before even starting your video, what your final score would be for it 🙂

Rick Wright and David Gilmour were VERY much the PF sound. As much as Waters wants to take credit, he wrote some words, the other 3 made the music. Gilmour even had to help Waters with the bass. So he doesn't get credit for all the music as he would like people to believe.

Yes, the 3 (David, Rick & Nick) were able to continue because they were so integral to the original sound. Roger did well on his own, but not as well.

Very nice song. I consider both Division Bell and A Momentarily Lapse of Reason to be very enjoyable. You might want to check out The Final Cut album later on though it is more a Roger Waters albums and in addition, Steve Hacket from Genesis released some pure gold songs as single artist later on.

This is one case where you should have done the official video! Closing your eyes to the music is fine but this is one instance when the video really doesn't detract from the music!!
Thanks for the heads up. Every day these vids take 3-4 hours total, so having video increases that time, which I don't always have more of. I will definitely watch this video though 🙂

All videos detract from the music, IMHO. However, I agree the official video with the footage from Chernobyl is good.

@@lynnhoffman247 I agree Lynn, at least for a first listen, I consider it essential to listen without visual interpretation or distraction. This is especially true of the classic era of rock when songs were released only as an auditory experience. One can always check out a video later on.

@@retroreactions....da molti non viene apprezzato THE ENDLESS RIVER un album piuttosto anomalo in vari stili ...dal progressive allo psichedelico al genere di musica ambient ecc..che sarebbe stato realizzato in gran parte utilizzando brani e parti musicali che non sono stati inseriti in THE DIVISION BELL che sarebbe dovuto essere un doppio album e con brani demo di studio.
Ti posso dire che conoscendo questi pregiudizi e critiche negative lette all' uscita dell'album io non comprai il disco ma fortunatamente il fratello di mio marito me lo regalò a Natale del 2014
